I think this was a good hire for right now because of all the negativity. BUT I do not see it lasting long and not 100% that it really helps the future of the program but for now it fixes some issues.
It wouldn't shock me if it is someone with a connection to Coach Pierson somehow to help smooth over whatever was the problem over there. Certainly wasn't a football issue since they were still competitive.
Funny how it went back that way when Marcus and Hill left.... I know he's a good coach and you cant say that he isn't, BUT i'm not sure he could do anything with what is on the field at Meridian either and that is what he ran back to Petal as fast as he could when Hill went to play for the Tide.
I'm not sure you can blame it all on Shelton. It is very hard to get good assistants at Meridian and that is more important than 1 head guy. If marcus hadn't had Danniel Hill and ran him 35 times a game he would have had the same season.
I agree. As successful as they have been, the coordinators should be in the hunt. Sam Williams is a very good football coach but he isn't the only reason for the success I wouldnt think.
Who are some names that are going to be thrown around for this job? This is a place with a winning tradition that appears to still have some good athletes around.
