If there's any keys for Hattiesburg in this one it's don't fall behind, win the coin toss, get the ball to start the game, control TOP, and don't turn the ball over. Also getting some defensive stops and avoiding a shootout with Oak Grove will help too. I think if Hattiesburg finds themselves in a shootout with Oak Grove, they won't have the advantage. A couple of bad snaps was what made that happen. But they were probably still in the negative if the bad snaps did not happen. Didnt expect to hold petal to 90yds either. But this HHS defense is the fastest I have seen in a while. The front 4 on the DLine are physical and the linebackers and Dbacks are flying to the ball. maroontide06 Posted September 9, 2024 Share Posted September 9, 2024 @VottI know this isn't a good measuring stick, but Hattiesburg this year should be more talented than Ocean Springs and you see how well Ocean Springs played against Oak Grove. Hattiesburg definitely has a chance to get a win at Oak Grove, but Hattiesburg cannot have a let down defensively and Hattiesburg needs some success against Oak Grove's defense. Him and Picayune’s Amarion Tyson were my two favorite guys to watch on defense last year.@Dubactionhas there been any word on how he’s going to be used? Hattiesburg played horrible mental football last Friday. I have said it since the end of last year when all their fans started talking that they will win state. They lost 3-4 on both sides of the ball and it was the most important pieces on both sides. They are not as good as last year. That offense is garbage. The o line is big but weak and slow. The qb isn’t all that accurate, not that it matters he gets no time to throw. I just don't think Hattiesburg would have the ability to knot things up and overtake the lead. Not saying it won't be a good game because it should be, but it's imperative for Hattiesburg to start fast and not trail if they want a shot at this one. But meridian, stone county, east central, vancleave and Wayne county may all be tossup games. If somehow laurel missed the playoffs there will be riots in the streets. And I’m not a drinker , but I would totally crack open a cold beer and grab a lawn chair to watch it if it happened. I know how I would want to use em based on what I’ve seen so far but I’m no coach. He definitely adds versatility. Those Ds are pretty good IMO. We didn’t have our best offense execution last game and really OS had us on the ropes and could have won the game.
