Dang, dude ain't even gotten out the door and the Greyhound faithful already acting sour.

That has nothing to do with him leaving. That's straight truth. Ross was just as bad if not worse. You have a 2nd team All-State LB and region MVP with a high GPA and ACT score in the class of 24 and the kid doesn't even have a JUCO offer. Ask the parents of any player that has gone to the next level while Pennock was there how much he did for them recruiting.

It’s no secret Pennock has had one foot out the door since he arrived in OS.  Coupled with his aloofness, there’s a faction of the community not exactly crying in their beers.

Damn, double post.

True but everyone thought he would stay until he found a job around Jackson again. He has applied for all of the jobs up there in 6A every year.

Not sure if you know how recruiting works, but JUCO offers do not come in until senior season. Also, how do you know that Pennock has applied for all of the 6a jobs in the Jackson area?

You are correct they do. But I also know from my own families recruitment that they can and will reach out much earlier.

All is somewhat a reach. He applied for Brandon when it was available and another that I can’t remember. I’d have to go back into my old texts. That was two years ago or so.

Definitely didn't apply for Brandon or any other Jackson area school. His family is actually from the coast (Moss Point area) and only has Jackson ties from his wife's parents. If Ocean Springs would have even tried to keep him then he would still be the Head Coach. Gulfport sought him out for this job.

Same here. Finally deciding to throw my two cents in. Need to see if I can get Will Smith Sr’s thoughts on this situation.

I was told there are some players talking about moving out if the coordinators go. Not sure how true. Seems hard to believe they would just up and leave but it would speak to the impact the coaches had on them.

He is a Terry High graduate to the best of my knowledge. His mother is a Moss Point alumni though. So he does have some coast ties.

Someone in the administration needs to offer Bramlett the job today. I know someone posted earlier that both coordinators we're going, but the kids already have ties there. Might keep the kids at home

I agree but Gulfport picked the perfect time. AD has been more worried about recruiting visits and moving than anything past November.

Jake would probably do a great job. I have heard nothing but glowing things about him and Coach Zach Green from the kids that I have spoke with on the team. I just do not believe they would want someone without prior HFC experience. They need to move on an AD fast and then get on the Head Coach immediately after.
