Here is the real problem: too many schools no longer fear the MHSAA because they do not believe the MHSAA has the backbone to impose a punishment that actually hurts. If the reports are accurate that Brandon has violated the football practice rule for a second straight year, then another weak probation does nothing except reinforce that belief. I have talked with athletic directors who openly question whether the MHSAA is willing to come down hard on the powerful programs in Central Mississippi. I have heard administrators say they do not believe MHSAA leadership wants to “go down that road.” Think about what that says about enforcement. If schools believe they can break a rule, take a probation, and keep rolling with no meaningful consequence, then why would anybody fear violating the rule again? Probation without teeth is just paperwork. At some point, repeat violations should bring consequences that actually matter—loss of contests, postseason restrictions, meaningful fines, suspensions, or whatever penalties the MHSAA rulebook legally allows and applies consistently. This is bigger than Brandon. The MHSAA either has authority over all of its member schools, or it does not. A 1A school in rural Mississippi should not have to wonder whether it would receive a harsher punishment than one of the biggest programs in Central Mississippi. Same rulebook. Same enforcement. Same consequences. Until schools believe there is a real price for repeatedly breaking the rules, the MHSAA should not be surprised when some programs stop being afraid of getting caught.

If there is no documentation showing that a threat of termination or an ultimatum was made at the time he resigned, then the resignation would generally be considered voluntary. Statements made after the fact, on their own, do not establish that he was forced to resign. At this point, the issue is less about differing interpretations and more about confirming what actually took place during the meeting. The documentation and meeting records should clarify that.

For clarity, under Mississippi law and most district policies, a school board cannot legally fire or discipline a coach on its own without a recommendation from the superintendent. Personnel supervision and disciplinary recommendations are administrative functions, not board-level, day-to-day operations. The board’s role is to approve or reject personnel actions that are properly recommended by the superintendent. When a board initiates or directs personnel action without that recommendation, it risks violating its own policies and exceeding its legal authority, which can expose the district to legal action.

It’s been brought to my attention, parents have found a new loop hole with getting their kids eligible to play in district that they don’t live in. These parents are filing for divorce and claiming the students are living in their new district with one of their parents. I know of two players that are currently do this. The misshsaa has told both school’s complaining that they don’t investigate cases involving a divorce. In both cases I know about these kids are living with finds during the week. Heck the parents still live together and come to the games together. Anyone else heard of this happening?

Heard Harrison Central was looking for a game. Moss Point canceled on them.

I also heard it was Jeff Stockstill.

Rumors on the coast have a certain left hand QB from OS transferring to Moss Point. Anyone know if this is accurate or not?

Are players allowed to follow coaches who move from school to local school?

Let them go. They need to shut down some of these smaller schools anyway. -

Why can't he take his recruits with him. He brought them to OS. Come on man, no one has any sympathy for OS. They have been stealing players from neighboring schools for years. -

You are correct. It can come from another school but the complaint has to come from a school's principal. -

I say open it all up. A kid can play wherever they want. Granted that they provide their own transportation. Kind of like they do in Florida. We got this kids ready for the next level. Lol. HS portal lol. -

I say just open it up like they do in Florida. A kid can go to any school they want as long as they provide their on transportation I am pretty sure it has to come from the principal. -

OS administration is the only one that can file a formal complaint. But we all know they are not gonna do that because how do you think he got to OS in the first place. -

This is called Hilarious. Everyone on the coast OS has been recruiting for years. It was going on before Pennock and it will continue to go on because the Misshsaa wont do anything about it. Heck it was even a running joke at the ALL-STATE selection meeting. Pennock walked in the meeting and a coach asked him how his recruiting class was going. The look on a red faced Pennock was priceless. -
The headmaster is just a figure head. The money people run that school. That is why they can't keep a coach.

I was wondering about this. Alot of titles going out at Gulfport. If I had to bet, Green will be the one calling the defense.

I agree with you on the biggest surprise so far. I would have bet my house that Marcus was done coaching. With today's society 40 openings doesn't surprise me. Parents are driving coaches out of the profession in droves. Along with unrealistic demands from administrators.

Any word when they will start interviews?

Who would want him at this stage? Look at the way he left his last two jobs at Biloxi and Philadelphia. I would rather give someone else a chance.

Exactly my reaction . But I have heard that name floating around from a few people.
