Nash an WC ran all over Hattiesburg. Looked like some of the d-line guys checked out when they got behind on the scoreboard. May have been out game planned too.

In the 2nd half, I think it was the scoring play for Brookhaven that finally gave them a lead. Mis-direction play, Left tackle(74?) pulled around the center and right guard and absolutely de-cleated a West Point LB that was coming to fill the hole. The announcers saw it and replayed it. My 1st thought on the replay was it looked exactly like a scene out of Blind Side and Michael Orr. Not sure if 74 is on anyone's radar, but he should send that video to every SEC school.

What a 2nd half for Brookhaven. Glad I don't gamble on football for a living. I would be homeless. Maybe we committed guilt by association on Ole Brook. It was obvious 5A South was weaker this year. Gautier moved up to 6A and no other team from the coast stepped up. South Jones looked great early and then absolutely fell apart. Easy to assume that ALL 5A South was weak, but Brookhaven certainly was not.

I think Hattiesburg has it all lined up to knock that door down. They seem to have put it all together toward the end of this season. Not just winning, but winning rather easily lately. But I would not take Warren Central lightly either.

He is the 5th highest paid coach in the SEC right now. And the very moments that Florida and LSU jobs came open, His name was the absolute 1st one mentioned for both. If it was you, wouldn't that make you feel like you should at least be in the top 3? I think he stays and this is nothing more than him getting the money (and recognition...). Maybe not Kirby money because of the Natties, but certainly equal or above DeBoer and Sarkisian. Those 2 haven't won anything either as HCs.

2 good teams here, and both seem to be peaking at the end of the year. I think it will be a slugfest, very physical. And the winner gets Picayune. That's not a team you want to face if you got beat up some the week before.

It wasn’t that he kept the starters in. It was the obvious hurry up offense an repeated on side kicks. You don’t do that late 2nd half with a running clock. The whole point of the running clock is to get an already decided contest over.

maybe Hattiesburg a little, but I think its more so that people are just moving to the west Hattiesburg area. It has all the amenities, shopping, restaurants, etc. And also in search of better educations for their kids. Same thing that made the Petal School district explode. You would be surprised how many people that live in Petal and West Hattiesburg work in Laurel at Howard Industries too. They employ nearly 5000 people.

Yep, once Oak Grove filled up, Sumrall and Purvis following that same blueprint. And Columbia to some extent.

Looking at the Hancock yearly stats. My goodness, the QB Koenenn appears to be the whole offense. 1200 rushing and over 1900 yards passing. That's a lot for one player and over 10 games, he is averaging 300 per game total. Sounds like the West Jones defense should focus on stopping him.

NEJ 14. Wayne County 7. Final Laurel. 7. South Jones 3. Final Laurel doing Laurel, make a late push in a terrible 5A South, hosting a 1st round game. Laurel got focused an had 1 good 6 play drive starting 3rd QTR. that’s all it took.

Northeast Jones 14. Wayne County 7 3:12 4th Laurel 7 South Jones 3 3:00 4th

bunch of games here in Jones County area Thursday. South Jones @ Laurel Jim Hill @ West Jones Northeast Jones @ Wayne County

Of the 7 classes, I think Heidelberg in 2A and Columbia in 4A are the closest to being a sure thing right now.

football is a physical game, and Hattiesburg was way more physical Friday night. In the 1st qtr, #6 Holmes was absolutely destroyed returning a kickoff. Not sure why you have your star RB returning those, but he was not the same after that hit. As Merlin noted, West Jones coaches had no answer for Hattiesburg's blitzing either.
-
Hattiesburg 41. West Jones 20 final the better prepared team won, Keyes is good as advertised.
-
Long TD pass Keys Hattiesburg 41 20 start 4th
-
Hattiesburg 27 West Jones 6. Half Hattiesburg blitzing on defense every play. West didn’t have a plan for that. Maybe we thought that was illegal, it’s not.
-
On 2nd thought, no advantage for West Jones on special teams.
-
i don't think it's been that bad. Punter is above average for high school. FG kicker, although not great range, has been consistent. And we have blocked several punts and extra points this year, which is part of special teams.
