I guess I never really put a welcome out to Pound . I was too busy dancing over the carcass of Bubba Hathorne whic h I have to admit it's mighty good. Nobody loves WC more than Tracey. There was most certainly those who had better resumes but as far as deserving the chance to be the next head coach it was Pound or Kat who has his eye set on bigger things than HC of football, proud for you Kat . With that said there is a lot of doubt surrounding Lampley but that has always been lurking around him. People telling him couldn't do something fuels him like nothing else. So don't be surprised when he knocks it out of the park. It's his show now and one could say what's going to be different than his last staff positions . Tracey has always been about leadership and being a team player, It will be interesting to see how he approaches being out front now. The one thing I can say about him on that field is when called upon he was always right there and he never, ever missed the mark . He wanted the ball in his hands when it was all on the line. There's no need in going through the results most everyone knows them. So here is where I stand on it. Tracy is my man at WC now. I'm going to roll with him and let the chips fall where they may. The ball is in his hands again now just in a different way. Welcome back Pound. It's been way too long.2 points

That’s truly awful — unnecessarily busy, distracting, and the eagle logo leaves much to be desired. I’m very familiar with bad logos. Here at Pascagoula we may have the worst logo on the state.2 points

A little to busy for me I’m old school I like the interlocking WC or a WC helmet would look great2 points

The eagle looks cool. Still think they should have kept the interlocking “WC” in center2 points

There is supposed to be an airing of the grievances this evening at the old converted field house that was turned into a sort of stabbin cabin that Branch and Bubba would hole up in doing god knows what. Carry plenty of hand sanitizer and use it if you touch anything in there. I wish I could make it there . I really wish. You won't get any of this from the local news. I will try to make this concise. Those concerned will speak to the board about their questions . Let's be honest it's about Lampley or Gandy not being given a fair shot and they are right. They are right. That was put in place by Hathorne. The madam asst. supt is just along for the ride. The name she is supposed to turn in is a dam good coach and I wouldn't to make tht decision. Coach with the better resume or two guys that got screwed over last time by Hathorne five years ago. Two guys that have the WC brand burned into them. They have the dam scars and that means something to me. For me making that choice would be agony x1000.I'm hearing someone with some strole got involved after Coach Chapman said no more of these sham interviews and told her who she was going to turn in. Hathorne didnt like it but cowered like usual when he didnt have the upper hand. There is still time I guess to pull a fast one but I doubt it. Back when the state got involved with the whole failing school sham ten years ago more or less almost everyone left ,.Only Bubba and his buddy Branch he called over were left as voices from Wayne County to the state. There were certain people on the board that got friendly with them too but are gone now. Any time Hathorne wants to threaten someone he calls his friends in Jax and they give him backing. What the people in Jackson saw was a school district flush with assets and right then went to work to gain control of them. They pretty much did with the friendly, scared board at that time and the imbecile Branch as their installed puppet. Fast forward to now and this current board is not so friendly to these connections so they are meddling every way they can. They would like nothing more than this coaching search flop to turn over board members in this next election to people more agreeable to their requests. I hope it doesn't happen. They already have rigged the supt. selection process now they want control of school boards statewide . Not because they care about students, they want control of those assets. Under state law now each county handles those assets as they see fit and dont even have to report what they do. So when you get up to speak your mind tonight direct your ire at the right people. That board is the only voice the people of Wayne County have left in their school system and deserve a measure of respect.Demand to know who this supt in waiting and by default Hathorne answer to in Jackson. Demand to know why they lied about this so called selection committee. Demand to know why must everything be a secret now. It hasn't always been that way. Demand to know why last month Hathorne got up there and boasted about all the troublemakers that had been dismissed from the football tean during his time as principal and hasn't been called to the carpet for it. He should be dismissed, no contract, no resignation acceptance , no retirement, no paycheck. See you in court fat man. I am still angry about it. I tried to be concise but rambled on I guess. Pray for peace and wisdom tonight Wayne County it's out of our hands now.2 points

It was unacceptable because you have two people who screwed everything up to begin with on the committee making the decision. From what I’ve heard, the retired coach is telling people that nobody had a say except Bubba and the interim superintendent2 points

It’s not about skin color, never has been for me. It’s about getting the best out of those kids wearing those uniforms. There’s people that understand that and then there’s people that make it about this or that. I will give whoever gets the job my support.2 points

How anyone who is a member of a school board, be it the superintended, or the desk clerk, could allow an outgoing principle, who was more or less forced to resign, and after the contempt for board members he showed back in December, have any say in filling any job openings, is complete lunacy. He should have been fired for insubordination before new years.2 points

This is true but is his application one of the ones that made the cut? We may never know because someone wants to leave his mark. If I’m on this school board I’m rejecting every recommendation that he has a part in. He’s only looking to keep his buddies moving up the ladder. He’s not worried about the community getting involved as a matter of fact he doesn’t want that to happen.2 points

In thinking about this. What does it really matter what rules they put in place when they selectively enforce what they have now. Do we really see that changing?2 points

Based on the region they are in they will win it every year which pretty much guarantees them a north half appearance. i could probably find a way to win 10 games at West Point and in the words of Forest Gump….. “I’m not a very smart man”. Who’s going to challenge them in the North? Cleveland - too soft Holmes - too “spread” Lafayette - too wh… I mean slow2 points

I’m not one to doomcast people into the transfer portal…. But if for some reason Josh Hubbard decides he wants to play for an upper tier team in his last year, look no further than last night for a big reason why. Hubbard scored 31, no other State player was in double figures, and they lost by 9 at home. I’m still someone who thinks pretty highly of Jans, but man what on earth happened with the construction of this team. It’s Hubbard and a bunch of dudes who simply are not very good basketball players.2 points

On State, I think it’s mostly a middle relief thing. I think the three weekend starters are solid at worst, and occasionally very good, and I think Davis will be fine on the back end more often than not. It’s the bridge guys out of the pen that they’ve gotta solidify. Tonight was kind of a rough showing on the mound until the last couple of innings, and State used what I would consider to be the overwhelming majority of their best bullpen arms in this game. Definitely something to monitor. Maddox Miller was a bright spot, though, I think he has a chance to really step into a big role as the season goes on. This State offense, though. Man. You gotta get all 27 outs against them. Tulane had a great plan for 6 innings, and then it unraveled QUICKLY in the 7th and 8th. And in the snap of the finger State goes from down 5 to winning the game by 4. Don’t get me wrong, they’re not going to score double digit runs every game in SEC play, and some pitching staffs are just going to have good games against State. But I don’t recall State ever having a lineup this deep, not even some of the great teams State has had historically. USM just keeps winning, man. Love their pitching staff and and think they’ve got as good of a shot now as they’ll ever have to be a Top 8 seed in June. I think Ole Miss will be fine too, their pitching is a lot better than I expected it to be. We will see what this weekend brings. General rule of thumb on the road in the SEC is just don’t get swept, so State and OM could probably live with a 1-2 weekend. I think I like State’s chances to take their series a little better than OM’s chances, simply because I think Arkansas is a little shaky and Texas has looked dominant so far. But very little would surprise me, especially in the State-Arkansas series. It’s been a long time since State has won a series in Fayetteville, and a ton of State-Arkansas series recently have ended in sweeps.1 point

Keep in mind they have an interim superintendent. Bubba is resigning as principle. Don’t think he isn’t going to try to get the sup spot.1 point

Early trend I’m monitoring with State is the bullpen. I’m not sounding full on alarm bells yet, but there are some shaky qualities to it and still certainly a lot to prove once you get late in tight games.1 point

Well I think he’s saying that’s the only thing you really have to know about schedules for next season. The schedules are the same as they were last year for the most part, just swap the home and away.1 point

You had the opportunity to hire Mitch Evans last night and you blew it because of outside pressure from the local community who want to hire a local guy. And now Evans has probably pulled his name out after they tabled to vote. Y’all think Hathorne is trying screw everything up, but the reality is that’s probably not the case. He and the superintendent tried to hire Mitch Evans, but the board is getting all the pressure from the local community who who want their own hometown guy so now it’s all in limbo again. You cannot conduct business that way. When you have a high quality coach like that who is willing to take the job, you have to capitalize on that opportunity. You never try to please the local fanbase when hiring a coach, because the reality is the average fan doesn’t know crap about the game anyway. Fans are just passionate, very seldom are they rationale. You have to hire the best candidate for the job.1 point

^^^ Well, that would be interesting. I’d actually like that. It would at least add a little excitement to an otherwise very uninteresting season.1 point

They don’t even have self-checkouts at Dollar General anymore. They thought it would help with shrink, but instead it’s done the opposite. The employees are outside smoking for 6 hours on an 8 hour shift. It makes cashiers and cash registers totally pointless.1 point

This Mitchell dude from North Ms right ? Not really another bum that stumbled into a title and has drove it in the ditch. He's another Reynolds but this one worked in Lauderdale County instead. Oh and his offense looks identical to Hankins . We all loved that right . Who could forget the excitement of not knowing which of three plays would be sprung on the defense next ? Hell I'm yawning now just thinking about it . Flood the District office with calls about Hathorne . He's running a victory lap picking up everyone with a have a wing t will travel sign, He's not going to stop on his own he's going to have to be shut down.and no one over there seems willing to do it I think he has all those women he's circled himself with bullied . You say you require a coach with a title at the higher level ? How about the one sitting across the table that won one just across the street and is back to do it again ? In a stadium , building , athletic training complex he built He bult them not Shelton , or Hathorn or Jerk Hankins. Todd Mangum built them. This isn't hard. Hathorne is making it hard and self serving.1 point

He’s a very good coach but the community is only going to back one or two candidates. I’m going to post this and it’s probably going to make some people mad but it’s not my intention. On another site someone posted the candidates that they knew of. In the comments underneath there was a comment made are there any black candidates. Unfortunately that’s how a lot are looking at it they’re not worrying about the best coach. To many people White and Black in Wayne County are turning it into a racial thing. I don’t care White,Black, Brown etc…. Give me the best available coach that can bring the team together and win. I’ve known Tracey Lampley pretty much all his life, Kevin Gandy if either get it I would be thrilled and support them on the other hand if Todd Mangum or Chris Boone gets the job I’ll do the same.just hire a good COACH!!!!1 point

You heard absolutely correct. I know this is a football board but if our BOE doesn’t hire this lady as Superintendent they are messing up. I not talking about sports but more importantly to out kids education wise. She is more than qualified, she will not be ran over, she will be fair and she is from Wayne County with two kids in school there and one that graduated from WC. I’ve known her for many years she was sent to turn a middle school in the county around and she did just that making it the highest scoring school in the county before they moved her to the county office. So yes Slick she’s the right person for the job and doesn’t hide things like prior administrations did1 point

State @ Ole Miss tomorrow night. I will go back to my mantra. One team will lose this game and one team will not lose this game. I will say State has about 75% of losing and Ole Miss has about a 75% of chance of not losing. And that is being conservative, probably more like 85-90% if we are being honest.1 point

McPherson-Foster-Valincius the announced weekend rotation for State to start the year. Not surprised by McPherson getting Friday, a little surprised that Foster got Saturday over Valincius. If that is an indication that Foster has taken a noticeable step up then this has a chance to be an elite rotation. All three guys are very very talented. And all three only sophomores who won’t be 21 until late 2026 or early 2027…. So a real chance this could be the starting rotation for the next two years.1 point

The problem most people have is giving money to private schools. When you consider half the vouchers were designated for those already in private school, it looks like more of a giveaway program. The senators who killed the bill listened to their voters and some in the house did not.1 point
