25k won't hold all the jsu fans for a swac game

Then those fans should donate money to build a stadium.

The state will not 100% fund a stadium like jsu wants it to do and have it be the size jsu wants.  JSU should temper their expectations.

Don't preach at me about supporting MY kids Buster... When they were in school, I didn't miss a darn thing, ever.

Booster club president, Show choir president,..etc. I still support the school though they are long gone.

And it's not all about me anyway. I can watch it on TV, but there are a lot of people in the pine belt that

didn't go because it was 4-5 hours away, that would have otherwise.

So you're whining about it on someone else's behalf... cool story. Anyway. They can drive and support their team or they can stay home. Simple as that. My point remains. It's one game a year and no one is entitled to have a state championship close to them for their convenience. Some teams have region games over 3 hours away in every sport. I don't see threads from Clinton fans crying that they have to go to Tupelo for half a dozen or more games every single year. Maybe instead of complaining that the entire rest of the state should do better, maybe you should be complaining that those fan bases who didn't travel should do better.

We’re not playing our state championship games at high school stadiums fellas. It’s not happening lol

I understand what you are saying but what separates Meridian from all other high school stadiums and Miss. College as well is it has large equal 7500 seats on each side. So both teams competing get the same size stands. Plus it has field turf and Meridian is centrally located and has a large number of hotel rooms too.

No disrespect CC because I love our classics at the Ray but we as a state get way too caught up in what’s convenient for ourselves vs what the kids deserve. Hundreds of kids just played at the Vaught man… they will never get that chance again to play in an SEC level stadium. We have to remember the privilege and experience that comes along with playing in a state title game and THATS why I’m against playing at high school stadiums.

Yes, playing for a gold ball state title should be an experience they never forgot, totally agree. SEC stadium certainly checks

that box. But maintaining that grass field was a lost cause given the weather we had. Several of our 7 games had players

slipping down constantly, maybe they needed different cleats, but they are small high schools that don't have/bring/afford

those. You know it's bad when the game announcers are going overboard complementing how much sand the grounds crew

has dumped on the field. Hey, but sand is cheap an quite abundant right. If you are playing 7 games in 3 days in December

if should be in a stadium with a turf field.

While I can smell the sarcasm here I can appreciate the post regardless. Thank you.

Not a drop of sarcasm. I thought that my guys could play your’s close when the season began, but O.G. kept improving and by the end were the class of the state. I’m just hoping that we can keep improving and see you in the playoffs next year. Sincere congratulations.

Agreed. How many kids if asked "would you rather play the state championship at _____ high school or at OM or MSU" would say at a high  school? Yes it may be tough for some fans, but like all things if it's important enough you will find a way. And, most do.

If it's wet kids are going to slip on field turf. Obviously the field conditions weren't perfect but I thought it held up pretty well. Even with the rain it was in much better condition for the last game than the last time they played it in Jackson, and they had no rain.

Saturday was better, Friday games not so good. It's hard even for a very good grounds crew, to maintain a wet field when they

get an hour or so break between games. This is breakdown of the other state championships in the deep south (included Texas

anyway...) Alabama does a rotation like we do, Tuscaloosa Auburn Birmingham. We were the only 2 states on grass this year.

Louisiana     Caesars Superdome         Turf

Texas            AT&T                                    Turf

Arkansas      War Memorial                     Turf

Tennessee    Finley                                   Turf

Georgia         Mercedes Benz                   Turf

Florida           Bragg Memorial                 Turf

Alabama        Bryant Denney                    Grass

Mississippi    Vaught Hemingway          Grass
