Figured it was a matter of time with Mais schools moving to regional public school divisions. Driving to Jackson every other week to get your teeth kicked in gets old quick. Especially with Jackson private schools buying up all the talent. Creates a lot more parity. Good for them

No it's every sport driving to Jackson. It may be Volleyball on Monday at Hartfield, Softball on Tuesday at Prep, Friday at St Joe in football. To be fair if 5 sports were being played during the week then alternative weeks 3 home 2 road and 2 home 3 road bi weekly would be fair. Now welcome to MHSAA where the longest trips might be to Noxubee County in the playoffs.

regular season (neutral field)

[2024] Jackson Prep (Jackson, MS) 35 (84%), [2024] Noxubee County (Macon, MS) 20 (16%)

It won't take long for MHSAA to "level the playing field" so that any private school is penalized for being a private school.  They already ran off a handful of Catholic schools that had been competing in the public school associations before there was a MHSAA.

It's foolish for any MAIS school to apply for membership in MHSAA.  They'll be discriminated against because of "perceived" advantages while the public schools recruit just as much if not more.

No they all have a 20 mile radius to recruit. Those 3 Catholic Schools were not allowed to fully recruit the 20 mile radius by going to Louisiana and Arkansas across the river to recruit.

Is there more ridiculous region travel than Clinton to Tupelo and visa versa? They should swap Tupelo and Oxford. Not like Oxford is a short trip either but it's better than Tupelo.

So with PCS moving in (more than likely) as a 3A school, who's going to get bumped down to 2A?

Wingfield has to be replaced in 4A. Currently, Mooreville will move up. That all depends on the numbers that are being reported. If OLA is still there then it's 41 schools in 3A. Wingfield closed and PCS takes Mooreville's spot in 3A.

Have you heard what numbers all the Smith County schools turned in? I think Mize was 185. Haven’t heard anything from Tville or Raleigh.

I have heard 220 something range for Raleigh. Not sure if low 220s or high 220s. And that could make a major difference.

Low 20s will be 2A

High 20s will be borderline

Maybe they want to stay 2A

Perhaps those 88 in last years 8th grade dropped to like 75 or so. Last years 8 -11 was 242, US News and World Report had 236. I think it should have been like:

9th 88

10th 80

11th 68.
