State handled South Carolina in a game they had to have. SC is awful.

The Mizzou game on Saturday is really interesting. They’re a good team that State still has to play twice, feels like you need to get at least a split there. Should be a good atmosphere at The Hump.

That may be an understatement, ha.

I'm not taking anything away from MSU's win, SC is just really really bad. SC and OM will be battling to not finish dead last in the SEC and OM holds the head to head tiebreaker.

I'm interested to see how MSU builds on these 2 wins in a row, I'm starting to lean they work themselves into an NIT bid.

USC is really bad but they did beat UK in Lexington and they just lost to Georgia in OT. So I was not taking this game for granted. I am glad to see us come out and play well tonight. It was a must win and now we seem to have some momentum.

A huge game against Missouri upcoming (although as it stands now, every game for State is important) and the Hump should be rocking Saturday afternoon. And Missouri has a good solid team. For State, we just have to take one game at a time, forget about the last game and don’t worry about the future.

Another tough loss for Ole Miss tonight.

Ole Miss was already bad, I can't imagine losing Ruffin will hurt much at this point in THIS season. He's definitely a player the next coach needs to try to retain though.

OM played hard without Murrell and Ruffin.  I wasn’t expecting it to be that close.

Does Calipari have in his contract he’s allowed to stand three feet on the court.   I the refs never tell him to back up and he looks like the Door Dash guy wondering around on the court.

That South Carolina team beating Kentucky is one of the more WTF results in recent memory. SC made several miracle three’s last night and finished with 8 made three’s, held State only 3-12 from three, turned State over 16 times, and still lost by 15 at home.

Looks like Ruffin has decided to hang em up for the remainder of the season on Kermit.  Insider says Kermit's foul mouth is too much for Ruffin to deal with.

Ruffin had become a shell of his former self in almost every phase of his game for what I can only guess are a variety of reasons. IMO he's not as good now as a sophomore in college as he was his senior year in high school. He's got to get back on track, get his explosiveness back, etc. especially at 5-9. Hopefully he does all that and hopefully the next coach is able to help with that and keep everybody else worth keeping.

He has had a hard time staying healthy.   I’m sure it’s taken a toll mentally as much as physically.

No doubt. IF these two teams met again Saturday, the smart bet is on Kentucky to win. SC beating KY was a fluke.

Kentucky is 5-1 since that game including a win over #5 UT with the one loss being against #8 Kansas.

SC is 0-6 since that game... including home losses to A&M, MSU, and Ole Miss. The only ranked team during this 6 game losing streak was Auburn.

Oh I agree that USC is bad but as we know (WTF) games happen from time and I was glad State took care of business Tuesday night.

For Ole Miss , I sure do hate Ruffin stepped away from basketball. Even though he plays for our rival, he is a fun player to watch. Hopefully, whatever struggles he has been experiencing will be alleviated in due time and he can return next year.

only thing that might help him is for Kermit to be gone. Kermit sees the writing on the wall and quit babying Ruffin and Ruffin pouted and this is the result we have. At this point I'm not sure ruffin would stay even if a new coach is hired.

Looking at State’s last nine games, I stand by my point that there’s still a path to the NCAAT. They need to stack some wins, but the schedule is doable and they are currently around 50 in the NET with three Q1 wins and no bad losses.

I think you have to beat teams like LSU and SC at home, and probably need to beat Ole Miss and Vandy on the road. Then among the other five games (Mizzou x 2, Arkansas, Kentucky, A&M), you need 2 or 3 wins.

If you’re 8-10 or 9-9 in conference play, you absolutely have a chance going into the SECT, and could clinch a spot with a win or two there.

Long way to go, but I’m intrigued at least.

SOS is definitely a plus but we cannot have any bad losses period. Easier said than done.
First game starts Saturday against a really good Missouri team. A win would be big for several reasons. Gotta protect the home court, keep the momentum going, will push us up the NET a little bit more.

MSU picks up their 3rd win in a row, this time over a respectable Missouri team.

MSU hosts LSU next, that definitely should be a win for MSU giving them 4 in a row.

MSU is definitely improving as the season progresses. As mentioned, the schedule is set up nicely for MSU to finish well.

On the flipside... LSU/OM/USC all lost again today and are tied at 1-9 in SEC play. These 3 have games left with each other to try to battle out of dead last. I'm leaning it's SC that finishes last, but I don't exactly have much faith in OM or LSU either. Out of the three, LSU is the surprise to me. I sure wasn't picking LSU to compete for the SEC title, but I sure wasn't picking them to compete for dead last either. 1-10 for all three looks likely after the midweek games.

LSU had an insane amount of roster turnover, I think they literally brought back one or two scholarship players that were on their team last year.

But yes, there seems to be a clear bottom three so far.

LSU has an extremely athletic team.  They look like they would be much better than they are. lol.

Smith has been very difficult to stop for State lately.  When he shoots FTs well, he can add up points quickly.

State Women beat UT and the SEC referees 91-90 in double OT. What game!!! Much needed!!!

Listening to Coach Purcell after the game, he said he just turned our guards loose and let them play. We were much faster than UT and it was evident that they could not guard us out front.

Still a long way to go but this team has the potential to be a NCAA tournament team.

Tennessee made 24 field goals and 37 free throws.  Wth.
