Does anyone have anything or willing to share anything about Hattiesburg’s offense season stats? Are they balanced, rush heavy? The WJ stats are listed above. Hattiesburg’s stats apparently a state secret.

The one we all been waiting for. West will sink or swim with the high powered offense. I will say defense has improved thru the course of the year. Lindsey seems to be healthy again, so that's very important. Offensive stats are impressive, as good as any I remember in the Pierson era. Lindsey over 2250 yards passing, averaging 250+ a game. Senegal and Watson both over 900 yards receiving, each averaging 100+ a game. 25 passing TD's , 16 to Senegal/Watson, 9 to others so you can't just totally key on stopping those 2 guys in the red zone. Rushing attack has been good enough, 1495 yards, averaging 166 per game. Mostly Jones and Lindsey being 1100 of that. Don't know/can't find stats for Hattiesburg. Maxpreps only shows around 4 games for them.

GC is a grind it out, run the clock, shorten the game offense. A lot of the runs against WJ were QB keeps. If your defense will key on the QB and stop him, y'all should be fine. He is tough though and runs hard. Hattiesburg offense needs to make the most of their possessions early. GC not built to come from behind. and yes WJ has Forest Hill away this week, and after the Hattiesburg game, Jim Hill away. We will certainly know the way to Jackson by then.

Why would he leave WC after turning things around? You are in 5A south. Brookhaven will cycle back down to some leaner years. Their history has proven that. Laurel is in the midst of the final scene from Thelma and Louise. And West Point is apparently no longer West Point. You might say for more money, but WC has enough of that and has spent in the past. They were the 1st school in this area to build a big stadium years ago that rivaled no one else.

It would be prudent to hear this coach's side of the story. Maybe he wanted to practice his kickoff team on executing and recovering an onside kick for bigger games that come later. Who knows. If so, he probably should have done it at 14-0 or 21-0. Wouldn't have looked so bad and he had to know very early in this game it was going to be a blowout. It's also possible that a special teams coach called it on his own, and the head coach didn't know it was coming. But as others stated above, if this was his very 1st offense of bad sportsmanship, this firing was not justified.

You would certainly think a win here would do that, with the games left to play. Terry has always gave West Jones a pretty hard game. We are 4-0 in the last 3 years though, with about a 10 point average margin of victory. The smallest margin was 2 and the largest was 17. I don't expect this to be cake walk easy, and hopefully WJ will execute like they did in the 2nd half last week vs George County, as opposed to what they did in the 1st half.

Picayune an Poplarvile are diversified in their running game. GC is trying to be that, but all I saw in the 2nd half was QB run.

Louisville Brookhaven (this game @ Brookhaven) After 5 games, there is nothing to suggest Brookhaven could lose to Laurel at home, and also been nothing to suggest Laurel winning this game at any venue. Oak Grove Still seeing visions of multiple open West Jones receivers running by their selves through Petal secondary. Picayune Pascagoula only averaging 16 points per game. I don't think that will be enough here.

most of the Hurricane models today shifting East and show it weakening before landfall. The more east (pensacola,..etc.) better for us, as we will be on weaker west side. But, those models could change next day or so too.

I so hope they do. That would be a direct indictment of Mississippi having 7 classes in Sports. If the shame and embarrassment of 2 losing record teams, playing for a State Championship doesn't bother MHSSA enough to do something, nothing ever will.

Great game last night. One that both teams deserved to win. Each team was landing haymakers in the 2nd half, and both kept getting up off the mat each time. The rivalry may be back now. WC is certainly on the way back. Laurel and Brookhaven better get ready.
