Georgia chokes in the 9th inning so barring a small miracle we are toast. Though I suppose we are technically still alive.
But still proud of the team for not throwing in the towel after Friday night or today after being down 13-4. Would have been very easy to do so.
Regardless of post season opportunities, I would at least like us to finish strong this week.

State is two games behind Georgia and Mizzou with three to play. So will either have to sweep A&M and have one of those two get swept, or do two games better than Mizzou/UGA and have some luck with tiebreakers. Mizzou is at Auburn and Georgia hosts LSU, so it is definitely possible that State gets the help they need in at least one of those series. Just a matter of if they can win enough against an A&M team that is squarely on the bubble and badly needs a series win this weekend.

As hot as Auburn has been as of late, it would make sense for them to win that series against Missouri and possibly sweep.  That doesn't seem unrealistic at all.  LSU is obviously a better team than Georgia, but who knows how they will respond on the road after this past weekend.  The potential is definitely there for State to get the help they need, but I honestly don't have a good read on how we will perform against A&M.  I think the common line of thinking is that if you can beat LSU on the road at Alex Box, surely you can beat A&M at home, but if you start to think that way then that's when you get screwed.  State really needs to slow things down this coming weekend and take each game against A&M one pitch at a time.  If they can do that, they can get the wins they need.

States record at home, for this year, has been pretty impressive given the fact of a disappointing season. I would expect a big crowd. Maybe not a record setting crowd, but maybe one large enough to help persuade the game

Home field advantage definitely helps.  We had a good crowd at Picayune Friday night and the Maroon Tide student section really made a big difference, but Picayune didn't have that home field advantage on Saturday so yes a crowd can really get into the head of a pitcher or a team and effect the outcome for sure.

I never totally bought into the idea that Lemonis would be fired, so winning the series at LSU kinda reaffirms my feelings that he will be back next year.

State needed to show signs of life and improvement after Foxhall was fired, and State did just that.  I don't think it's every day that State wins a series at Alex Box, so that was a huge achievement in and of itself besides the fact that LSU was #2 in the country.  If anything, winning a series like that just reaffirms the decision to cut Foxhall was the right move.

Pitching still gave up 29 runs in three games.
Not exactly impressive at all. LSU’s pitching behind Skenes/Floyd is arguably worse than ours. And I know they have had some injuries as well.

I hope we can ride this momentum through the weekend. Coming back from nine down on the road against the number 2 team has to do wonders for our self esteem and confidence.

USM continued their winning streak with a sweep of ULM this past weekend. USM is doing all the right things to get a host bid.

The MSU series win at LSU was HUGE as a confidence booster and gives MSU a puncher's chance of getting into the SECT.

Ole Miss... they're making MSU's meltdown after a NC last year look better. Ha. Man, what a meltdown.

When you said this my first reaction was that it hasn’t been THAT bad, but then I realized they’d have to sweep Bama on the road just to match State’s SEC record from last year (9-21).

Yikes.

Wow, Scott Berry just announced he is retiring at year end. Great run for him at USM, I know the cherry on top would be an Omaha trip in his swan song like Corky Palmer. He’s got a good enough team to pull it off.

The wide assumption is Christian Ostrander is the heavy favorite to be the next head coach.

Berry has run a great program at USM for years and will be leaving the team in very good stead.

That 2017 was a great team but got beat at home by State team that was quite frankly not that good. But we were able to manufacture some wins out of the losers bracket in win the Regional in Hattiesburg. That was the Regional that was inundated with rain all weekend.

He was also a great coach at Meridian Community College back in the nineties.

We attended the same church then and he and his wife have a great family.

Well earned and deserved Coach.

Berry had some less than great years not long after Palmer retired where they didn’t make the NCAAT for several years, and I know some USM faithful started to really question things. But from 2016 on he really had it rolling.

He is due for an Omaha appearance, and that’s not to say it’s a knock if it doesn’t happen this year. But dang he’s had some good teams recently. I thought the 2021 team that lost in Oxford was just awesome, just got thrown off by falling into the loser’s bracket right away. They were very good last year too but lacked some necessary offense. We will see what comes of this year’s team, a lot will certainly depend on matchups.

Down 7-2 to A&M, State ties it in the 9th 8-8 on a wild pitch, then wins on 2 run bomb 10-8.

I watched the last inning of that game, props to MSU for still battling to stay alive for a postseason.

With the loss to Alabama tonight, Ole Miss has locked up finishing dead last in the SEC this year.

It's a major collapse, but winning the NC was worth it. I just hope the collapse doesn't continue.

Tough year for Ole Miss. We have beat this dead horse to death but State last year and Ole Miss this year after winning the Natty have both been dumbfounding to me.
I did not expect either team to repeat but for both to fall to last place just did not even seem possible.
