That’s what happens when a proud program has spent some time being strangled then makes a change. WJ, which had over 80 kids returning for football anyway has well over 100 come out after the kids returned from Christmas break. I had heard it was about 130. And jr high team has over 70. One thing that had been kept kind of quiet was how many had left the team or didn’t move up after jr high due the actions of the former hc. WJ was going to have proportionately smaller number of juniors this next season than it would seniors or sophomores for this reason.

Heard Craft will be unable to play for Heidelberg next year as he will be 19 before the season. Supposedly his family has been trying to get him ready to get qualified to enter Jones College in the fall.

How do you change the mind of people who wanted their own relative, a jobless coach, to get the job? Well that was then, a couple weeks ago. And he’s one of the likely only 2 who would likely be willing to deal with this shart show now. But then you got a group that’s steadfast against him, not without valid reason honestly. However now the board has realized they got to do something cause things are out of hand and they don’t have any other option. And they almost unanimously vote to approve a certain someone only for the soon to be former principle to refuse.

What? So you have a situation of outgoing principle and interim sup wanting someone, board votes on pay, but then not wanting to vote said person in? Then finally, the board, after realizing the mockery they caused, settles on one of the only two people who may dare now take the job. Only for principle to decide he wants to farther show others the depths of his pettiness, refuses to call the person that finally actually has the votes to get approved.

Like Maroontide was asking, I too think Wayne should just call people and see if interested and offer who ever is. At this point no one will likely want to deal with the school, due to all the buffoonery, till there is a new principle and Superintendent in place. So you can forget going through the proper interview process from here on out. Especially with this level of incompetence coming from those who are trying to call the shots. Most coaches who have jobs lined up for next year if they want them (like current head coaches and most assistants) will refuse this job offer outright right now. You’re only options may be lampley and Corey reynolds (who as I understand will not have a contract with jones county schools after June so he will be jobless). Call one, now, offer money and get it done. In a year or two after new principle and sup in place let them decide if farther changes are needed.

I don’t get it. It’s long been expected it was reynolds job. Then bubba, despite everything actually, apparently, decides on Mitch Evan’s. Which is by all accounts a very good move. But doesn’t over enough money. Evans gives a figure. The board gets together to vote to approve the figure, I guess. Then they vote yes. Then adjurn to next week to I guess give them time to contact evans to say “hey, we got what you asked, you in board” so they they can then vote him in. Aaaaand then he’s like “nah fam”. Am I right? What’s going on?

How anyone who is a member of a school board, be it the superintended, or the desk clerk, could allow an outgoing principle, who was more or less forced to resign, and after the contempt for board members he showed back in December, have any say in filling any job openings, is complete lunacy. He should have been fired for insubordination before new years.
