They landed Bryce Underwood today the #1 QB and #1 overall player in 2025 so I think maybe they were putting everything into that one and rolling with Nussmeier for next year. Man yesterday I listened to a 2 min part of a podcast on there with Jase’s mom and a guy that’s a Bama burner account that had me cracking up. Both outstanding high school guys in MS but goes to Bama and gets lost in the shuffle. I could be wrong with Hill though. Raekwon Davis and Byron Young are the only in state guys I can remember that went to Bama, stayed and were successful. Jaheim Oatis from Columbia and Bray Hubbard from OS are still there. I remember Scott Lashley going there then transferring to State. Knott eventually transferred to Ole Miss and ECU. Brandon Turnage a Lafayette County kid started there and I think in the transfer portal now. Kadarius Calloway from Philly started off there and now at Cal. But like 83 noted , I hope he does not get stuck down in the rotation. If that happens with NIL & the transfer market being wide open I will be surprised if he actually spends 3-4 years at Bama. In all seriousness USM needs to be in the hunt for the SunBelt West next year or he should see the door. Best QB we have had on campus since Hall has been there. Dawg83 Posted January 9, 2024 Author Share Posted January 9, 2024 State’s portal class is an interesting one. They’re kinda crushing it on offense and have very much underwhelmed on defense. Just added another OL from Texas Tech, they’ve really done a nice job of boosting the OL and WR rooms, and obviously got a transfer QB with Shapen. Find an RB that can fit into the rotation and you’ve done really well on that side. On defense…. Kinda has just been Blanton and then a bunch of projects. That's the rumor... but may well be sour grapes by OM fans that started that rumor? No idea. I DO believe OM put a very nice offer in front of Judkins and he accepted... only to ask for more a few weeks after accepting. Did tOSU offer more? Maybe so... IF they did, they overpaid for a RB. That's not a shot at Judkins at all, he'll learn soon enough in the NFL... RBs are much more disposable and don't get contracts like QBs or even WRs sometimes anymore. I hope for Judkins' sake, he got more from tOSU and invests it wisely. I also hope he invests his NFL money wisely early. The average career for NFL RBs isn't long at all compared to other positions.
