  1. Last I heard he was at Columbia, don't know what capacity or if he is still there or not.
  2. Thought they were going with Pogue.
  3. Shorter from Louisville, Fair from Grenada, and the coach at West Point (his name slips my mind) have been offered the job and they all have turned it down. Not sure on Mitchell at Choctaw County.
  4. Maybe the cramp sniper shot them with a scatter gun all at the same time.
  5. It may have to do with school accreditation for academics. Not for sure. Russell used to be in the MAIS and played in the 8 man league with around 50 players on the team.
  6. Kinda like Sharper said - do like it use to be - the Super 8, Big 4 and Little 4, where they play the other 7 during the season; Split them for playoffs with a state champ for the Big 4 and the Little 4. Then they can divide the other school into three equal divisions.
  7. Guess all the MAIS schools backed out on their threats to leave the MAIS for the MHSAA other than PCS. Kinda what most folks figured, full of hot air. Good luck to PCS as the numbers fall where they may.
  8. Rumor has the MAIS schools as Adams County, Bayou, Columbus Heritage, Copiah, Simpson and Starkville. PCS has already started the process of leaving and joining the MHSAA. There has been no total confirmation of this rumor that I know of. The Louisiana schools have been talking about going to the LHSAA, not the MHSAA.
  9. Heard that there were 5-6 5A MAIS schools in the process of trying to join the MHSAA. Can't remember all of them and don't want to post just a partial list. Anyone else hearing this?
  10. I have not heard exactly what Simpson decided to do. Right now they are 0-2 and have not scored a point. I know their quarterback is hurt but it looks as if they need to stay put.
  11. When the MAIS counts numbers they use 8th-11th current year numbers. The past few years they only counted boys for football. This year they are going back to total, boys and girls, enrollment numbers. I do not know what grades were used to get these numbers, 346, for PCS. A few years ago, their total enrollment numbers were a little better than 300 so I would believe that the 346 is a total enrollment number for 8th-11th.
  12. Heard this morning that they are getting away from the pool play junk. They now are talking about doing 10-12 in 6A, 10-12 in 5A, and then splitting the others equally in 4A and 3A for eleven man teams. Heck, who knows with the ones running the show.
  13. Super 20. The first round of the playoffs will be like travel ball pool play, which I am not familiar with at all. After the first round, some of the teams will then drop a class for the rest of the playoffs. Not sure how this works. I believe there are 52 schools that play 11 man, may be wrong on the exact number. Don't know how they will split the other 32 teams, most likely 16 and 16. Also heard there were two teams thinking about going independent, PCS and Simpson, and one team in Louisiana considering joining the Louisiana athletic association, not sure which team but Oak Forest may be the one. I have not heard of a final decision on these three.
