It got announced in another in another thread so I am sure not a lot seen it. Tib passed away suddenly back in December right after I last talked to him. This was a shock to the few that just found out. I will just put what I did in the other thread . I want to see where this one goes for my own reasons. I am not ashamed to say i wept when I found out . I just figured he was busy and waiting on August to start communicating . He busted his tail for his family and would give you the shirt off his back. He was my friend and I already miss Patrick. Every time I look that way where he was always parked my mind will always drift to times he was still here. Save me a seat and we will catch up when I see you again Tib.

Oh yeah I bet Choctaw County, Noxubee County, Raleigh, JDC, Magee, Seminary, Winona are all extremely glad they don’t have to worry about Enterprise.

It definitely allows more schools in the playoffs, but it certainly doesn't make schools more competitive.

I've went back and forth the last few months on what to do to at least keep the memory of my friend alive on here. If it wasn't for this site I would have never known Patrick along with many more over the years. I have been half catch myself waiting to get word from him on how this or that would play out as the season has gotten ready to be kicked off. Tib, myself and a core of about 20-30 people kept this site from being thrown in the trash heap of failed message boards as the years progressed through the 2000s. He butted heads with some but he was a fair person and could let things go in order to move forward. Not a word from certain people has been put in recognition of him by some that have been on here as long as we were and some that haven't been here as long but have acted like they built this site. Hell oldtiger was pinned to the top and grieved there for I don't remember how many years. I'm not lessening his presence on here either but Tib cast just as big a shadow as that. I will even be more frank I think there is a certain one that still holds a grudge against him because Tib proved him wrong in front of us all and he couldn't take it. When I tried to make the peace and get said "person" to meet him halfway to get Tib back on here they flat out refused. Tib was absent from here for a long time behind that but he finally came back at the behest of several of us and this place was better off for it. Tib always resented that situation and honestly so do I with the way it was handled. It was as wrong then as it is now. This site has gotten less and less traffic in the last fifteen years. We are not a family anymore. I will leave everyone to come up with their own reason for why. I know why and no one will convince me otherwise. I don't know how long this will stay up because of what I said above but I really don't care. He would have said it for me. I feel like I could look over my shoulder right now and he would be nodding his head yes. I miss you on this Friday old friend. I know you would be bugging me this morning about going to stand in the rain with you tonight.

Having seen Wayne County this year I can say two things. 1. The athletes to be successful are there right now. Not including the ones who were run off, quit, or decided not to play the past few years. 2. Facilities are great and easily among the top in 5A, if not the state. This has potential to be a really, really good job. The right coach, will have them competing for state championships year in and year out.

I think as the season wore on I wasn't right about any the finalists in 7,6 or 5A and how it would play out. These new classes have really blurred the lines. In person I thought WC and Laurel matched up with Brookhaven size wise. Tonight they looked much bigger than WP and basically just pushed WP around as the game wore on. Brookhaven coach had them ready. Good job . They left no doubt.

I have a perfect solution. Haha. We can have a PowerPoint system and have a losers bracket champion and have 14 championship games.

The “top tier” (largest classification of schools) will always feature a huge disparity. The schools at the bottom of that heap (currently 7A) will statistically fit better and compete more strongly with the classification under them. But, I don’t know that there is a good solution. MS is not large enough for 7 classifications.

Lebby is in good shape. Emotions just need to settle down some. This mentality of discarding coaches after a single loss or even a win is just mind boggling. And we might see coaches staying put rather than jumping from the frying pan into the fire. If I have a good gig, why I am I going to leave that for FL or LSU where I going to be set up for failure.

I look for OG to come out and play as if they were 2-0. If you cant get fired up about playing your crosstown opponent, then something is for sure wrong. If I dont see a packed visitors side that tells me the fans have already given up on them. Despite 0-2 the main goal is still in front of them.

Booneville has a new stadium.

State is a sleeping giant that with the right hire could rack up national championships. As an Ole Miss fan I hope they strike out with the hire lol. Seriously though with the facility and MLB success, there’s no reason why State shouldn’t be a consistent Omaha team year in and year out. It’s a destination location and college baseball blue blood. Ugh I gotta go take a shower and clean up after saying that.

I guess I never really put a welcome out to Pound . I was too busy dancing over the carcass of Bubba Hathorne whic h I have to admit it's mighty good. Nobody loves WC more than Tracey. There was most certainly those who had better resumes but as far as deserving the chance to be the next head coach it was Pound or Kat who has his eye set on bigger things than HC of football, proud for you Kat . With that said there is a lot of doubt surrounding Lampley but that has always been lurking around him. People telling him couldn't do something fuels him like nothing else. So don't be surprised when he knocks it out of the park. It's his show now and one could say what's going to be different than his last staff positions . Tracey has always been about leadership and being a team player, It will be interesting to see how he approaches being out front now. The one thing I can say about him on that field is when called upon he was always right there and he never, ever missed the mark . He wanted the ball in his hands when it was all on the line. There's no need in going through the results most everyone knows them. So here is where I stand on it. Tracy is my man at WC now. I'm going to roll with him and let the chips fall where they may. The ball is in his hands again now just in a different way. Welcome back Pound. It's been way too long.

How do we know the private schools do better than the public schools. What data can we point to to make that claim? I ask private school supporters what accountability model do the private schools use? Most of them don't know what I am talking about. lol I have no problem with private schools, however most of them were/are just segregation academies that just spit baseless rhetoric to justify separating their kids from the public schools. Thats your right as well but you don't get taxpayer money to pay for it. Fund it with your private money. How is that not logical? We don't like welfare in the country unless its welfare that benefits the people that already have the means. Thats backwards. Then they want the money with none of the oversight or policy. BS. I do agree that change needs to happen in public schools. The testing is a real and big issue. They need less oversight as well to allow schools to cater more to their communities and stakeholders. Thats the power of the citizens though. We could get it done but we can't if we just gonna walk away and point fingers. The public school system is the powerhouse of the country. Instead of us wanting to fix it, we want to strip it of all its resources and take it back to our friends and those around us who would benefit. We don't care about the society as a whole. Thats my issue. Come together and force the powers that be to make the schools work for us. But I will never agree to this... never. ITs just more rich people welfare and a guise to benefit those who already have the means.

The best team Wesson has played this season is Franklin County. Their opponents have a combined record of 33-64. Everybody Mize has played is still playing in the 2nd round of the playoffs except for Enterprise Clarke. Mize will be the best team Wesson has played all season. That doesn’t mean Wesson still won’t win. But it won’t be a blowout.

It’s obviously a 4 team pick between Warren Central, South Panola, Lake Cormorant and Grenada. Beginning of the season I would’ve said Warren Central and if they play a complete game I’d still go with them but all four are capable. If Grenada wants to return to the state championship game their secondary is going to have to wake up. ETA: I actually forgot about Ridgeland. They’re a team that could cause some problems in the playoffs. This year in the north is surely more competitive than it was last year.

Can’t help but wonder if all the openings are gonna buy some coaches more time that may have otherwise gotten fired. Additionally, schools like Arkansas, VA Tech, and UCLA that fired their coach super early…. I’m not saying they regret their decision, but the marketplace is insanely crowded now after they were in a hurry to jump into it first. And none of them are close to the best jobs out there.

Not sure what you mean but atleast OGs talent stays in OG to win games and they don’t have to reach out to East Marion, South Jones, Taylorsville, poplarville, Richton to get players to win some games. Maybe try doing it with the players they have. But again that would not be Petal/Boyles tactics. Again congrats on Petal for finally getting over the hump and beating OG for the first time since 2019. Let’s see if they can do it when it matters.

No, you assumed that and associated that all by yourself. When you bring alcohol to a party, the chance of violence increases. When you mix weed and alcohol together, it increases even more. The fact a school allowed that on campus, is really mind blowing to be honest. Sounds like you are wanting to defend the party, and I don’t think that’s good. By all means go throw a party on private property somewhere and smoke and drink all you want. But not at a school.

I totally agree Slick. We all use to try to set up meetings with one another before games just to put faces and real names instead of screen names to each other. We all built lasting friendships doing that. I remember sitting in the Doctors office with my mom she had just found out she had lung cancer. They were doing a few things and getting ready to start treatments. Oldtiger called and I told him where I was and he asked could he talk to my mom I said sure. They talked and prayed together man things like that you never forget. Tib was about good guy lol he had his opinion and didn’t mind sharing it, but that’s what this site is for. If tib was wrong he would be the first to post a plate of crow and move on. He was the same every time I met him. Even in the WC/WJ rivalry when it was so heated I met several of those guys even tailgated with them. I remember old Sosodude he was a really good guy I believe he moved away. We just don’t have that on this Site anymore. People talk crap most of the time about something they know nothing about. But there’s only a few of us originals here. Heck me and you may have never reconnected if not for this site. Come to find out we were old schoolmates small world. Advice to you younger guys. During all the trash talk try setting up a meeting at the concession stand, the flag pole or wherever. I promise you that it’s worth it you may make some lifelong friends that call and talk with you during some tough times. It really helped me when I lost my mom, my dad and when my wife battled cancer three times and beat it. My friends would call to check on us and talk a little football to escape what we were dealing with for just a few minutes.

Only one we got close by that I can think of is Batesville and I got food poisoning last time I ate there so I wasn’t going back anytime soon anyways. They use to be good back in the day but they fell off big time. Poison me once shame one you, poison me twice well you ain’t getting that chance.

There are fans at every school that say this exact same thing about their school every single year. Nobody, and I mean nobody, knows mize football more than me, and mize has not been the best 2A team in the state ever since they have been in 2A going back to 2005. Nobody was beating Scott central 3 years ago, nobody was beating Charleston 2 years ago and nobody was beating Heidelberg last year. The best teams won the championship every year the last 3 years. Was Mize better than Loyd Star last season? Yes, probably so. But they weren’t better than Loyd Star on that one particular night. That’s the way the game goes, it’s the way it’s always gone ever since the game was invented. But to the average Joe that has absolutely no clue about what’s going on, every loss will always be because of poor coaching. If you don’t believe that just ask enterprisebulldogfan.

This. Anyone that says anything different is not being realistic. Brandon, Hattiesburg, and Starkville are all top teams in the state with a bunch of talent. Houston HS out of Germantown won the TN state title in '23 and was runner up last year. Neville is always a power in Louisiana. Since 2021, they have gone 11-2, 8-3, 8-2, 11-2 and were ranked #6 overall in Louisiana last season. In reality, OG is playing 5 different teams that are capable of being their state champion next year in their respective classes.

The most fun thing about State baseball this season is Jake Mangum finally making it to the Big Leagues. Got the call over the weekend and went 4 for 4 in his second game. Impossible to not like that guy.
