Instead of Transfer Portal his was Juco transfers. And it worked until it didn’t. It is a great way to win now but if you have a year where you miss, the bottom can fall out in a hurry. A&M never seemed like a good fit for Kiffin or that either side would have much interest. I’m not sure that Kiffin is viewed as favorably in the NFL as he is in the college ranks. Many at that level still question his maturity. I know his time as Raiders coach was a long time ago and he got a huge job before he was ready for it, but it did very publicly go very poorly. Kiffin definitely has a certain schtick and I think it fits Ole Miss like a glove and has been a big success for them. I’m not sure that schtick works in the NFL. There are also a lot more cases, many of them well known, of outstanding college coaches who went on to struggle mightily in the NFL. That, plus Kiffin’s own history of not doing well at that level, probably hurts his chances of getting that kind of job again in the immediate future. While I'd love for you to be correct... the contract is lopsided in Ole Miss' favor, I highly doubt that's correct. I always heard the last contract had a low buyout if Lane left for another job, I hope that's high this time... again, I doubt it. MOST contracts for good coaches go in the coaches' favor. They were horrible on defense last year. So these 5* players that are transferring, are they good but not coached or were they overrated? Also, the former 5* QB, Nelson, has an interesting list so far. S Carolina - ok, TCU - I can see that, Tulane, Houston and Cal - WTH. A strange one for me was Dante Moore committing to Oregon with Gabriel already there and him leaving UCLA cuz he wanted to be the man at QB. McDaniel was an NFL assistant for over a decade before he got the Dolphins gig. Kiffin was a QC coach for the Jags very briefly and got fired after 20 games as an NFL HC.
