I said it when they first ran French off it was a mistake. He was a good coach who had been about as successful as you could be by Biloxi standards. Bobby Hall was collecting a pay check and the game had severely passed him by. DuBose was here to double dip and get a check himself. He was not able to recruit and bring kids in with ease like he had elsewhere and struggled. I am a firm believer in retirees are not the answer in the majority of cases. Many have already said it and it has been true for 20+ years for Biloxi (and many coast schools). Until football is prioritized and you give coaches what they really need to succeed, they will always underperform despite having the athletes to compete.

Lane Brady would have Goula in the 7A State Championship game by year 2! That is right. They would win 6A AND 7A with him at the helm. LOL
-
He probably would, but from everything I have heard, Goula is not interested in a retiree or older coach.

I am told Lacey is staying put at Hattiesburg. Green is the one in the lead from what I was told. Was also told pretty much they are targeting a younger coach so I would not expect anyone "older" to be a serious candidate for this job.

Defensive Coordinator at Gulfport

Not many coaches who are serious about winning are going to line up to teach 2-3 classes and not have all their players in the athletic block. Not to mention not having all assistants either during those periods. Biloxi pretends to take athletics serious, but like many schools on the coast, do not. If they were willing to bend and do what it takes to really win, I think they could find some real consistent success. Too many schools feel that athletics and academics cannot go hand in hand. They feel one must suffer or the other and often choose academics (obviously) which holds back their athletic programs.

Anyone hearing anything on the opening at Pascagoula?? Been relatively quiet.
-
Any update or word on this one?? I have not heard many names period for this one.

Vance is one of the few guys who I feel have the ability to fit in and change things around Meridian. Probably the best case hire they could have made given their circumstances. If he can get more and more kids out and they do in fact drop to 6A, they could be highly competitive sooner than later.

I do not see how this was the right move at all. He did not recruit well at USM. Whiffed on HS (or did not recruit them) and Portal players left and right. Surely there were better options out there? Did they not reach out to call anyone? As a Tulane alum and former player, this hire pisses me off. I like Will Hall. I think he is a good assistant coach, but he proved he was not ready for being a head coach at the FBS level. I would have rather promoted Craddock (OC) and Gasparato (DC)

On cloud 9!!! Pumped for my Alma mater! Although my children are all OS grads or students, I have alway rooted for my Admirals. Pennock has finally quieted doubters (me being a big one)!
-
I guess anybody has a shot. But outside of Gulfport or OS, I do not know if any others would even be worth the look.

Well before last night, I honestly believed Hattiesburg would win rather convincingly. I thought the same about West Point and that was flat out wrong so now I am second guessing myself. LOL

Did the MHSAA ever release the enrollment numbers for the cycle we are currently in?? I can find the region releases for everything, but cannot track down the actual numbers.

Fair at Grenada?
-
How about we just drop the name of the schools? LOL.
-
I have been trying very hard to not put his name with EVERY opening discussed LOL
-
Well those are just are Some names I was told are floating around. Not sure who the he you are referring to is, but he may have or will throw his name in.
-
I agree. Lacey would probably the only one I would be excited about (if he really has applied) with what he has done at Hattiesburg. I wonder if a guy like Corey Reynolds will put in?
-
Not sure. Like I said, I was just told he had some interest and was considering putting in for the job.

Pretty common at a lot of schools along the coast and other places. I know Lewis Sims taught English at Moss Point and Pascagoula so one of his assistants could have the PE job. I know Sam Huff at East Central was teaching PE and Health for 2 blocks.

Harrison Central (like most schools on the coast) do not believe you can prioritize athletics and education together. They do not support athletics as a school the way you need to. The few that do (Gulfport, Picayune, Ocean Springs) are the ones you see being uber successful year in and out. I believe d'Iberville is getting there and you are seeing it as their athletic teams have gotten better recently. Until a place like Harrison Central makes athletics a priority, they will continue to flounder. No coach worth their salt is going to want to coach there. Head Football Coaches in today's world do not want to be tied to kids and teaching 2-3 blocks a day. They do not want to have to fight to get coaches off in time for afternoon athletics block or actual planning time for them. It can absolutely be done. Most schools on the coast do not want to.

Hearing Archie Gibbs (OC at Hattiesburg), Zach Green (DC at Gulfport), Tracy Lampley (OC at Ocean Springs), Eric Hollis (Currently on staff at 'Goula), Mikey King (HC at Hancock), and Kendall Lacey (surprisingly), Eric Collier (DC at Biloxi) as names in the mix early on. Also was told Ryan Earnest has some interest and may throw his name in the hat. Also hearing there is some out of state interest, although I have not been given any specific names.

Predicted State Championship Scores
coastfootballfanman replied to EnterpriseBulldogsFan's topic in Football
They are relatively balanced. Quarterback has 2200 yards passing. Running back has about 1500 yards rushing. They definitely will lean on the run game when they need a big play or if it is a crucial down/situation. -
Maybe it is a 25 million dollar pledge on top of what they already have in place? A situation where LSU says we currently have 20 million in NIL, we are upping it by 25 million and making it 45?
