Ole Miss = Banners

MSU = Billboards

We'll see how next season plays out, but considering the transfers already have college playing experience... Ole Miss has a legit shot at the playoffs next year with it expanding to 12 teams.

I’m still laughing that good ol’ Steve was calling Ole Miss immoral the last couple days by going the transfer portal route and now today State is getting transfers. Wonder if his stance has changed.

I'm good with MSU folks staying on that moral high horse and not paying players. **

OM had a legit shot at the playoffs BEFORE the portal.   They would have been in this year, it’s SECC and NC or bust with what they have now.

That's a tad strong expectation I'd say.

Georgia and Bama are still in the SEC, they were better than Ole Miss this year and hopefully the gap is closing... maybe?

That doesn't take into account Michigan/Ohio State/other blue bloods that "reload" every year to be a threat for the NC.

Lol the billboard wars ended when Stricklin left for Florida. That was all him and his disciples.

Legit shot is probably understating the expectations that Ole Miss fans are going to have next year. I think most OM fans will be disappointed if they DON’T make the Playoff. They appear to be going all in on short term portal guys to win in 2024. We’ll see if they can do it. Gonna require 10-2 again at a minimum.

It’s insanely early to make predictions but today I’d have OM losing to Georgia and at LSU. So making the playoff is going to come town to can you beat Oklahoma in Oxford and also avoid a trap on the road with trips to Columbia, Fayetteville, and Gainesville.

"Disappointed" if Ole Miss doesn't make the playoffs, that's somewhat a fair expectation... but as you mentioned, Oklahoma rolls on the conference schedule so we'll see.

The "bust" comment IF Ole Miss doesn't make the SECC game and NC game, that's too high expectations IMO.

I have to agree with 83 that 2024 for Ole Miss sets up for a great run. @ Wake Forest should be a W given the fact they are coming off a 4-8 season. I suspect when this game was scheduled, WF was playing much better football.

Otherwise, it is very manageable. You get UGA at home and yes they are still a juggernaut. But you never know on a given Saturday what might happen. Even winning in Red Stick is not out of the question.

The biggest hurdle is not getting beat in a game that you are favored to win. And in the SEC that can happen on any given Saturday. So high expectations with a healthy bit of cautious optimism should be the mindset for Ole Miss fans next year. I would say the floor is 8-4 and ceiling is 11-1.

So it was a joke? I saw the post from On3 this morning and that is what made me post on here. If he did that as a joke, that is pretty bad.

Here's the article.  It tends to make you think it's legitimate.

It appears it’s not who we were hoping for at the time but State’s transfer Decam Richardson instead.

Richardson is a totally decent player. Not bad, but not special. He projected as a mid to late round draft pick going into the year. The Egg Bowl was one of his better games, he did a really good job against Tre Harris.

Well it’s official. Should bring some depth to what’s now a crowded secondary.

Btw I appreciate and respect your honesty. I get tired of seeing fans of teams the player left dog the player like they’re glad he’s gone.

State is probably going to be really bad on defense next year. Unfortunate but it’s what happens when you don’t recruit well on one side of the ball year after year. And also I think they’re having a hard time convincing portal guys to transfer into a rebuild.

I really like the two big OL additions, we will see how they finish up at WR and RB, (the UTEP guy hasn’t actually committed yet). Shapen at QB isn’t going to wow anyone but he’s got enough to be decent in a Lebby offense.

Point being, the best comparison for State next year may be one of those Matt Luke OM teams or Kiffin Year 1 that can score on a few teams but can’t stop anyone.

Responding to the Ole Miss hype next year. Crazy as it sounds @Florida scares me more than @LSU next year. I still remember in 2015 beating Bama, being 4-0 going into The Swamp with big aspirations cuz of the Bama win and that game being over by halftime and losing 38-10. It’s same year we were upset by Memphis and lost to Arkansas on the 4th and to Tupelo. Jayden Daniels will be playing for the Saints next year so LSU might not be as dangerous.
