I think it was done more to scare people away from applying and sort of automatically filtering out the candidate list. LOL as crazy as that sounds.

I would make Christian Ostrander an offer he cannot refuse. He is a really good recruiter. He has a long, proven record of recruiting and developing pitchers. He has been really successful just about everywhere he has been. He is a guy who could do a great job there I believe.
-
It is past time to move on. Every year State keeps him on, they fall further and further behind. He was successful early on due to having a large of amount Cannizaro's guys. You have 3 full seasons of his recruiting, his players, his scheme and State is nowhere near where it should be. He has done a poor job of assessing talent and recruiting. He seems to be outcoached every time they play someone as good or better. I will say it, Mississippi State is a Top 10 baseball job in this country. The history, facilities, fan support, are among the elite nationally. There is zero reason to be as bad as they have been overall.

Word around Ocean Springs is that Bramlett has put in for it. Not sure how true it is obviously, but it would make a ton of sense. Brandon matches every good thing Ocean Springs has from a lifestyle stand point pretty much and he will almost be a shoe in to get to south state in 7A year in and out at Brandon.

I think Russell Mitchell would be a great hire for Brandon.
-
Well fill us in!

From what I was told, the admin wanted him or Lala from the get go. Which would explain why the job was not posted on MHSAA or MAC sites. Do not expect them to improve with this hire and will probably see more talent leaving. Lala would have been a better hire but I was told he withdrew his name
-
I think the name is Justin Russell? Was at Olive Branch from what I was told.
-
Hearing it is down to a former HFC from north Mississippi and two currently on staff.
-
He was, but I believe pay was the hurdle for him to come.
-
Well at this point it is more of a verbal agreement than anything. Actual contracts usually do not come out until April/May most of the time so I do not believe there is anything legally binding to stop him from backing out if George wanted him. Similar to how Collier is just backing out from George.

Call King, beg for forgiveness and hire him.. LOL It is not a hard situation.

Greene County Head Football Coaching Job

Was he calling the plays? I was under the impression Michael King was the one calling plays. -
Well, George County is fixing to reopen.. Collier is out after Superintendent resigned over the weekend. I will not go too deep into details, but Collier has left. George is going to have to post job again.

Greene County Head Football Coaching Job

I believe both he and either the super or assistant principal are leaving too. -
Do you know the Harrison County AD? LOL. There is a reason nobody was sad to see him hang up his coaching whistle.
-
I think the biggest piece of this will be who all stays on staff. Those coaches had great relationships from what I am told with the players. Being able to keep them may help get the kids to buy in earlier. If they are let go or leave, I could see it hurting them (similar to Charles Huff at Marshall situation).

Have been told admin in the district want to promote in house unless a cannot miss type of guy applies. I would look for either Cagnolatti or Lala here.
-
I would say in this case, it is a little more warranted based on who they did end up hiring. Vance was coming off back to back state title appearances and was literally 2 points away from back to back state wins. Vance was a much more seasoned and successful hire than Lacy. Not saying he cannot come in and do a good job, it just on paper does not move the needle right now in my opinion.

LOL well I will admit for all the flare that went around this hire, this is lackluster. However, he has coached at some great programs and has done well at Valdosta as a Co-DC. I just feel if you are going to hire a guy with no HFC experience, why not promote your OC who has been there a while and knows the kids and community or your DC who has HFC experience?
-
We obviously will not know how good of a hire this will be around November next year so I will hold back on overall judgement. I would feel slighted if I was one of the coordinators given who they did end up hiring.
-
Blake Pennock a name to watch in this?? Word on the coast is he has been looking for a chance to get back to Jackson area. Former OC there. Loves to recruit. Would fit in well up there. LOL
-
He very well could be super successful. He is apparently young. Been at a great Valdosta program for a good amount of time. It is just surprising to bring in this over one of your coordinators who has been there (one of them has HFC experience).
-
Does he have Mississippi ties? Everything I have read has him being in Alabama and Georgia. He has been at Valdosta the last several years so he has worked at a great program. Just seems odd to bring in a guy that has never been in our state. Never been a HFC either.
