Mississippi doesn't even have enough high schools for 6 classes much less 7. And no matter how many you have, no more than half should make the playoffs. When 4 out of 6 division teams make the playoffs, it becomes like a trophy for everyone. Ridiculous!

That’s not the case for Forest. Forest will have already played their first region game, and would have had Raymond the next week after Raleigh. They just chickened out. There’s no other explanation.

Believe it or not, some schools don’t have to recruit. Tupelo is one of those schools. Let’s be honest, Tupelo recruits itself. They have all the resources in that area. Numerous kids are going off to play college ball. Great academics!!! Top notch facilities with good coaches and a ton of support from the administration and community. Families move to Tupelo or they send their kids there by using a relative address. My family moved to Tupelo from the Delta because we had better resources and opportunities.

Vott this has nothing to do with Petal at Hattiesburg. If you want to address his comment, he’s mentioning WR corps. You know that’s like pissing in the wind at Picayune. If we ever get a guy to have double digit receptions in a game, that record would take decades to break. We would all be witnesses to history being made if that ever happened.

Sorry, but breaking in an entire new o line will take more than 1 quarter. Probably more than a couple games. Hattiesburg, as much as yall don’t want to accept, are not to the point of reloading immediately after loosing a large group of talented 3 year starters like you just had graduate. And the coaches know it or they would not have been openly recruiting so much this offseason trying to quickly piece together a team they think might be capable of winning.

7 classes have given us 5 team regions with 1-9 records making the playoffs. With all the open dates this year its going to be some 1-8 records in the playoffs. Right now in 2A you have 4 team regions all 4 in the playoffs and yes 0-10 goes as a 4 seed. In 1A north you have appx 10 nonfootball schools out of roughly 24 or so. That means you have 6 team regions with up to 3 non football teams in the region. Somewhere 1 seeds get buys now. 1A set up has to change or simply go back to 4 regions maybe 6 regions if it can be worked out fairly. With 6 there will be some buys. At least those schools get back to 10 game seasons and not 8 game seasons. 6 classes were better. 5 classes is probably where we need to be even if it leaves 3 teams per region at home. And now we have coaches that won't schedule certain teams or certain coaches for what ever reason. Like Forest dropping Raleigh or Bay Springs dropping Raleigh because the excuse was in Spring of 25 that Raleigh players hurt us then you schedule a team 3 hours away. Coaches have got to get tougher in some areas. Consolidation is or will happen over time. Nothing you can do but grow your county or your town.

I liked that trip to Brandon a couple of years ago. Took the day off. Went to Bass Pro and ate at Cock of the Walk on the Res and still had time to kill LOL. Tib was there too so it's definitely a good memory.

Unfortunately we have left the times of “where is the right in any of that” and entered the time of. “If it is profitable for us/me then it must be right regardless of its impact on others”.

I get what you are saying man and maybe the thread kind of veer away from the thread title but i think it went in the right direction. If the post season in our state were a half trashy wedding, Tupelo would have been the chubby ring bearer with a flat top mullet haircut from noxapeter. Then after people who would know, said they were recruiting they suddenly get a new position in the hierarchy. It has already resulted in one recent title and almost got another. They got scolded by I really don’t know who up there in Clinton but judging by the team of junior college size players from last year, they are laughing at your reprimand. Gulfport was being mentioned along with Hattiesburg but judging by some people in the Pine belt, Hattiesburg seems to be more brazen. There was some confusion maybe on purpose about what’s allowed or not allowed by the fine people that make those calls. That’s where the threads at. Here is the truth of the matter . There are some of the states especially the bigger schools that are starting to skirt the rules. These schools are contenders. It’s wrong. It’s not fair to the teams kids that they play. It creates an advantage that other teams cannot exploit. Where is the right in any of that ? In my gut, I don’t think there is a governing body in place that is capable of handling this problem.

There is no way a head coach can go into any school 4 weeks before the season and have any success. Just go ahead and play the season with the coaches they have now. You really have to feel bad for the players at this point

I do find it funny how Hattiesburg is now the cool school to play at in the pine belt and still can’t buy a state title meanwhile Oak Grove is up to 3 now.

Question. Who/what is TCPS?

Hammond was having his players recruited away( or at least they were trying to ) when the TCPS recruiting scandal hit the fan. TCPS was rolling at the time and was telling players to leave Tupelo because Hammond couldn't get them over the hump. And now Hammond is the HC at TCPS after a short stint of helping at New Albany. They recruit for a reason. Their actual, local talent isn’t good enough. So they go recruit others.

I don’t buy their reasoning either. They just didn’t want to play the game.

Biggersville graduated 13 seniors according to MaxPreps. QB, top 4 leading rushers, top 3 leading receivers, and top 6 leading tacklers. Them and Calhoun City I feel like will be in a definite rebuilding phase this year. That is why I put Leflore County at 2 in the state and above other north teams with them returning most of their offensive and defensive production from last season. I personally think the north is definitely wide open, with Simmons being the clear preseason favorite in the south although teams like Stringer, Nanih Waiya, and maybe even Taylorsville if they get hot again could give them a run for their money.

Nice job of scheduling making us drive to Jackson on back to back Fridays. Hankins must have seen an all night buffet close by when he did this.

It would have to be pretty blatant and stupid for ricky neaves to discipline tupelo in any way. They have kids already penciled in to move following the next school year.

IMO, digital tickets was the dumbest thing ever invented. Paying cash at a ticket booth is the easiest and most convenient way.
