I want better competition to watch and potentially travel to than PRC as a Pascagoula fan. Oh I agree. I just know the last time GC was 6a they were in that awful map of region 3-6a. Talk about mentally and physically exhausting for kids to travel three hours one way for basically every away game while also playing in the toughest division as the smallest school. You wanna talk about being in a bad region, and it's just where they located but Natchez does a lot of traveling in region 3 5a. 3 trips to jones County one to wayne co and then to Hattiesburg. That's at least 3 long trips sometimes 4 in one season. That crossed my my on the ride back to hattiesburg from Natchez last night.

Basically staying along and west of 55 for region play.

Where you gonna put Laurel? There is already 6 schools that will make up region 4 so you can't put them in the coast region

ccbulldog
there should be a clause allowing "tweaking" for location & competition purposes. Maybe move a traditionally non-competitive team down a class especially if the location to other teams makes sense. With 7 classes this would become easier to do and more impactful as well. MSSportsGuy
In my frequent rants against the 7 classes, I brought up the fact a bigger problem than the "gap" to me is how rigid the association has been about a team playing up or down to improve travel conditions, or even creating an uneven number of teams in a division. There will always be geographic outliers that force one team or school to make multiple long trips when the enrollment difference could be miniscule either way. Some states allow for a move but from what I've gathered the association here doesn't approve it. Like all things they have their reasons but to me it's another thing that could be done to "increase excitement" the director seems to think was lacking in their desire for 7 classes.

coastfootballfanman
I was told numbers are due by next Wednesday. Some schools are already turning in reporting numbers as well.

Schools have to include what sports they will be playing and as to whether they will be independent in St Patrick, and St Andrew's. I wonder 3A will be 38 or 40 school ls. Will 2A and 1A loose schools based on independence in football.

I believe Raleigh based on being at the bottom last time coupled with loosing 4 students in the last 12 months. Tha number could be better if 10-15 students moved in. Rebel Bert
This about as secretive of a reclassification as we have ever had. No Twitter, no Facebook no info at all given out.

Rebel Bert
Will the independent football schools play region play in 2023?
Prince of Darkness
39 minutes ago, Rebel Bert said: Will the independent football schools play region play in 2023? The MHSAA passed a rule after the last reclassification that basically states, unless you are starting a brand new sport, if one sport goes independent, all sports must go independent. St Andrew's, St Patrick, and Sacred Heart are playing all sports this year except football. Maybe it starts with 2023-24 school year. Chunky6617
So will those schools start back playing football next year? Sacred heart was a district game for us in basketball and baseball.
