There was a State championship game in 1949 and Sardis won over Taylorsville. Taylorsville has won over Bruce once, Calhoun City 3 tmes, Booneville once, Eupora once,Winona once. and Nortside once. They have lost to Sardis, Hamilton, J.Z. George, Okolona, West Bolivar, Scott Central .

Smith County has a great football tradition. I lived in Taylorsville for a number of years during their glory days. They have 8 State championships that they won and 5 that they lost. They have played in 20 South State championship games. The playoffs began in 1981. this will be number 24 this year. The Tartars have played in almost half of the South Championships. This year will be # 20. I hope all 3 teams can advance with Mize having a rough road ahead.

I think I am correct on this. Any school that is a member of the MHSAA has to get permission for this to happen.

BS over Pelahatchie 12-0. I have watched the Chiefs all year and they have made tremendous strides. Gave up a cheapie with 2 and a half minutes with a recovered fumble in endzone. Should have been 6-0.

If Mize wins they wiill be 2-2, tied with BS and Clarkdale unless Clarkdale can pull off a miracle against Heidelburg.If Enterprise wins them and Mize would be 1-3 and Enterprise would be the # 4 seed.

The North Jackson field is the old St. Joe school. It is their alternative school. Jackson Public Schools purchased the property when St. Joe moved to Madison.

Heidelburg has a great football team, but a terrible environment. Shootings have happened there before.

I have seen Clarkdale play. I have not seen BS, but Cl;arkdale winning does not surprise me. They are a good football team and will finish 2nd to Heidelburg.

Let me puts some numbers up for all you Taylorsville haters. T'ville- 42 wins, BS 22 wins 1tie. T'ville -47 wins Mize- 16. T'ville-58 wins Raleigh-18. I lived there for a lot of those wins and my 2 sons played for some of those wins. Everybody likes to kick the dog when he is down.
