I'm predicting that the new Leflore Co.-Greenwood-Elzy high school will be called LeFlore Central or something like that.
-
I'll make the change.

I found out that the Southaven football is ineligible for the 7A playoffs due to two instances of fighting. https://desotocountynews.com/desoto-county-sports/friday-sports-eagles-edge-jaguars-for-home-playoff-berth/

I knew it had to be an ineligible player to get River Oaks kicked out the playoffs. There would be no other explanation for them to forefit their entire season.
-
Looks like the docs answered my question of the first round playoffs.
-
Why yes, yes they need to. What in your opinion would be the best route for the MAIS?

What about Christ Covenant?

When do you think the MS DoE would update the numbers for 2024-25 on their site?
-
Do you think the MHSAA will take action?

Clinton will pretty much remain as 7A for the foreseeable future. As for Jim Hill and Forest Hill (per the US News report) has 712 and 753 students in grades 9-11 respectively (of course that was only based on 2022-23 data. ) But I am willing to bet that Jim Hill got the better end of the Wingfield closure and they would probably see a boost to around 900 students (thereby putting it on the cusp of 7A?)

A few of the private schools in Mississippi (they are Desoto Christian in Olive Branch, Starkville Christian, Grace Christian in Louisville, Russell Christian in Meridian, and Victory Christian in Columbus) aren't in the MAIS. I wonder why is that and it does tie in to football since two of them (Russell Christian and Victory Christian) do play the 8-man game and thus would be perfect for the MAIS 8-man league.
-
If that is the case, (and keep in mind, I do not know what the future holds for those four schools, but then again, the AISA [the Alabama Independent School Association] did lose 4 of its members to the AHSAA [Alabama High School Athletic Association]: Glenwood, Lee-Scott, Pickens Academy and Autauga Academy with the former two in the 3A classification and the latter two in the 1A classification), then utilizing the MHSAA's enrollment numbers based on 9th thru 11th grades, Prep would be a 4A school and Hartfield, JA and MRA would be in 3A.
-
So with PCS moving in (more than likely) as a 3A school, who's going to get bumped down to 2A?
-
With Presbyterian Christian leaving for the MHSAA starting in the 2025-26 school year, I forsee two possibilities with the MAIS classification numbers. A) Keep the same structure as is (maybe using Oak Forest to replace PCS in MAIS 6A in all sports) or B) maybe converting everything to 5 classifications instead of 6. Maybe something that would go like this non-football sports MAIS 5A (top 8 schools) MAIS 4A (next 24 schools) MAIS 3A (next 24 schools) MAIS 2A (top 1/2 of remaining schools) MAIS 1A (bottom 1/2 of remaining schools) (of course, it would be combined for volleyball and soccer because not enough schools sponsor said sports) football MAIS 5A (top 8 schools) MAIS 4A (top 1/2 of remaining 11-man schools) MAIS 3A (bottom 1/2 of remaining 11-man schools) MAIS 2A (top 1/2 of 8-man schools) MAIS 1A (bottom 1/2 of 8-man schools)

Are you gonna do predictions for 5A-7A North regions as well?
-
I too have noticed that in my school district.

https://www.capitalsportsms.com/capital_sports/mais-master-football-schedule/article_2cb53fe6-457b-11ef-83b9-4701bf72467e.html The complete schedule of (currently) all 50 11-man and all 29 8-man MAIS Football teams participating for 2024 across all 6 classifications. The only teams I do not see are as follows: Delta Streets, Columbus Christian (though I read briefly on a Vicksburg Post article that they are dropping to 8-man from 11-man and are currently looking for teams), Sylva Bay, and Sharkey Issaquena (which we know that they won't field a team this year because of not enough players).
