Apparently people have asked and they already said no changes to playoffs. In all the boys’ sports Region 8 gets every team in to the playoffs. It’s an absolute joke.

I don't see any way that 4 doesn't have 7 again. No one down here wants that travel for all their sports. West Harrison and Harrison Central are the same distance for pretty much everyone, while d'Iberville is the most centrally located and equal for everyone except St. Martin.

Some of that housing is in the new area. A lot of it hasn't finished yet plus they would all have to be 8th-11th grade which is a stretch. To top if off based on the last cycle and last years numbers, they are not in the middle they were one of the bottom 5.

It would benefit them in the long run too, Football is on the rise, but every other sport they have struggled to compete. About to have a new AD so it would be a fresh start.

Guess we will see. When they redrew the line they lost 75ish students to Vancleave. That came from an admin at one of the schools.

From what I heard over the weekend EC expects to be back down to 4A and Vancleave is expected to move up to 6A possibly joined by St. Martin. The redrawing of the county district lines is affecting all of their numbers.

I know Jackson county has one over each school. Not sure bout Harrison county.

Long Beach is on their own also. The kicker down here will always be the money/casino divide. The cities get a larger portion than the county schools according to how many are in their district. Long Beach has none so they don't receive any of that money. Jackson county has the same divide with Chevron/Ingalls. Pascagoula/Gautier gets all of that money. It will be hard to explain rolling 4A and 5A schools into districts that are already made up 6A/7A schools as cost savings. School Boards will have to expand and the Supt spot for that district would likely just become an asst under the new organization with the main Supt likely getting a pay raise. OS already has some of the highest paid Admins in the state while being on the lower end of teacher and supplement pay. Not to mention the highest cartags in the state funding the district while they constantly cry of being broke.

All the coastal counties are setup the same way. The larger city schools OS, Biloxi, Gulfport, Pascagoula/Gautier, etc are their own districts while everything else falls to one county district. East Central, Vancleave, and St. Martin under JCSD. WH, HC, and d'iberville under Harrison County.

They just redrew those districts due to the new housing developments. It would either be St Martin or Vancleave.

OS had about 40 go to homeschool. Lost close to 200 total from last year district wide. Looks like they would have been at 455 off last years numbers. That alone goes to show how much movement there is likely to be.

I will say remember on some of the borderline schools that there will be movement with the private schools taking up spots. i.e. St Pats likely ending up in 5A and opening slots and shifting numbers down.

I know in OS there are 170 students that moved either out of state, private school, or to another district in the state. They track all of it.

Found it. Looks like Murrah will drop a long way. Last team in 6A or the top of 5A depending on how many more they lost.

I’ll have to go back and look. I couldn’t find that link. Based on last years 7th-10th numbers it looks like Greenville may be the last 7A school. That was the only change I saw there with Meridian and Murrah going down.

Who do you have at the bottom of 7A? The Jackson schools make my head spin trying to figure out what MS feeds what HS

Doubtful, their new rule for allowing the 7/5 split will keep 7 on the coast I'm sure.

I'd love to see another go with them, because having 7 in the Region is an absolute nightmare for scheduling.

We will be stuck with 7 again in Region 4 and likely either HC, West harrison, or Hancock be sent to Region 3

The posts I have seen so far have cited disrespect during national anthem, moment of silence for 9/11, band performance, and spraying baby oil all over.

The issues with this team run deep. (see my comments on the Meridian post) There's a chance that they don't get a win until West Harrison or HC

Unfortunately I think it's gonna be awhile before they get a tally in the W column. I'm sitting at the under right now on a 4 win season.

Several picked them to miss the playoffs as it was. The ones who picked them higher and ranked them where they did preseason was primarily due to history.

There were several takeaways that I saw and heard from the OS side of things: Lack of leadership and accountability- small senior class and the juniors that were expected to step up folded rather quickly. (This is going to be a theme in most of the boys sports this year as they are all lacking in senior leadership) They were absolutely whipped at the line on both sides of the ball. The players that were essentially anointed by the staff as their key players need a serious gut check and lack some intestinal fortitude that will be needed. Several tapped out and gave up before the game was over. Unfortunately two of the main ones will never leave the field since they are administrators kids. It's been growing worse every year and the first game showed it that there's a sense of me over team. It especially showed when you celebrate a TD like you won the state championship while getting beat pretty handily and then throw a temper tantrum when said TD gets called back. This will be a long year for Greyhound Football.

That's funny since last year it wasn't announced until 8-18-25 and the new announcement was on the 17th of this year. No one really expects anything different at this point when dealing with the good old boy system of MHSAA.
