Bulldogs4
But I think Skenes is going to mimic Rocker (2021) tomorrow and not be effective. And then the LSU bullpen is going to continue what they did today and lose. I don’t like FL and want to LSU win but I don’t have a good feeling about it right now. MSTSatchmo
The announcers seemed to disagree on whether LSU starts him or brings him out of the pen. They both agreed if he starts he should be on a definite pitch count. 40-60 at the most. I would think you’d start him because you don’t want to get in a hole before you bring him in. Florida’s offense really needed a game like this today. Edited June 26, 2023 by MSTSatchmo
maroontide06
LSU needs to forget about yesterday and forget about Skenes being on 3 days of rest. He will have plenty of time to rest after today. If he starts to lose his command or if Florida is able to get hits off of him, then LSU needs to go to the bullpen. If not, LSU needs to let him get a quality start and let him pitch 6 innings. That's probably the best scenario LSU could ask for this evening.
Dawg83
Skenes not starting, LSU going with Thatcher Hurd instead. I still think there’s a strong chance you see Skenes out of the pen.

I also have a feeling he will have an outing similar to Rocker a few years ago and Florida gets to him. Another question is will LSU get a big hit with men on base. They have been horrible at that against Florida.
MSTSatchmo
No Skenes needed.

maroontide06
Great start by Thatcher Hurd and great rebound game by LSU. I think Skenes might come in in the bottom of the 8th inning. Florida is melting down.
maroontide06
Well I guess he will come in in the 9th, unless Florida gets more home runs off of Guidry.
Dawg83
At the end of the day, preseason number one ends up being number one at the end, too. Don’t really see that a ton in college baseball anymore.
Bulldogs4
Yes and they earned it by coming through the loser’s bracket. Especially with this year’s format. Playing 8 games in 10 games is quite a feat. Nothing lucky about it at all.
Bulldogs4
And in baseball news Dakota Hudson struck out Brent Rooker tonight in a game in STL as the Cardinals were facing OAK. Pretty cool…Former State teammates battling against each other.
