It’s only at Brandon if Oak Grove wins. If OS wins they would host. It’s the higher Region number this year. The defense is much better than the first time they played. It will all depend on if the offense comes out sharp and not flat like they did the first half against NWR.

It's already tough for the 7A schools to find quality opponents. Very few teams below 6A are willing to play them now. I don't see it getting any better, at least not for football. The other sports it's not as big of an issue outside of game restrictions and adding additional Region games.
-
I was sent a photo yesterday from a coach that showed this exactly with Purvis and South Jones rounding out the Region.

This will become a nightmare for scheduling. Football will have an additional Region game and either have to give up a bye or in the case of the top end teams, one of their big money draw games. Baseball already plays more Region games than 3 does, because they play everyone 3 times for 15 Region games out of their 28 (which needs to be increased on a sidenote). Basketball will become a mess of redoing the Region tourney for 7 teams instead of 6. There should be some way to break the tie and send one down to keep it as was originally pitched.

Georgia is also discussing the possibility of numbers no longer determining classification and shifting to basing it on sports success starting in 2026.

They aren't but there are some other hoops he would have to jump through before that happens, especially after the Social Media posts and such. Most believe that he's headed to HC. Apparently he was being given extremely bad info by the coaches at his new school. He was reported to the state, just not by OS personnel. The rest of the south part of 7A took care of it.

Ocean Springs Greyhounds new head football coach.
Greyhoundtransplant replied to David's topic in Football
He had the blessing of the staff to go. He doesn't really fit in with the offense that is being run. He's a pocket guy that can sling it. In the right situation, he will be a really good HS QB, plus his dad is from over there. -
I hate that I missed out on this discussion and just saw it. Just as a heads up, said player was told last Monday that he is not eligible to play at Gulfport. The OS administration did not have anything to do with it. Apparently almost every other 7A school on the south side lodged a complaint with the state. His options are extremely limited now. Before some of y'all jump all over me, it's one thing working in the gray areas getting kids to come in to a program. It happens all over the state. Blatantly trying to openly violate the rules is a completely different aspect. I can list several kids on the coast that have lived in one city that play at a different school all over including at OS.

Interviews will wrap up this week. Sounds like the current OC will be the last to interview. Causey has interviewed and supposedly Columbia’s HC will interview before the end of the week. The committee will meet and make a recommendation sometime before the board meeting on the 14th.

Depends on the district. It’s also a way to up the pay from my understanding. St Martin for example the baseball coach is the asst AD.

David i think part of the problem is that the head football coach at Ocean Springs is not a teaching position. It is an administrator. They also serve as the assistant athletic director. From what I was told yesterday the requirements include a minimum of one year head coaching experience and a degree in administration.

For starters the head football coach at Ocean Springs is not a teaching position. It is an administrator. They also serve as the assistant athletic director. From what I was told yesterday the requirements include a minimum of one year head coaching experience and a degree in administration.

Pro Football. Not Pro Athletics. There’s a huge difference.

Officially announced. Both Coordinators and Offensive Line coach are also going. Still waiting on confirmation on Lampley(Wr) and any other assistants.
-
I wouldn’t be too surprised at an Alabama coach. Apparently there are several of their ADs interested in doing the same thing so some connections could help.
-
It’s going to be a long drawn out process unfortunately. Have to get someone filling in or doing the AD job first.
-
I know that he interviewed for two of those jobs per members of his staff when he did. That’s another thing that Gulfport will quickly learn about him only believe about 1% of what comes out of his mouth.
-
That may be tough. The Superintendent is on a lame duck contract also so that job has to be filled. The person that the current AD wants to follow him is unavailable until after basketball season.
-
I agree but Gulfport picked the perfect time. AD has been more worried about recruiting visits and moving than anything past November.
-
They both came here with him and are leaving with him. They’ve already notified their respective schools. Last day is Friday.
-
Same here. Finally deciding to throw my two cents in. Need to see if I can get Will Smith Sr’s thoughts on this situation.
-
You are correct they do. But I also know from my own families recruitment that they can and will reach out much earlier. All is somewhat a reach. He applied for Brandon when it was available and another that I can’t remember. I’d have to go back into my old texts. That was two years ago or so.
