West Point sat on the ball and played conservative 2nd half. They could have put up another 3-4 scores. Hats off to Gautier. Heck of a season for them. Reality hits next year. 4-6A is a lot different than 4-5A

Perhaps they could’ve. Gautier shot themselves in the foot early in the game not scoring from within 10 yards twice and also two early turnovers. When a team like WP gives you opportunities you have to capitalize on all of them.

No doubt. They had their chances early on. West Point made things extremely difficult for Irving at times. He played as well as he could have given the situation. He kept them in it.

Congrats to West Point and Rob Morgan. It’s hard to come in behind someone like Chris Chambless and follow up with a championship. Heck look at Kalen Deboer and Alabama and the way they have fallen off.
For West Point, the more things change the more they stay the same. West Point will continue their dominance into the future with Morgan, Welch and company at the helm.

With last night being the first time getting to see Gautier, I was impressed with #12 Sebastian Gonzalez. Did he sign with anyone? Runs good routes, has good hands, strong runner and has some decent speed as well.

He has been impressive all year. I was told this was his first year playing varsity football. He has been a baseball player for his high school career.

Rob is the OC at Warren Central; Brett is WP's coach

I even thought to myself last night, I bet he’s a pitcher or one of their best players on the baseball team. He just gives off that athlete vibe.

Are you saying hburg fans don't attend games??? If so,  hburg usually travel and pack out D.I. Patrick stadium all the time. Honestly, 20k might be short changing but I personally know people from Texas and Florida that made it in earlier today.

I hope they do have a great crowd.

I just know their regular season games don’t pack out their own stadium - which is significantly smaller than “the rock” and the number of fans they have who travel to away games is typically pitiful. They don’t even fill a small visitor’s side when the game is less than an hour away.

So hearing that they were touting 20k fans was odd. I mean - good luck to them & all. They SHOULD have a large crowd when they’re playing less than 5 miles from their own home field.

edit to add: I’ve had family members recently who were on the field playing for opposing schools when playing HHS. Both home and away. So this is from my own personal experience. I’ve been to their stadium and I’ve seen how they travel with my own eyes

Well that was our first blowout of the championship games. Charleston defense played hard for a half, but Heidelberg ran off with it late. Charleston had one long touchdown pass, but if you take away that one play they may not have had 100 yards total offense. Heidelberg had close to 400 yards.

Heidelberg had 4 seniors on the team last year. 2 started.  They had like 6 juniors starting.  They also had 4-5 9th graders starting.  And finished as runners up to Charleston by 3 in last years champ game.  They returned 20 starters off that team.  They will bring back 17-18 off this team  next year.
