Of the school district hires Soules, or anyone else that doesn’t have a background or west or is an “known” head coach with championship experience,  after the rift in the fan base from reynolds shenanigans, there will be a revolt. 
 

Honestly, getting Scott Pierson to come back even if just a year or two may be the best bet.
Higdon may be good but if he is married to the ring T that may not sit to well with most. I personally hate running out if the spread so im more open minded here. 
I been hearing Mitch Evan’s has been calling and asking for a shot. Stating he will move into the school district. He would likely be a great fit.

Honestly, those are all really good coaches. All of those names. If the pool of candidates is Higdon, Soules, McDonald, and Evans then you really can’t go wrong. You could just put their names in a hat and randomly draw one out, lol. 
 

Coach Hig is the only one that would run a different offense than those others, but I wouldn’t say he is “married” to the wing-t. Raleigh lined up in different formations this season, but the wing-t was their primary offense because it was the best system suited for the personnel that they had.

Even if it wasn’t Scott, and I’m not say it is, or is not, this would have been announced around this time regardless since the scuttlebutt is that interviews been quietly taking place for a few weeks already.

He did not meddle.  If he did I do not think Reynolds would have been hired in the first place.

Good job by the West people of being proactive and making a strong move . People made it happen and I love it. If you accept decline and losing that is what you will get.

It was out there scott was visiting coach friends' playoff practices . 

Anyone  thinkng pierson was maybe meddling has no idea of the kind of person he is. No way he would that. I'm pretty sure he was asked and didn't say no.

Not that I don’t think he’s a good coach, he’s a legend. But MS just keeps recycling the same coaches. How long does Pierson plan on staying at West? If the same coaches get all the jobs none of the up and coming coordinators will ever get a shot.

I think this was a good hire for right now because of all the negativity.  BUT I do not see it lasting long and not 100% that it really helps the future of the program but for now it fixes some issues.

I am reading all these comments and it is apparent, according to this thread, that the opinion on the hire was to "steady a ship." Why pull someone out of retirement when there are plenty of proven coaches at lower level schools that could raise this program in the next few years, if not sooner?

Because people over there think he is high school Saban. He built it up 20 something years ago and it was a great time. Now the guy that was just ran out of town won it year 1 and had 2 playoff teams after but wasn’t Peirson so it didn’t work. Maybe it works out though. Was always fun when then and WC were both good.
