Vance forced his son into being the main focus of their offense from the first series and didn’t really try to involve their skill players . His ego envisioned making him MVP and multiple highlight reels. He deserves every bit of the criticism coming his way. He can’t get over the hump because he is not a good coach. He had no answer when Grenada figured them out halfway through the first quarter.. Ever since he came on the scene down here I couldn’t stand him. Hell, nobody outside of there does He’s the perfect Hattiesburg Tiger. this is mst tonight4 points

To build on the Meridian blue turf thread I thought about starting one for all schools. I got the idea from seeing Choctaw County’s new stomping grounds. They did big things this off-season. Very impressive for a 3A school. Feel free to add any changes your school has made this summer.4 points

So I am confused it this thread about Shelton Gandy to Meridian or Petal? May need to rename the post!4 points

Shannon blew a 16-0 halftime lead. A 17 point lead with 5 mins left in the 3rd. Was outscored 14-0 in 4Q. Failed to convert on 4th down late in 4Q that would’ve sealed the game. Let West Lauderdale march down the field 92 yards in 1:20 and failed to defend a 45 yard Hail Mary as time expired. Prob need to look at someone else at fault instead of the refs.3 points

West Point vs. Louisville was a dawg fight between 2 physical defenses. Refs got a little too involved late in the game against both teams but definitely was worth the price of admission3 points

Quote of the night was from the Canton announcer. “With GCS lately you don’t know if you’re going to get a college team or a junior high team.”3 points

I agree. The biased side of me wishes it was at USM every year. Hands down the best atmosphere and best city to host from an accommodation standpoint.3 points

I have never had an interview in which players were part of the hiring process, and I would withdraw from consideration were it ever to occur.3 points

Coach Fair has changed the entire culture of our community not just the program. One of the best men and coaches the sport has to offer. He has won championships at Grenada, Lafayette, Pillow Academy and multiple at South Panola with Ricky Woods. A lot of people don’t realize this either but Ricky Woods is our Offensive Coordinator.2 points

I’m just glad it’s on display for everyone to see like we in the pine belt have for years. Discipline wins titles not smoke and mirrors.2 points

If he thought his team to be more disciplined he wouldn’t have to complain at the officials so much.2 points

Nobody’s disappeared. I stand by everything I said. OG was the more talented team as they are every year but youth is youth and it ultimately bit them as it did at times throughout the season.2 points

Understandable since both of those are practically the steel curtain of high school defenses. I can see why you are optimistic2 points

If I can get technical, the defense has given up 72pts so far. 14pts have come off 2 scoop and scores when the Hattiesburg offense was on the field2 points

Laurel fans should be. Otherwise they are a 2-3 win team that assuming they made playoffs as a 4 seed they get knocked out in the first round at picayune. And I could have enjoyed their meltdown that much sooner. And, unlike now where they still think they can win 5A south while sitting at 1-7, they would fully understand that they in fact suck.2 points

Enterprise locks in the 3 seed. Excellent gameplan and execution by the coaching staff and team. Just didn't have quite enough in the tank to get it done. Final 25-21 Kemper2 points

In my opinion, there's no doubt we should only have 6 classifications. The only reason I think this was down was because it gives the almighty MHSAA more $$ from gate receipts. Ordinarily I wouldn't mind that if the MHSAA was using that money for let's say "policy enforcement" instead of salaries in their office. Not a fan of them as you can tell2 points

the better question would be, which quarter does Noxubee lead by 35 and the running clock begin.2 points

I can go along with that. And coaches do shoulder some blame. But as a retired coach it drives me crazy when some fans like to run the guys down the road who spend the hours some coaches spend with their teams. Especially when they are proven winners and have multiple state championships amongst them. I promise you they are attempting to correct mistakes. If they aren’t then yeah I get it2 points

Vott, the two games that you mentioned for this year are rivalry games. It probably comes with the territory. For the most part and for 98% of games the postgame handshake is a good thing. Sportsmanship goes a long ways. Once the game is over, it’s over. It’s ok to be disappointed when you lose and it’s ok to be happy when you win, but when those emotions carry over into something that becomes volatile, then those emotions aren’t held in check and it becomes an issue at that point. The big rivalry games where there’s no love lost between the two programs are probably the ones where the postgame handshake needs to be between the two head coaches. The last thing you want is some type of brawl where it can be prevented in the first place.2 points

This same broadcasting crew said “Ole Miss has it easy they don’t play Alabama, Georgia or LSU.” Then puts up a screen with the schedule showing Georgia and LSU but doesn’t correct themselves. At this point I’d rather play on Lifetime than CW.2 points

Every game at USM every time it’s been there has had better attendance than the same classification games the times it’s been played at ole Miss or MSU. Higher percentage of the states population less than 1 and a half hours from Hattiesburg therefore easier access to the games for more casual fans. Plus, just being honest, outside of like 5 schools north of I-20 most of the southern teams have better attendance.2 points

Hey Winston, dont let this clown bait you into getting into a useless keyboard war with him. He is the biggest troll on here and at one time I took the bait. I dont even acknowledge him on here anymore. I see his posts but will not respond directly to him at all. Its just not worth it.2 points

I completely understand the loyalty point, but it’s not a loyalty issue with most young coaches. It’s the desire to move up and the willingness to do what you have to do to get to the ultimate goal(head coach). If you don’t make your goals happen, they will remain simply goals and nothing else. Plus the old time loyalty stuff doesn’t matter to employers anymore. They will have you replaced before your funeral.2 points

I still haven’t seen any hard evidence of your claim. Maybe you’re the one who doesn’t know how IP stuff works2 points

Ole Miss surpasses their win total from last year. OAN Flanigan is an example of why I don’t listen to fanbases that lost a player. Auburn fans called him every name possible and said he wasn’t worth anything. All he’s done is average 16/7/3. I’ll take that production any day of the week.2 points
