His handler has him searching for more $$$. He settled fine at Nebraska. Was their lead back. Money play. Plain and simple. Too many of these kids have folks in their corner giving bad advice. I guess as long as he is on track for a degree, it is not a problem.

On track for a degree. That's the thing I can't figure. Most universities only accept 60 transfer hours. There's no way any of these guys transferring multiple times are on track for degrees. People need to call it what it is, minor league football.

Don't think it can. A federal judge ruled it was illegal. Said athletes should be able to transfer schools as often as want just like regular students. Tell me how many "regular" students changes schools every year.

What I find crazy is the ruling the judge ruled against allowed transfers to go 1 time and wherever and not sit out, but a second transfer as an undergrad you would have to sit out. That to me, is fair.

Bag dropped. De'Zhaun Stribling has committed to Ole Miss. Huge get and I’m starting to feel better at WR. You know you got a good one when the fans of the team their guy left compliments him instead of talking trash about him.

I thought OM was loaded at WR last year too, but they had one injured star, another one with one big game and one just collecting a paycheck.  Maybe Simmons will spread it around a little more.

What I don’t get is you can’t contact a player unless he is in the portal, but several players are getting in the portal because they have an offer from other schools.

Yes you legally correct, but there is nothing stopping anyone from contacting their agents ( dad/uncle). Eventually if they want to graduate, most schools require your last 30 hours be done with them.

It's somewhat odd to see how many on here don't like transferring without sitting out a year.

It was pretty championed on this site when Tom Mars took on the battle to let players transfer without sitting out.

I don’t think anyone envisioned 4 schools in four years or 7-8 years of eligibility. Lol.

Personally I’m all for freedom to roam around the country, but there definitely needs to be  contracts signed from day one.  And since tuition was never really a benefit for college athletes, let them lay their own way unless they get an academic scholarship. ***

Very few envisioned 4 schools in four years, but it sure opened the door... and here we are.

I tend to agree with contracts, but that leads to CFB being the "NFL Farm League" with a player's union. I'm not saying that's a good or bad thing, but that's where we are headed.

There has never been much enforcement of the rules, unless you were the little guy that got caught, but now the NCAA's hands are tied with all the court rulings so there is absolutely no enforcement. And probably only going to get worse.

That's exactly what it is becoming. I'll give Kiffin credit, he had a plan from the get go. And I think his time in the NFL laid the ground work. He goes to the portal (free agency) to fill his immediate needs at positions then uses HS recruiting as the draft to build his team. If recruits don't work out they are encouraged to enter the portal and he replaces the with a portal (free agent).

My question with this approach, is it sustainable? You look at the NFL teams that rely heavily on free agency and they usually only have 2 or 3 good seasons before crashing. Those teams that build in the draft sustain success for a longer period of time. Look at the playoff teams this year. How many relied heavily on the portal? I think almost every team did it with the majority of the players they recruited and signed. Maybe a portal guy in a few spots. I'm not bashing OM but how many portal guys did they have?  Or let me say 1st year portal guys, I don't really consider Dart a portal guy, he transferred after his FR. year and stayed 3 years.

A player’s union would be a good thing IMO

Apparently a judge temporarily ruled that Diego Pavia is eligible next year based on the rationale that JUCO years do not count toward eligibility.

If that’s the case…. Pandora’s Box is wiiiiiiiide open now.

His argument, I think, was he wasn’t able to capitalize on NIL when he was in JUCO and counting those years didn’t allow him to earn for 4 years like the other players. Lol
