It means they are in trouble. I hope we don't find out. I know Terry is unbeaten and will be tough, but the only decent team they have played is Canton. They should be 6 and 0 after Friday, but a lot of teams would be with that schedule.

I wasn't bothered by the South Jones loss. They are a good 5-A playoff team this year. You could see the improvement Harrington was making starting last year. The Petal loss, well that's another story. The defense was going to be a work in process from the get go, and I expected them to improve over the year, but they have lost some key dudes to injury. Even withstanding the Petal performance, the WJ offense is good enough to make it to South State, but the defense could get them beat in the 1st round just as easily. And we can grade our coach on how well this team rebounds Friday night @ George County.

He inherited possibly the best defense in West Jones history 2 years ago to win the SC. Once they left the cupboard was not empty by no means and a good coach keeps that momentum going. He has not. The talent is still there. The community support is still there. Who then is responsible?

This ain’t the same Petal that boat raced Hattiesburg by the way in August. Much better an the win over Gulfport looks really strong now. OG may win but I expect a good game.

Yep Petal is a legit 7A playoff team in the best 7A region in the state. With a HOF coach too.

as to this game, I'm going with West Jones. The Laurel and Northeast Jones victories may not have seemed impressive score-wise, but I have seen some areas where West will be more effective, specifically on offense and the passing game. Last year, it was more or less, hand it to the 230 lb running back. QB Lindsey was either out or playing with a bum arm and couldn't throw it 15 yards. Not the case this year. And West coaches are notorious for holding back plays and formations early in the year, until they need them later, and also limiting Lindsey from running to prevent an injury. Defense does have some new faces, but also some veterans, so I expect them to only improve, barring injury.

It will still be a happy time, until Dec.4th and 7:31pm

This should be a pretty good game. If South Jones can pull off a win, I think we must consider them along with Brookhaven, as possible 5A South favorites to be the sacrificial lamb for West Point in December.
