I disagree about Duke. I think they are beatable.
Now I have no idea about Baylor-State. Teams are equal.

But if State happens to win that game, I actually like our chances against Duke. Why? Just because it seems that this team might finally play its best game of the season. That has not been done yet.

yea Duke are beatable you have to be disciplined sounds to beat Duke and have to outcoached Duke to

Duke is beatable but not by this State team based off everything I’ve seen this year. State went 0-5 against the Top 4 in the SEC with an average margin of defeat of like 18 points. Duke is on par with the best in the SEC.

I just am not seeing this particular group winning a de facto road game against a team that’s in the Top 5 of both offense and defense, analytically speaking.

That said, I kinda lean toward Baylor beats State anyway. Don’t love the matchup. Worried it becomes another shoot out that State can’t make enough shots to win. Baylor is not very good on defense but a Top 20 offense.

They were 19-14 so record wise very similar.

For State, if we don’t hit at least 35% from three and 75% from the FT line, we can forget even having a chance to win.
But they are obviously flawed as well losing 14 games. Looking at their roster they seem somewhat similar to us.
Let’s roll the dice and see what happens.

Baylor is a talented team that seems to have underachieved (sound familiar?). They were preseason Top 10 and never lived up to the hype. Did enough to make the tourney so they are obviously still decent. Very athletic, several different guys that can score. Not a ton of size and not very good defensively.

Comparison-wise, I think they are very similar to teams like Oklahoma/Arkansas/Texas.

Elated we will be getting UNC over SDSU. I’ll always take a tournament game, but playing the big name makes it that much better. Just need to play well and get the win.

Gotta say from a neutral observer’s perspective, I think almost everyone will agree that it’s a more interesting game with UNC in it. Will probably be a more entertaining game, too. SDSU is very defense heavy and bad offensively, and, well, that’s why they got destroyed tonight.

Based on season play State has to keep Baylor under 80 to have a chance.

Georgia wasn't mentally prepare and was overmatched and didn't have no confident in themselves beating Gonzaga yesterday and Mike White didn't make no in game adjustments and Georgia was playing like a inexperienced team haven't been to the NCAA Tournament before they looked lost and no energy

State loses to Baylor by 3. It was the exact way they’ve lost a lot of games recently.

A lot of criticism will go toward the finals seconds with Hubbard not taking the last shot, maybe deservedly so. I don’t know if that was a play call or what exactly happened there. But this roster was simply not constructed well enough to improve on last season. Could not shoot or defend well enough to be more than what they were. Many of these guys are out of eligibility now and we will see who returns and who comes in the portal next year. And we will see if Jans is for sure returning or if he heads elsewhere.

State was day late and a dollar short for the most part this season. Close but no cigar on a number of games and then just completely blown out in a handful of games.

It was not a bad season as we did win 21 games but after the Non-Conference games it felt this team was going to perform better in conference play than it did.
Three straight trips to the Tournament but certainly disappointing that we did not go any further.

I guess I am out of the loop. So where is Jans going and why would he be leaving?

I don’t think he leaves but he has been mentioned as a candidate for some jobs this offseason. Iowa being the one that has the most chatter (he is from there). He’s got a pretty dang good contract at State though so anyone hiring him away wouldn’t be cheap.

He is rumored to have shown some interest in the SMU and Arkansas jobs last year.

Ole Miss beats UNC. Survive and advance. Built a big lead, almost choked it away, held on at the end anyway.

Ole Miss vs Iowa State in the second round on Sunday. Should be a good game. Both teams at their best can hang with anybody.

True... just as true as both teams could easily lose to anyone in the tourney.

Guess you call it an upset but it shows the strength of the SEC. Arkansas struggled early but have played pretty well down the stretch. Not that much of a surprise IMHO. St. John’s was good but they played a relatively weak schedule.
Iron sharpens Iron. Arkansas was battle tested.

A&M eliminated by Michigan today.

Congrats to the State women for beating Cal today. Their reward is the 1 seed Southern Cal on Monday. Gotta say this season is very much a success for Purcell. I think this was viewed as somewhat of a rebuilding year and it’s probably his best team since he’s been here.

Apparently State’s women have won their last 12 NCAAT openers? That’s impressive as heck. Believe that goes back to the Sharon Fanning era.
