Haven't heard the grumblings other than from the staff being changed.

It's a tale of two approaches this year though. The Senate is filing all individual bills and the House filed one large bill. I would not be surprised if the house bill leaves the Senate floor with a one time no penalty transfer in their version. It basically says everything else stays but they get one free transfer.

BE IT ENACTED BY THE LEGISLATURE OF THE STATE OF MISSISSIPPI: SECTION 1. Every student-athlete in this state, whether in public secondary school or any school that is a member of the Mississippi High School Activities Association (MHSAA), shall be allowed one (1) transfer to another school or school district during his or her length of eligibility without loss of eligibility or any other penalty for such transfer. The eligibility upon transfer provided for herein shall not preclude enforcement of any other participation rules or requirements. SECTION 2. This act shall take effect and be in force from and after July 1, 2026.

Can't remember where I read it but homeschool got significantly less than in person supposedly.

If it passes some parts would go into effect July 1, 2026, such as the Tebow section. Looks like only the MSA portion waits until 27-28 school year.

They sent 5 bills last year to disband it. There will be more again this year.

Was Biloxi filled?

That's likely the first of many though. Plus by the time it bounces back and forth between the two sides, there's no telling what will be changed. The group that introduced disbanding MHSAA will be reintroducing those bills as well.

They can have kids living outside attend, they just have to follow the transfer rules, or start there in 9th grade so it will be their "home" school.

Yup. They have the head guy, then an assistant director, and then an athletics coordinator.

All depends on the district. There's no rhyme or reason to it. Some 7A schools have dedicated ADs, some don't. I am fairly certain that all of the Rankin County schools are setup with a head coach as the AD also.

Those jobs are always tricky since they have to have the advanced certification to be the AD also. A lot of assistant coaches won't have that.

Especially when you consider he was the AD in addition to being the HC

From my understanding every incident was outside of the stadium whether at the gate or away from it after the games.

It's already been discussed by many and stated by many that they hold no power outside of the field. Everything else falls on the school district. The school district is ultimately responsible for anything happening on their grounds. Enforce the rules and policies already in place and tailgating shouldn't be an issue. Now if they are tailgating off school property then the only option you basically have is to enforce not letting them on campus or in the gate if you believe they aren't suitable to be there. If they attempted to enforce something off campus, it could be the straw that breaks the camel's back on the fight against the private organization running high school athletics.

They are on their own regardless for lawsuits. Every part of that falls on each district. The only thing that falls under them is what happens on the field. Everything else is on the school district. They aren't cutting into their kingdom for anything or anyone.

Interesting that the private organization that oversees athletics is able to tell school districts how to police and enforce their district policies and laws based on the advice of their attorneys. The same organization that selectively enforces it's own policies, procedures, and rules as they feel fit with zero oversight. The entire situation is horrible, but pushing all the districts to remove tailgating is absurd.

They were pretty well drummed by d'iberville, and they play Gulfport while OS is on a bye to start getting healthy. The Biloxi game they will definitely be a favorite based on the games I have watched of both of them so far. OS has been playing linebackers on the defensive line for the last two weeks due to injuries. Solo puts up another 230 yard performance in back to back weeks. I look for him to continue his trend as of late. Both OS and Gulfport have played well on the road over the past few years, I don't feel like it's an advantage for West Harrison.

We will see where they end up after these next 3 games. They have a tough stretch to finish up.

Gulfport. Issues with spring practices last time...

One of those teams has already been in trouble over the past 2 years for violating practice rules... Not surprised to see them here at all.

The law they are attempting to pass would change it. They would no longer be required to move. They would get one free transfer as long as they are accepted to the new school district.

If the legislature gets the votes, it’ll be a moot point. Everyone will get one move in HS with no penalty.

We aren't going anywhere. 2nd-3rd largest district in the state and they are building houses like there's no tomorrow. Just want to get back to 6 in Region ASAP because scheduling 7 teams in limited games is a nightmare right now.
