Al Jones took the heart and soul of that program when he left. They were one tough out when he coached there.

You honestly think that's a justification for losing your job in a competition based occupation?

I’ll be surprised if Pascagoula is in the playoffs. This team is trending downward and it’s troubling. I was hoping for improvement as the season progressed but the opposite is occurring.

Coach Green has certainly improved the defense but the offense is their worst enemy by consistently not sustaining drives and wearing them down by the third quarter. I'm very curious to see the adaptations on offense following the bye week. They can only do so much mid-season but there have to be some tweaks and changes to squeeze more juice out of this offense. I don't envision Pascagoula scoring enough to breakthrough in Picayune for the first time since '88.

I wasn't impressed with D'Iberville. Typical stuff ... they'll be the two seed and get waxed in the first round by a Region 3 opponent. Walley throws well enough but they don't have a dynamic running back to balance out that offense. Pascagoula's defense fatigued (this will be a common theme given how inept the offense is) and they scored a garbage TD in the closing moments but, otherwise, it was a competitive game for almost three quarters.

OS has bullying problems as well. I can speak to this on a personal level.

He's where he needs to be -- not coaching Pascagoula. The first five years he was on his way to legend status ... then, well. he began losing good assistants and replacing them with less qualified cronies and the program underachieved for the next 10 years. What I've seen the first two games is a a level of coaching and leadership not experienced around here in many years.

OS needs Pascagoula to beat itself -- which is possible given they had over 100 yards in penalties (mostly pre-snap) against Biloxi. I think Coach Green corrected that Monday and Pascagoula wins.

Green and staff are in the process of changing a culture here. It may take some time but there were very encouraging signs on display in week one.

Think that will be a common refrain among Gulfport opponents. Their defensive front is a nightmare.

Pascagoula 38-0 This should wrap up the series nicely. It’s been a ride but Moss Point is a pitiful program and doesn’t provide any competition.

Pascagoula 21-0 This is an objectively better coached team.

Maybe, but they likely won't have teeth. Recruiting is commonplace in high school athletics. If larger programs aren't recruiting, then they aren't keeping pace. On the coast, Ocean Springs was probably the first offender dating back to the Ryan Ross days. Now they're one of many engaged in it including my alma mater Pascagoula. Let's just say our new coach is dissatisfied with the QB position as it stands.

I would hope we'd follow their lead but the MHSAA is not led by the best and the brightest.

I was aware. He was just denied an appointment on the PGSD board. His wife is a local doctor and they built a house one block off the beach a decade or so ago. Stranger things have happened but Lewis as a high level administrator in the Wayne school district seems implausible.

Has he ever been a true coordinator? Rooting for him — a former standout player returns to try and restore the program to glory. However, there is risk in this hire and he better be able to assemble a high level staff around him.

That’s truly awful — unnecessarily busy, distracting, and the eagle logo leaves much to be desired. I’m very familiar with bad logos. Here at Pascagoula we may have the worst logo on the state.
