The dates of 2022-2023 are not listed. Perhaps later maybe I may search the bottom 5 top 5 between what was presented earlier in the year. Hopefully by then the numbers will be out. I've beat the dead horse of not being a fan of the 7 classes and won't again, but I will say I think the only thing this really accomplishes is making the association more money with extra playoffs and championship series. They are so close to each other. I wouldn't be surprised if Lewisburg went up and Terry went down with the way the DeSoto schools have grown over the past several years. MSSportsGuy Posted September 14, 2022 Share Posted September 14, 2022 This is somewhat off the subject but I think the days of major "growth" in Desoto schools is over. They won't get smaller but people are not moving there in droves any longer. The board probably overshot expectations when they built 4 additional high schools. Central is pretty large, but the others haven't really picked up that much since they opened. Private school enrollment is increasing there, just like it is most places as people look to get more sports opportunities, smaller class sizes, and protect their kids from real or perceived evils of public school. In the current cycle, there are 33 schools in 5A because Laurel and Vancleave turned in the same count and they tied for smallest 5A school. So in a case that two schools have same enrollment number at a dividing line, they would both be included in that class. So those numbers on that site are skewed anyway. I guess they just list the numbers under one roof. They have West Jones and South Jones listed in the top 24. Best way to speculate on classification is to check out those schools 8th grade numbers last year and subtract their senior numbers from last year.
