Bilderback will be a tough get with his wife vested as women’s basketball coach at Jones College. It works for them now living in Hattiesburg area and both commuting to Ellisville and Columbia respectively. He would be a great hire but I do not know if it would be doable.

Anything is doable if the money is right. $

As a Gulfport Alumni, I would like to see them go for an experienced coach that has had success at a previous program. My reservation with an out of state candidate would be how long will they be willing to stay? I do not want a coach that plans to be here for 5 or so years to get vested in Mississippi and then bolt out again. I would love to see Gulfport go after a guy like Tyrone Shorter. I doubt he would be interested in leaving the program he has built in Louisville, but I would make him tell me no. Great pay, great lifestyle and a nice area with solid schools. Gulfport is a good job that could be something special with the right guy in charge. The power-I and wing-T looks will not fly at Gulfport. The fans and community hate that style of play and you would hear nothing but complaints when Gulfport was running the pistol/flexbone a few years ago and reeled off 3 straight region titles.

I like W's and State Championships over style of play. Gulfport should be in position for a deep run in the playoffs every year. I know in '77 when Gulfport  and Gulfport East consolidated they were considered state champions pre playoff days of course but nothing since in football. Going to play em in B. Frank Brown in basketball is a different story though!!!😎😎😎

Russell Mitchell is a really good choice. He came through the Picayune system. But he did a really great job at Oak Grove as offensive coordinator.  He loves to spread u out and throw the football.

Interesting line of thought there and I agree wholeheartedly, but I'm not so sure he would want to leave Germantown after one season though.

John Feaster another Picayune Alum may not be a bad pick. Had a great run this year.

This is a good thought. He's experienced in spreading folks out and ramming it up the middle. Should be able to adapt either of those systems. GPT has good athletes.

OS didn't find their coach from the Jackson area.  They found him at Pass Christian after he lead them to the playoffs in his first year.  But he was the OC at Clinton before that.

Yep, I just kind of skipped that year in the Pass. He made his reputation up in Clinton, and will be the first to admit that he’s had two great QBs in Cam Akers and Bray Hubbard. Gulfport would be lucky to hire somebody that turns out that good.

Well if you guys want a good laugh, I was told this morning that Walters is going after Pennock from Ocean Springs. Was told Walters truly believes they can pull Pennock from his set up at Ocean Springs currently.

Wishful thinking in my eyes.  They would definitely have to break out the check book for him to even consider that move.

Great pay, solid facilities and good athletes. Should command a ton of interest. Hopefully they make a quality hire.

You know more about the coast than I do for sure. What about the Guatier coach? I know he had a great QB and plenty of skilled players around him. I was really impressed with them I know Gulfport has talent galore. I think he could put together a very good team

He has been the HFC at Gautier for 4 years and has two playoff appearances in that time despite having a generational talent at QB. You take Kaden Irving off that team and what would their record be? High capitalized on a great situation with his QB and skill players. All of that is out the door now and I believe Gautier is going to step back to what they have been the past 15 years. Now, I will say this, if Gautier can become consistently competitive starting next year, I will give credit where it is due, but I just do not have faith in Marc High being a great ball coach. The Picayune game for South State proved to me he was in over his head. No adjustments offensively or defensively. It was like they expected Picayune to not adjust to anything from the first game and it got them beat. They were unprepared and it showed. Just based on track record, it was a lightening in a bottle type of season for Gautier that probably won’t happen for a while. If I am wrong, I like my crow medium rare lol.

Wow I didn’t know his record we had not played them in a few years. When they beat us in the playoffs that was the first win ever over us. I know they had went through a few coaches. Man this team was loaded offensively to think they lost the first game of the season and the last in the fashion they did you’re probably right.

I truly believe myself, you, Slick, and a few of the picayune faithful could have coached Gautier to what they did this season. LOL! I am kidding obviously. I believe High is a good motivator. I just also believe he struggles with in game adjustments and preparation as a whole. They have lost some head scratchers since he has been their coach. Most of those deficiencies were masked this year with them having a veteran group that began the season with 9 or so seniors starting on offense and another 7 on defense. They played in a region where outside of maybe 1 or 2 teams, nobody could match their athletes and they run a great scheme with arguably one of the best QB’s from the coast ever running the show. It was a recipe for a great season.

Too many holes in his game . He doesn’t have enough plays in his notebook to make adjustments.

Gulfport needs to leave Stocstill be. He will get his chance to move up in another direction soon enough. They can have anyone else.

They should make the Louisville coach say no to moving out of them dam woods and closer to the water .
