Who said MAIS teams couldn't compete with MHSAA teams? Didn't we just witness Greenville Christian beat Oak Grove a few years ago? We play Jackson Academy this year at home Week 2 and I expect that to be a dog fight. These private schools from the MAIS are not too good to compete with schools from the MHSAA. The larger classification schools in the MHSAA have numbers and the larger classification MAIS schools have Benjamins. Now if you take a larger MAIS school and put them up against a small MHSAA school, there's no advantage for the MHSAA school. With these larger MAIS schools like MRA, you're not going to beat them via the pocketbook, but you can beat them with size, athleticism, and depth.

Vott, if you took 1A Resurrection for example and put a 1.5x multiplier on them where would that put them? The multiplier puts these small private schools that have been in the MHSAA a long time at a disadvantage. Thankfully St. Al got out a while ago, but like @coastfootballfanmansaid, you might see them jump to MAIS because of this. But who honestly asked for this?

The Rock is definitely the best venue for hosting the state championships by far. I agree that they need to settle on one venue and stop the bouncing around. There appears to not be any rhyme or reason in the selection process. Is it first come, first serve? If that's the case, it sounds like a total clownshow. At least back when they were all hosted at the Vet, there wasn't any guessing as to where the championships would be held. What they need is a long term agreement with Southern Miss to host it, so that this issue gets put to bed.

In the past they would always post it to the MHSAA website once it was finalized. I guess that's not the case anymore.

Was there ever a high school in Artesia and if so, did they participate in football?

Tennessee fans will just complain about there not being an Applebee's in Hattiesburg. (They've done that before).

So is she fairly new at the AD position? -
Sumner Hill - Clinton's 9th grade campus also was a high school that participated in football until it was absorbed by Clinton around 1980.

Redwood Elementary in Vicksburg was once Redwood Academy and they played football because it was a K-12 public academy. It combined with Culkin and Jett to form Warren Central.

The termites look to be the real winners. Everything else is irrelevant LOL.

Well whoever Mr. TBA is going to be, he needs to be competitive in the innings he pitches. I certainly wouldn't expect TBA to do what Tomas did last night at all.
-
Bryce had hit home runs before, so it wasn't a new concept for him. I just think he's more a contact hitter like Mangum, but he was able to get some pitches where he could put a good swing on them and get them out of the park. He definitely has the ability to go yard, but I think he feels getting base hits and getting on base is probably a little more productive for him. He certainly doesn't need to abandon that approach at all, but having that power option for him definitely helps.

Solid win for State tonight. Chance was a triple away from the cycle and Tomas with 13 K’s. RPI is up to #6 and Bauer did fantastic in relief.
-
We haven't seen ol' TBA in a while. Hopefully he won't be too rusty and can give us some quality innings on Saturday. At least TBA doesn't have to pitch two games in a row. I'd feel for his arm if he had to do that.
-
TBA is starting for game 3. Hopefully he does well.
-
Do you let tomorrow be a TBA kind of day so that you don't take Tomas and Stone out of their rotation or do you bump them up a day?
-
State also moved up in the RPI after last night's win, so it didn't hurt them at all.

Well that's where you have to start. You have to recruit the halls. Sounds like he's going about it the right way. -
Good question. If you have crooks hiring crooks, then I don't think the status quo changes very much. Now if you have some ethical people trying to hire ethical leaders, then yes things can change. Unfortunately when power is involved, it tends to bring out the worst in folks and you wind up with corruption.
-
Don't forget about the elimination of 7A either, LOL. As more and more of these small schools start drying up as time goes on, I think the MHSAA will have no choice but to go back to 6 classifications. You know as well as I do that they would try everything in their power to prevent that from happening, but you can't sustain 7 classifications and justify it at the same time. Their greed and corruption would stick out like a sore thumb.

I'm assuming you follow McAdams. What do you think they will do this year? There had to have been some excitement last year to have that 4-0 start to the season. Do you think T'Darryl will have them turn a corner and win a couple of district games? I vividly remember watching him play and suit up for the Maroon Tide. I certainly hope he can get things turned around there.
-
Coach Grays won more games last season than they did the previous 4 combined. Hopefully he can crack through this year and pick up some district wins.

Fresh leadership at the MHSAA that isn't driven by filthy lucre would honestly be a breath of fresh air, but how would you even get to that point? You would have to bring in folks with some morals and a spine, but at that level they are few and far between unfortunately.

I'm sorry y'all are having to deal with that. I just don't think it looks good on anything though. It looks like a giant black hole that swallows everything up. If you were to put that on a black or a navy blue shirt there wouldn't be any contrast at all.
