  1. I'm glad you have that optimism. If they could win all 6 of those, I'd be thrilled.
  2. Nevermind this apparently was an assistant. The article didn't read like that.
  3. https://cdispatch.com/news/community-profile-caledonia-coach-hangs-up-whistle-after-25-years/ Who they gonna get?
  4. No, that was Makon. He graduated in May.
  5. He's listed at MLB & RB on PRC's roster.
  6. I know PRC got Egana from Picayune, but I don't know how much that moves the needle. That's definitely a solid prediction for Region 4.
  7. We only had 4 home games last year as well. One year you'll travel a bunch and the next you'll have a good bit at home. Two years ago we had double digit (10) home games. That'll get you spoiled real quick LOL.

  9. It’s on the Hudl fan app. I’ll try to get it posted later.

    Long Beach

As bad as Long Beach has been, they’ve been in 6A the whole time since we went to 7 classifications. I’m not saying they would be favored against Gautier during the first week of region play, but they shouldn’t be as shell shocked as what Gautier was last year. Long Beach knows what to expect in 6A and they know they’ve got to play up and steal a district win if they want to stop the region play losing streak. I’d like to think Long Beach would have the numbers depth wise to counter a team like Gautier. They just need the motivation and the will to get a district win. They need to fight, dig deep and overcome the obstacles they face in a game while the game is still going on. If Long Beach can do that against Gautier, they’ll get their first district win since 2018 against West Harrison.

    Long Beach

That’s a good question. I know that 6A hasn’t been kind to them, so if Long Beach wanted to stop that long region losing skid, that Gautier matchup would be a prime opportunity for them.
  12. Merlin I can't remember if Picayune had any D1 players during that '11-'13 run. They just played good and were coached good.
  13. It boils down to the non-region portion of the schedule to get teams prepared for region play and/or playoffs. I realize there's teams out there that schedule the non-region portion as it correlates to skill set, but you don't want it to be 5 cupcakes either. You need some animal protein in there somewhere.

    Long Beach

They start region play this year with Gautier. Maybe they could steal one there.

Yikes. Who can they beat to stop that streak?
  16. Heck Picayune could win a gold ball with a fourth of those D1 prospects and probably a pile of other schools down south. We wouldn't need 18 to do that.
  17. "If you ain't crootin', you ain't tryin'." Isn't that the motto?
  18. Who said MAIS teams couldn't compete with MHSAA teams? Didn't we just witness Greenville Christian beat Oak Grove a few years ago? We play Jackson Academy this year at home Week 2 and I expect that to be a dog fight. These private schools from the MAIS are not too good to compete with schools from the MHSAA. The larger classification schools in the MHSAA have numbers and the larger classification MAIS schools have Benjamins. Now if you take a larger MAIS school and put them up against a small MHSAA school, there's no advantage for the MHSAA school. With these larger MAIS schools like MRA, you're not going to beat them via the pocketbook, but you can beat them with size, athleticism, and depth.
  19. Vott, if you took 1A Resurrection for example and put a 1.5x multiplier on them where would that put them? The multiplier puts these small private schools that have been in the MHSAA a long time at a disadvantage. Thankfully St. Al got out a while ago, but like @coastfootballfanmansaid, you might see them jump to MAIS because of this. But who honestly asked for this?
  20. The Rock is definitely the best venue for hosting the state championships by far. I agree that they need to settle on one venue and stop the bouncing around. There appears to not be any rhyme or reason in the selection process. Is it first come, first serve? If that's the case, it sounds like a total clownshow. At least back when they were all hosted at the Vet, there wasn't any guessing as to where the championships would be held. What they need is a long term agreement with Southern Miss to host it, so that this issue gets put to bed.
  21. In the past they would always post it to the MHSAA website once it was finalized. I guess that's not the case anymore.
  22. Was there ever a high school in Artesia and if so, did they participate in football?
  23. Tennessee fans will just complain about there not being an Applebee's in Hattiesburg. (They've done that before).
