I've went back and forth the last few months on what to do to at least keep the memory of my friend alive on here. If it wasn't for this site I would have never known Patrick along with many more over the years. I have been half catch myself waiting to get word from him on how this or that would play out as the season has gotten ready to be kicked off. Tib, myself and a core of about 20-30 people kept this site from being thrown in the trash heap of failed message boards as the years progressed through the 2000s. He butted heads with some but he was a fair person and could let things go in order to move forward. Not a word from certain people has been put in recognition of him by some that have been on here as long as we were and some that haven't been here as long but have acted like they built this site. Hell oldtiger was pinned to the top and grieved there for I don't remember how many years. I'm not lessening his presence on here either but Tib cast just as big a shadow as that. I will even be more frank I think there is a certain one that still holds a grudge against him because Tib proved him wrong in front of us all and he couldn't take it. When I tried to make the peace and get said "person" to meet him halfway to get Tib back on here they flat out refused. Tib was absent from here for a long time behind that but he finally came back at the behest of several of us and this place was better off for it. Tib always resented that situation and honestly so do I with the way it was handled. It was as wrong then as it is now. This site has gotten less and less traffic in the last fifteen years. We are not a family anymore. I will leave everyone to come up with their own reason for why. I know why and no one will convince me otherwise. I don't know how long this will stay up because of what I said above but I really don't care. He would have said it for me. I feel like I could look over my shoulder right now and he would be nodding his head yes. I miss you on this Friday old friend. I know you would be bugging me this morning about going to stand in the rain with you tonight.

Having seen Wayne County this year I can say two things. 1. The athletes to be successful are there right now. Not including the ones who were run off, quit, or decided not to play the past few years. 2. Facilities are great and easily among the top in 5A, if not the state. This has potential to be a really, really good job. The right coach, will have them competing for state championships year in and year out.

I think as the season wore on I wasn't right about any the finalists in 7,6 or 5A and how it would play out. These new classes have really blurred the lines. In person I thought WC and Laurel matched up with Brookhaven size wise. Tonight they looked much bigger than WP and basically just pushed WP around as the game wore on. Brookhaven coach had them ready. Good job . They left no doubt.

I have a perfect solution. Haha. We can have a PowerPoint system and have a losers bracket champion and have 14 championship games.

The “top tier” (largest classification of schools) will always feature a huge disparity. The schools at the bottom of that heap (currently 7A) will statistically fit better and compete more strongly with the classification under them. But, I don’t know that there is a good solution. MS is not large enough for 7 classifications.

Lebby is in good shape. Emotions just need to settle down some. This mentality of discarding coaches after a single loss or even a win is just mind boggling. And we might see coaches staying put rather than jumping from the frying pan into the fire. If I have a good gig, why I am I going to leave that for FL or LSU where I going to be set up for failure.

I look for OG to come out and play as if they were 2-0. If you cant get fired up about playing your crosstown opponent, then something is for sure wrong. If I dont see a packed visitors side that tells me the fans have already given up on them. Despite 0-2 the main goal is still in front of them.

I guess I never really put a welcome out to Pound . I was too busy dancing over the carcass of Bubba Hathorne whic h I have to admit it's mighty good. Nobody loves WC more than Tracey. There was most certainly those who had better resumes but as far as deserving the chance to be the next head coach it was Pound or Kat who has his eye set on bigger things than HC of football, proud for you Kat . With that said there is a lot of doubt surrounding Lampley but that has always been lurking around him. People telling him couldn't do something fuels him like nothing else. So don't be surprised when he knocks it out of the park. It's his show now and one could say what's going to be different than his last staff positions . Tracey has always been about leadership and being a team player, It will be interesting to see how he approaches being out front now. The one thing I can say about him on that field is when called upon he was always right there and he never, ever missed the mark . He wanted the ball in his hands when it was all on the line. There's no need in going through the results most everyone knows them. So here is where I stand on it. Tracy is my man at WC now. I'm going to roll with him and let the chips fall where they may. There is supposed to be an airing of the grievances this evening at the old converted field house that was turned into a sort of stabbin cabin that Branch and Bubba would hole up in doing god knows what. Carry plenty of hand sanitizer and use it if you touch anything in there. I wish I could make it there . I really wish. You won't get any of this from the local news. I will try to make this concise. Those concerned will speak to the board about their questions . Let's be honest it's about Lampley or Gandy not being given a fair shot and they are right. They are right. That was put in place by Hathorne. The madam asst. supt is just along for the ride. The name she is supposed to turn in is a dam good coach and I wouldn't to make tht decision. Coach with the better resume or two guys that got screwed over last time by Hathorne five years ago. Two guys that have the WC brand burned into them. They have the dam scars and that means something to me. For me making that choice would be agony x1000.I'm hearing someone with some strole got involved after Coach Chapman said no more of these sham interviews and told her who she was going to turn in. Hathorne didnt like it but cowered like usual when he didnt have the upper hand. There is still time I guess to pull a fast one but I doubt it. Back when the state got involved with the whole failing school sham ten years ago more or less almost everyone left ,.Only Bubba and his buddy Branch he called over were left as voices from Wayne County to the state. There were certain people on the board that got friendly with them too but are gone now. Any time Hathorne wants to threaten someone he calls his friends in Jax and they give him backing. What the people in Jackson saw was a school district flush with assets and right then went to work to gain control of them. They pretty much did with the friendly, scared board at that time and the imbecile Branch as their installed puppet. Fast forward to now and this current board is not so friendly to these connections so they are meddling every way they can. They would like nothing more than this coaching search flop to turn over board members in this next election to people more agreeable to their requests. I hope it doesn't happen. They already have rigged the supt. selection process now they want control of school boards statewide . Not because they care about students, they want control of those assets. Under state law now each county handles those assets as they see fit and dont even have to report what they do. So when you get up to speak your mind tonight direct your ire at the right people. That board is the only voice the people of Wayne County have left in their school system and deserve a measure of respect.Demand to know who this supt in waiting and by default Hathorne answer to in Jackson. Demand to know why they lied about this so called selection committee. Demand to know why must everything be a secret now. It hasn't always been that way. Demand to know why last month Hathorne got up there and boasted about all the troublemakers that had been dismissed from the football tean during his time as principal and hasn't been called to the carpet for it. He should be dismissed, no contract, no resignation acceptance , no retirement, no paycheck. See you in court fat man. I am still angry about it. I tried to be concise but rambled on I guess. It’s not about skin color, never has been for me. It’s about getting the best out of those kids wearing those uniforms. There’s people that understand that and then there’s people that make it about this or that. I will give whoever gets the job my support.

This is true but is his application one of the ones that made the cut? We may never know because someone wants to leave his mark. If I’m on this school board I’m rejecting every recommendation that he has a part in. He’s only looking to keep his buddies moving up the ladder. He’s not worried about the community getting involved as a matter of fact he doesn’t want that to happen.

I’m not one to doomcast people into the transfer portal…. But if for some reason Josh Hubbard decides he wants to play for an upper tier team in his last year, look no further than last night for a big reason why. Hubbard scored 31, no other State player was in double figures, and they lost by 9 at home. I’m still someone who thinks pretty highly of Jans, but man what on earth happened with the construction of this team. It’s Hubbard and a bunch of dudes who simply are not very good basketball players.

How do we know the private schools do better than the public schools. What data can we point to to make that claim? I ask private school supporters what accountability model do the private schools use? Most of them don't know what I am talking about. lol I have no problem with private schools, however most of them were/are just segregation academies that just spit baseless rhetoric to justify separating their kids from the public schools. Thats your right as well but you don't get taxpayer money to pay for it. Fund it with your private money. How is that not logical? We don't like welfare in the country unless its welfare that benefits the people that already have the means. Thats backwards. Then they want the money with none of the oversight or policy. BS. I do agree that change needs to happen in public schools. The testing is a real and big issue. They need less oversight as well to allow schools to cater more to their communities and stakeholders. Thats the power of the citizens though. We could get it done but we can't if we just gonna walk away and point fingers. The public school system is the powerhouse of the country. Instead of us wanting to fix it, we want to strip it of all its resources and take it back to our friends and those around us who would benefit. We don't care about the society as a whole. Thats my issue. Come together and force the powers that be to make the schools work for us. But I will never agree to this... never. ITs just more rich people welfare and a guise to benefit those who already have the means.

Right now they do not, but part of House Bill 2 would allow homeschooled students to play with their public school. I get it. These families pay school taxes. I also pay school taxes despite the fact my two kids are grown. I pay taxes on lots of things I don't have access to or need because they support the common good. A family who homeschools or sends their kids to private school have actively decided to not take advantage of a public service that is being offered. That's totally fine. I just don't think they should be given public money because of that choice.

I hate that someone takes offense to all the Wayne County Threads. So please if you respond to this thread please post where you’re from. I have a lot of friends here and have lost a few from here through the years like OldTiger and Tib just imagine what their Christmas was like this morning.

The best team Wesson has played this season is Franklin County. Their opponents have a combined record of 33-64. Everybody Mize has played is still playing in the 2nd round of the playoffs except for Enterprise Clarke. Mize will be the best team Wesson has played all season. That doesn’t mean Wesson still won’t win. But it won’t be a blowout.

It’s obviously a 4 team pick between Warren Central, South Panola, Lake Cormorant and Grenada. Beginning of the season I would’ve said Warren Central and if they play a complete game I’d still go with them but all four are capable. If Grenada wants to return to the state championship game their secondary is going to have to wake up. ETA: I actually forgot about Ridgeland. They’re a team that could cause some problems in the playoffs. This year in the north is surely more competitive than it was last year.

Lafayette has played and beaten two 7A schools this year (Hernando & Lewisburg). I think this move is a bit of an overreaction, but what really doesn't make sense is making it be an all sport issue. Lafayette Baseball went 2-1 against Oxford last year, right?

This. Anyone that says anything different is not being realistic. Brandon, Hattiesburg, and Starkville are all top teams in the state with a bunch of talent. Houston HS out of Germantown won the TN state title in '23 and was runner up last year. Neville is always a power in Louisiana. Since 2021, they have gone 11-2, 8-3, 8-2, 11-2 and were ranked #6 overall in Louisiana last season. In reality, OG is playing 5 different teams that are capable of being their state champion next year in their respective classes.

He is saying that the MHSAA needs to be in control of it. Hattiesburg and Petal have their own youth league, but they play in an association with other teams. Both used to be in the Mississippi Youth Football Association, but both have since left and joined another association that is only south Mississippi teams. Oak Grove plays in more of a travel ball league with teams closer to the coast. But unlike Petal and Hattiesburg, oak grove did not leave the MYFA, they were voted out due to their behavior. Youth football has become a chaotic debacle where grown men only want to live out their fantasies through little kids. It’s all about their own egos. And it’s disgusting to watch.
