Pillow Academy is doomed.
-
Be interesting to see if Starkville’s big time transfer quarterback sticks around. He’ll be handing it off a lot I would think.
-
They went 6-5 last year. May already be there.
-
I saw today where Shay Hodge is leaving Jackson Academy after winning them a state championship. The word is they are making a big push for a few kids from Ridgeland, a soccer player from Callaway, and a couple of Madison Central football players. I guess the lawsuit has not slowed them down.

Public schools provide access to a free education to all kids in the state. If parents chooses to not take advantage of that and opts to send their kid to a segregationists academy, Catholic school, or wherever else that’s fine. But those schools can deny kids for whatever reason and aren’t held to the same standards as public schools and should not receive public money. Jackson Academy is a good example. A parent criticizes them for their recruiting and they retaliated by kicking the kid out of school. Which they can do because they are a private institution. They can kick kids out for whatever reason they want. But they shouldn’t get tax dollars if this is the case. Also most of these private schools are not interested in growing. They are at compacity and have waitlist. In some cases they only find room for certain students like athletic recruits. All they are going to do is stay the same size and increase tuition like they have in the other states that have implemented “school choice”. So all you would be doing is sending tax dollars to pay for a private service to people who could already afford it.

I don’t think it ever passes. But if it did and people got $6700 vouchers for private school I’m inclined to think that the private schools would just raise their tuition by $6700. Free money and they don’t have to build more buildings or hire more teachers.

Well Coach Jones left and went to Hinds where he is instantly made their program better and competive. And Starkville hired a guy who went 4-6 the year before at Clinton and he lead the Yellow Jackets to their worst season in about a decade. I’d say there’s a bit of a hole there.
-
Word is that both New Hope’s QB and RB are going to Starkville. I don’t think they are related to each other. I guess sharing a residence or something since they going at the same time? Regardless, I’m not sure it can replace the hole left by Chris Jones’ departure.
-
Eugene Clinton is the guy.

I would think if they were going to promote the interim, it would have already been done they must be going outside. I’ve heard Jack Wright, Chris Jones, Herbert Davis, Bramlett, Pennock, Schoolar, Cooper, Stockstill. but I think those might just be rumors. Not sure that any of them have legs.
-
I’m hearing they are hoping to make a hire by August.
-
I just heard that the coach at Hinds and the Coach at gulf coast are in the mix. Those would be big time.
-
Still no smoke? All I ever hear is Pennock but it’s kind of hard to believe that at this point.
-
So I guess that means they are going to go with an outside hire. Disappointing to hear. I imagine it would be tough to attract a top tier candidate after running off Pogue mid season.
