  1. Look out for them then. Should have a good year
  2. Yes he implied in the post game interview that east Webster won because they got a lot of help from the refs. Very unprofessional behavior from coach Carter.
  3. Do you think I’m upset Heidelberg lost or something? I was hoping they would.
  4. What’s leake county bringing back next season?
  5. Well the schedule is the same as this year, so they still open up with Mize, Bay Springs, Raleigh, and Heidelberg. Bay Springs loses 12 seniors and I believe they will be really young next year, so Tville may could surprise them. But that young group for bay springs is really talented.
  6. All of that was true. But when you convince yourself that you are untouchable, you get humbled. And they did.
  7. A lot of teams that are right there close together after the top 2, and it’s kind of hard to rank a top 5 with so many teams all right there together. So I will do top 10. 1) East Webster 2) Heidelberg 3) Charleston 4) Kemper County 5) Mize 6) Wesson 7) Northside 8] Baldwyn 9) East Marion 10) Clarkdale
  8. I don’t understand why Mississippi state just can’t let two teams both occupy one locker room. When I played 25 years ago at memorial stadium, Mize and Magee shared a locker room. When we finished our game, we came back in the locker room and Magee was getting dressed for the 3A game on the other side of our locker room. There was enough room for two teams. That was at memorial stadium. Are you telling me Mississippi State’s locker room isn’t big enough to do that? Surely it has to be.
  9. Yes, Heidelberg really believed they were untouchable. Their players, fans, and coaches thought they were invincible.
  10. I saw that too. I think they have a really good young WR
  11. Personally, I don’t think it’s a good move by him. I get why he’s doing it. But I don’t think it is gonna be a good move. The grass is not always greener on the other side of the fence. But whatever.
  12. After looking over the 2A north rosters and stats from maxpreps, I like Baldwyn next season. They return a good group of players and I think they could be a good contender next season. I think right now I’m gonna go with them for my preseason favorite in 2A north. I couldn’t find anything on Northside, so I have no clue about them. Kemper loses most of their production on offense but they bring back their QB who rushed for over 1000 yards. I don’t know what they have coming back on defense. Charleston loses a lot of skill players, including their stud RB and good QB, both of whom were 3 year starters, but they do bring back all of their linemen so they could still be pretty good if they can replace their QB and RB. Velma Jackson returns some skill guys but they lose quite a bit of seniors on a small roster, so I don’t know if they have the depth to compete with the best.
  13. I could see PCS being the preseason favorite in 3A south. Not saying they end up winning it but I could definitely see them being the early favorite. They return most of their starters on offense, including their QB and RB and most of their OL. I don’t know what they lose on defense, and they weren’t that strong defensively this season to begin with but I’m sure they will just look to recruit to fill any of those holes. Raleigh returns some good young talent but I believe they do lose at least 5 starters on both sides of the ball, including 3 of their spark plugs who were multi year starters who I think will be very hard to replace. I think Raleigh will still be one of the favorites in the south but I think PCS starts out as the preseason favorite due to who they have returning and the fact that they are alllowed to recruit some. Seminary loses some good players offensively but they return most of their defense so they will be one of the better 3A teams again. I don’t know much about anybody else in 3A right now. In 2A North, I know East Webster loses some studs, but they do have Avent coming back at QB and I think he could have a really special year next year. I have no clue who anybody else in the north returns next season. I need to try to look that up. In 2A south, Heidelberg will be the favorite, but they lose more starters than people keep saying they do. Everybody keeps saying they return almost their whole roster but that’s just not true. They have 17 seniors on their roster, and according to their state championship game lineup, 8 of their starters on defense were seniors and 4 of their starters on offense were seniors. So offensively, they should still be very explosive returning 7 starters. Defensively, they will still likely be pretty good but they do only return 3 starters on that side of the ball. Wesson returns a lot of great players. According to maxpreps, they lose one WR and a couple offensive linemen, and just 2 or 3 defensive players but that’s it. So they will definitely be one of the top teams in 2A south next season. Amite county loses some good players, and I heard Loyd Star’s really good running back Jordan Kees is moving to Brookhaven, so Wesson should easily roll thru their district without even breaking a sweat. Mize returns 7 on offense and 8 on defense. Offensively, we bring back all of our main offensive production and most of our OL. Defensively, It will be tough to find a replacement for our senior linebacker, he was 5th in total tackles for the entire state in all classes. So that will be a need that we will have to address. This will be our best shot at making a championship run in a long time, but it will be tough with Heidelberg and Wesson both being very strong. East Marion also returns a lot of their key players as well next season. They lose some good linemen I think on both sides of the ball, but all their skill players return including their freshman QB. They should be good next season if they can replace some of those linemen. In 1A, I have no clue who returns what next season other than think Stringer returns a good group. I know Taylorsville loses a ton of starters on both sides of the ball, including 10 starters on defense. Could be rough again early in the season for the Tarters but maybe they can find something by time their district play begins.
  14. I wasn’t counting anything before the 80’s. I forgot about Scott central. That was the year Ty Keyes got hurt at south state
  15. So I’m assuming it’s gonna be Scott Pierson
  16. He was committed to ULL but decommitted. I don’t know where he’s considering now.
  17. Dang what years am I forgetting about?
  18. I think Tville has 11 total appearances, Mize has 5, and Raleigh has 3. I could be wrong on Tville but I think their only state championship losses was once in the 80’s, 1993, and 2007. Next season Raleigh will still be good, they have some good young backs on offense. They lose a very good group of seniors though on defense, including some who were 3 year starters. It will be a little bit of a rebuilding year, but not too much. They will still be contenders in 3A south. Tville could be in some trouble next season, depending on what other teams have returning. Tville is losing 17 seniors, and they were their main players on this years team. Definitely could be a big rebuild there next season. They should be right back contending in a couple of years though. Mize has their best opportunity for a championship that they have had in several years next season. We return 16 starters from the team that made the semi finals, 8 starters on both sides of the ball. All our offensive production returns, except for our fullback. He will be missed on both sides of the ball, but especially on the defensive side. He was top 5 in the entire state in total tackles.
  19. There definitely were some defensive battles this year, but that could also have been due to the weather a little bit. 1A, 3A, 4A, and 7A were defensive games and the 2A game was a good mixture of good offense and defense
  20. Man it really was a great weekend. Best in a long time.
  21. East Webster finishes as the best 2A team in Mississippi. Heidelberg had a historically good program, but their ego got the best team of them and ended what would have been arguably the best 2A season of all time. As for East Webster, congrats to them. They beat Heidelberg fair and square, and dominated the 2nd half to win their first state title. Having two Qb’s rarely ever works, but it did for them all season.
  22. Honestly, those are all really good coaches. All of those names. If the pool of candidates is Higdon, Soules, McDonald, and Evans then you really can’t go wrong. You could just put their names in a hat and randomly draw one out, lol. Coach Hig is the only one that would run a different offense than those others, but I wouldn’t say he is “married” to the wing-t. Raleigh lined up in different formations this season, but the wing-t was their primary offense because it was the best system suited for the personnel that they had.
  23. Heidelberg’s head coach blamed the officials for their loss to east Webster in his postgame interviews. Said EW “got alot of help” with that win.
