Everything cranks up this weekend for sure. I think it will be very hard for anybody to sweep State. You may have to face 1 or even 2 legit weekend aces, but I just can't see anyone holding that offense down for 3 games in a row. Arkansas RPI and SOS kinda weak thus far, so this may be a chance to steal a rare road SEC series. I think Ole Miss takes at least one game at Texas, too.

What a game this was. I thought USM had blown there best chance in the 6th. 1st and 2nd no outs, fail to get the bunt down, and promptly hit into inning ending DP. Both teams pitched/played at a very high level. Lot of baseball left, but USM looks like they could be this years Coastal Carolina team. 15-2 now with 37 left. Win 30 to finish with 45 RS wins, and with the work they have done already, will certainly be a national seed. Haven't seen the OM weekend starters, but if they are as good at Taylor Rabe and some of the other arms that pitched last night, this team can hold their own and then some in the SEC gauntlet. They won't have to have the top offense to win their share of games.

yes, 2 good mid week games. USM bullpen didn't have to cover a whole lot of innings over the weekend. Coach Oz should have pretty much everyone available other than the 3 weekend starters. He used 9 guys in both the Alabama and Miss State mid week games, so may see something like that again.

That was a tough turn around for USM after the Tuesday night game. I'm sure the players were pretty amped up From beating MS. But, no excuses, you have to be ready to play. That's 2 years in a row for Nicholls beating USM. I try to be as objective as possible, but when you see certain things happening twice or more, that to me constitutes a trend. Starting a weekend rotation pitcher, squeeze bunting every time you get a runner on 3rd,..etc etc. is kinda Bush league to me. Certainly not illegal though, but we all know there are unwritten rules in baseball. May sound like sour grapes, but I really don't care. I have seen ALOT of baseball in over 50 years, guess I'm just old school on that sorta stuff. May be time to tell Nicholls thanks, but no thanks, go play at Baton Rogue in the midweek.

This was as good of a mid-week game as you will see. Minus the week end pitchers, both were impressive. Miss State's 1-9 lineup should match up with the best in the country, and USM's bullpen has been deep and very good all year. In the 3-run 7th when MS took the lead, the flare pop-up that fell down the left field line probably should have been an out but that's baseball. Would love to see both in Omaha.

USM puts 5 on the OS bullpen. Final Eagles 9 OS 4. Joey Higden 1st inning HR, triple an 2 RBI single. His OPS this season is +1400.

USM took 1-0 lead top1st, Joey Urban HR. OS 3 run HR bottom 5th. Eagles answer top of 6th, triple single an Gillespie HR. Great game, but not paying D1 baseball $29 to stream 3 weekend games. Both teams into bullpen now.

USM was in control of this game but gave up 3 in the 8th, an had to get out of a bases loaded jam in the top of the 9th and then walked it off. Huge an much needed win with Oregon State on deck Saturday.

and Pearl also. They finished 3 - 9 , but beat Petal and played Northwest Rankin very close.

Miss State thumps Troy last night 13-7, while USM bests Southeastern Louisiana 3-1. That was a well played game, both sides. USM used 8 pitchers, recorded 9 K's by the 5th innning.

USM going with Colby Allen, Grayden Harris, and McCarty English this weekend. Allen will be missed at the backend of games, but can't argue with putting him on Friday. That game sets the tone for the weekend. Harris was impressive last year as a true Freshman too. This could be a very formidable rotation.

My goodness Josh Hubbard, absolutely torching Oklahoma in 2nd half.

yep, deserving is the key word. It should be changed to allow a G5 if they are truly ranked in the top 16, but not a guaranteed spot for them. No way an argument could have been made that Tulane or James Madison were better this year than Notre Dame, or even Texas or Vandy.

Nash an WC ran all over Hattiesburg. Looked like some of the d-line guys checked out when they got behind on the scoreboard. May have been out game planned too.

In the 2nd half, I think it was the scoring play for Brookhaven that finally gave them a lead. Mis-direction play, Left tackle(74?) pulled around the center and right guard and absolutely de-cleated a West Point LB that was coming to fill the hole. The announcers saw it and replayed it. My 1st thought on the replay was it looked exactly like a scene out of Blind Side and Michael Orr. Not sure if 74 is on anyone's radar, but he should send that video to every SEC school.

What a 2nd half for Brookhaven. Glad I don't gamble on football for a living. I would be homeless. Maybe we committed guilt by association on Ole Brook. It was obvious 5A South was weaker this year. Gautier moved up to 6A and no other team from the coast stepped up. South Jones looked great early and then absolutely fell apart. Easy to assume that ALL 5A South was weak, but Brookhaven certainly was not.

I think Hattiesburg has it all lined up to knock that door down. They seem to have put it all together toward the end of this season. Not just winning, but winning rather easily lately. But I would not take Warren Central lightly either.

He is the 5th highest paid coach in the SEC right now. And the very moments that Florida and LSU jobs came open, His name was the absolute 1st one mentioned for both. If it was you, wouldn't that make you feel like you should at least be in the top 3? I think he stays and this is nothing more than him getting the money (and recognition...). Maybe not Kirby money because of the Natties, but certainly equal or above DeBoer and Sarkisian. Those 2 haven't won anything either as HCs.
-
2 good teams here, and both seem to be peaking at the end of the year. I think it will be a slugfest, very physical. And the winner gets Picayune. That's not a team you want to face if you got beat up some the week before.

It wasn’t that he kept the starters in. It was the obvious hurry up offense an repeated on side kicks. You don’t do that late 2nd half with a running clock. The whole point of the running clock is to get an already decided contest over.
