Dawg83
Haven’t posted in this thread in a while but looks like so far RB’s are the hot topic of the spring portal. State added a 1,000 yard rusher from Miami (OH) last week and have a 1,000 yard rusher for Oregon State supposed to be in town visiting this weekend. If Lebby were to somehow end up with both guys, State’s RB room goes from major question mark to position of strength. For Ole Miss, looks like they may be headed for a reunion with Henry Parrish. maroontide06
Khalid is in the portal. I get it, but man. I guess State must have a log jam at linebacker or something.

Dawg83
State is apparently in the mix for Jaden Rashada, which fascinates me. This is the QB that had the very public falling out with Florida because they signed off on an NIL contract they couldn’t afford. So he ends up at Arizona State and is now in the portal again. The kid’s talent and upside is enormous so I get Lebby chasing him even with Shapen on campus, but there’s no guarantee you’d have Rashada for more than a year. He could easily have a good 2024 at State and then be the starting QB at Georgia or Alabama in 2025. But I guess just about any player is kinda like that in this era…

It very well could. Listening to Cole Cubelic review State’s spring game yesterday, he very clearly was not sold on Parson as a legit number two QB yet. Makes me wonder if the coaches may think that too.
Bulldogs4
Parson seems like a guy who could flourish in Lebby’s system. Kind of hard to judge off a spring game. I would suspect that the practices themselves would be the better gauge of his ability. We will see though. Hopefully he can be a solid #2 QB. I keep thinking back to Moorhead bringing in a QB transfer that was supposedly talented who completely tanked. And we had a QB (Keytaon Thompson) who was maybe a bit less talented but had the confidence of the team and who would have won a few games that year that we lost. I thought he was pretty decent but problem was he was made of glass and couldn’t stay on the field. I don’t know if Rashada ends up at State or not, I think if he’s ok being with a backup for a year (still a very young QB) he probably goes to Georgia. But I think the risk of a transfer dividing the locker room is lesser on a team that already has so many transfers. I mean there’s legit chance that 10 of 11 offensive starters in Week 1 for State are transfers. Of the group that started with the first team in the spring game, I think Albert Reese was the only non-transfer on that side of the ball. Regarding Parson, he did make some good throws in the spring game, I think the concern is him holding on to the ball a while and not making quick decisions. He benefited from being in a no contact jersey and very limited pass rushing on Saturday. Shapen definitely looked more comfortable in the decision making part of things. Bulldogs4
How long before we see a player spout off that his deal is not as good as the player behind him on the bench and then goes on strike to get what be believes he deserves? Or what is the word? He opts out of a regular season game or two. Can’t call it quitting because we gotta be nice. Or just leaves his team in the middle of the season to go play for another team the very next week. Seems far fetched but I don’t see anything that would prevent it at the current time. Insideradvantage
With complete transparency as an OM fan the portal is playing in our favor right now, but it’s a messed up affair. Ain’t no doubt about it.
Bulldogs4
Definitely good for Ole Miss right now and as the saying goes “strike while the iron is hot” is certainly appropriate for Ole Miss in the present day.

Former Coach
Usually schools have a cut off for admissions after around 2 weeks. I wouldn't think you could let students enroll and start class mid semester. JMO.?
Bulldogs4
I was being facetious there but it speaks to the ridiculous nature of this in the current day.
hasbeen67
They'll probably come up with a work-around by allowing admission during the semester for online classes.
