It’s crazy how similar OM’s season has been to State’s last year.

Neither team is deserving of an NCAAT bid.   They’re both just playing for an SECT spot.   State holds the tiebreaker, however OM’s schedule sets up for the potential to make a move to 6th place.

Very disappointing all around considering how much respect the state of Mississippi had earned after the two NC championship runs.

It would be a great story IF USM won the NC this year to keep it in state.

USM is struggling also, so that's pretty much a pipedream.

If Lemonis doesnt fire Foxhall, do you think the AD will wipe the staff completely? or does Lemonis at least have another year with his staff? Im interested to see how all this will play out

I don’t understand the Foxhall collapse either. Did they just recruit pitching this poorly? His pitching staffs were very good in his first three years at State and he was successful at NC State as well. But you’re going on back to back years with staff ERA’s over 6. That can’t happen.

If Lemonis is willing to go down with Foxhall then that’s on him. But I believe he will be allowed one more year if he’s willing to make a change at pitching coach.

How long has Foxhall been coaching with Lemonis?

I don’t see any scenario that has Foxhall staying.   Whether Lemonis is here depends on if he makes the change or the AD.

I agree. I dont think there are many people willing to stick their neck out for Foxhall at this point. I hate to see it like this, but a change is much needed if Lemonis is wanting to stay in Starkville

I don’t think they had ever coached together prior to both being hired at State. Both have heavy roots in the Carolinas and I think they got connected that way.

The new AD part of this is interesting, and Selmon’s very short track record as an AD makes it hard to know what to expect. To be truthful, my thought process of “I expect Lemonis back” is largely based off years of trends from previous State AD’s. But Selmon is the new guy and was not an internal hire like most of his predecessors, maybe he has a different take on the situation than Cohen/Stricklin/Byrne/Templeton would have.

Its not going to happen, but if So miss did happen to win it, I would be very afraid of what the following season would be like, considering what has happened to MSU and Ole miss after they won the CWS.

Please give me a scenerio where Ole Miss can be a 6 seed in the SEC tournament. Or are you talking 6th in the SEC west

At this juncture all three teams are in jeopardy of missing the NCAAT. Obviously barring a miracle, Ole Miss is done. State is on life support. USM is in trouble too. 23-15 record is not very good and while they are 11-7 in the Sunbelt, they are teetering on the edge. Yesterday was a must win game and they did get it. But they better start piling up some wins now.
Competition is much tougher in the Sun Belt as opposed to CUSA. But you still have to win.

After all the hype this year that would be sorely disappointing for none of our teams to be in the Big Dance.

I think USM should be fine, they still have a strong RPI and their schedule lightens up down the stretch. Coastal was the best team they will play in the regular season, winning 1 on the road there is respectable.

I kinda called that State might not be all that good, but they are trending to be worse than I expected. I thought they’d make the NCAAT as a 2 or 3 seed, but it doesn’t look likely at this point.

Ole Miss being 3-15 is completely shocking to me. Totally out of character for a Bianco team. Maybe they make a run down the stretch and make it to Hoover but I didn’t at all see this team being out of NCAAT contention before the end of April.

State just needs to put a fork in Lemonis and Foxhall and call it done.  Extra well done is no way to cook a steak.

I didn’t expect this bad if a season but I’m not totally shocked by the struggles. Losing Elko, Graham, Bench, DeLucia, Johnson. And replacing with freshman or not much experience. Mallitz having TJ surgery. Plus the hangover from the natty. The record is bad but they haven’t laid down yet.

State & Ole Miss in a pitchers duel tonight-no surprise there-Usually the game is opposite of what we expect.

2-1 State top of the ninth.

Of course State gave up a bucket full of ninth inning runs at Auburn. So no telling what happens tonight…LOL

Well State had a clean bottom half of the ninth pitching with Nixon so State was able to preserve the one run lead.

William Carey University is the team having an outstanding year. Currently at 35-9 and already clinched the regular season conference title. They are hosting the conference tournament next week. Then the week after that, they will be hosting a regional. Dont be surprised if another World Series comes back to Mississippi this year.

PRCC is doing good as well.  They'll just need to be better than LSU Eunice and they can get another one in the bag.
