Been around since the 80s. If St Andrew's has 200 students for reclassification their official number is 300.
-
According to one popular Facebook page the 1.5 multiplier will be enforced on the upcoming 2027-29 Reclassification period coming this fall for private schools playing in MHSAA.
-
Forest posted their schedule with open date October 9. Coach Hig at Raleigh contacted 3 other coaches and was turned down. The schools i am aware of October 9th are Forest, Columbia, Raleigh, Hazlehurst, St Patrick, and Mt Olive.

Mississippi St is taking advantage of every possible opportunity to recruit players they need. They see this as an advantage to get ahead. Only time will tell if it works. And yes they need all the help they can. They are also trying to get their graduates as high school coaches especially central Ms.
-
I read somewhere last year they are going after it every year. If so its looking for players or diamonds in the rough so to speak for recruiting. And yes they do need help in certain areas possibly in coaching.

Tylertown, coach will remain as AD and track coach.
-
That's why their numbers were down in October of 2025. They can soon be 1A.

They played Weir

AHSFHS web site for each school Artesia Bulldogs 1932-1952

If you look a school on say Maben or Weir on AHSAA you will be able to see their all-time opponents.

Scott Academy became Scott Central White Oak(Smith County) played football in the 40s. Rankin Academyat Star now part of McLaurin

I think JDC will settle into mediocrity for a few years. Dangerous with the head coach but not scary. It may be that they have mostly Prentiss talent and less Bassfield talent. They have definitely fallen off.
-
Pelahatchie 24-0, so much for the stalemate. Probably should have been 30 plus to 0.
-
Both will probably struggle based on the results. It is the 2nd year for the coach. That's probably pretty good for Pelahatchie. 6-4, 2-2 is not out of the realm of opportunity. They should be excited with the 4 small schools in Rankin County getting artificial turf this fall.
-
Stalemate between Pelahatchie and NE Jones backups.
-
Rumored but you have Kosciusko separate from Attala County Schools. I don’t see it happening other than the superintendent offices combining to save money.
-
Ongoing discussions between the two in regards to transfers, recruiting, and umpires/refs for games. Director said voting on proposals for who refs or umpires the games will be coming up soon. I think it will have to pass at district levels and then in Clinton.
-
I am pretty sure 200% their not. We don't know what the future holds.

6 classes or Combine MHSAA and MAIS in some kind of 7 or 8 class structure. Long shot but a thought.

Marion and Lamar Amite and Wilkinson

50 would be a good number.

Wayne County would not be involved in my thinking of consolidating counties. Those in South Mississippi that might be on my list are Perry, Jeff Davis, Lawrence, Claiborne, and Jefferson. The others would be in the the Delta, along the Tennessee line north of Oxford and in between Oxford and Starkville.

Boyles is probably setting up for a 2nd retirement. He is 60 ish or will be 60 between now and September 1. He and my oldest sister graduated together at Raleigh. He wasn't planning on coming back last time.

Mississippi has a problem of too many counties compared to Alabama. 82 VS 67 i believe we need to eliminate appx 15 counties. You can never eliminate the amount of students and roads to repair. What you can do is save on Superintendent's and county supervisor pay among a few other positions. That will help a whole lot. Yes it will take a few years for kids to adjust to a new school. You might even be able to close a few more schools pending which counties are consolidated such as consolidating Lawrence and Jeff Davis or Jeff Davis and Covington as an example. We might get Bassfield back on the books.

Agree, 5 or 6 classes are a plenty.
