Merlin 🧙‍♂️ speaketh the truth even if this might be hard to believe.

Not hard to believe. At Meridian you have great athletes and don’t have to worry about a 6A to your west and another to your East constantly trying to recruit your kids. Heck in that area the good athletes usually move into Meridian from the county schools. Yes, things have changed but the right man could still turn it around. I do think the wrong hire will cause wildcat football to move past the point of return.

Wildcat football may be past the tipping point but I have some hope because I know Cheyenne is an excellent AD and he is doing a good job.

This hire is extremely important. We need to get the kids that should be playing back out on the field. And hopefully he can rebuild the Community support for the team as well.
The football program at Meridian has always been a shining star until the last four-five years.
It can happen again but the odds are more against it now than ever. We will see how this develops in time.

It's actually more the other way around now.  You are starting to see more kids from the city show up at the Lauderdale County schools and Lamar.  MPS problems go way past hiring a football coach.  I'm not sure if anyone can rescue it now.

@MeridianMomma64how many years do your boys have left in the program, and how are they feeling about a new hire hopefully coming soon?

Dr. Cheyenne Trussell  might be one of the best athletic directors the state has to offer. This is a home run hire for sure. They probably gave up a piece of land for this hire but it is worth it.

Woah Woah Woah... Im excited for yall but lets not take it that far.

@MeridianMomma64how are your boys feeling about this hire?

Well whatever deal they made with Coach Boyles was obviously good enough for both sides and today is a great day for Meridian Football.  They are now relevant again and they should be.

If this is true, then it is great news. I figured he was going to not come back to coaching and retire or stay retired for good.

The program definitely needs a shot in the arm and I think he would be up to the task. Count me as excited!!!

There ain't no if about it.  Congrats on your new coach!  You definitely have every right to be excited about this.
