I love how petal and Hattiesburg and west jones and im sure even more of these larger schools are getting away with recruiting. I just don’t understand why these schools coaches don’t feel they have the ability to coach up their own players.

I guess a coach like Boyles at Petal is not going to try to get a kid with 30 D-1 offers and just try to win with the players he has; or any coach is not going to see an outstanding  player at a smaller school and not try to get them with the argument that you'll get more attention from college  recruiters you can play against better competition we have better facilities/more resources; coaching cant make up for talent its only logical for a coach to try to get more talented players.

Dont blame the players/parents. Blame the MHSAA for not doing anything about it. As far as coaching up their own players, i am sure they can coach up their own players. But when that stud player/players moves in, you're definitely not gonna make him ride the bench.

Who is recruiting? A kid transferred on his own. Maybe your school should just be more appealing!!

There's a paywall with the link attached, but Petal has been down this road before with Poplarville.  Lest ye forget.

I will say this, every WINNING program in the higher classifications across the state is recruiting. Whether it be directly or indirectly from outside sources, they are recruiting. Name a 6A-7A school that won a state championship the last 5 years, that had EVERY single starter there from k-12.

And this is the Petal way folks.  Old habits die hard.  You don't need to recruit to win, you just need a winning culture.  I personally cannot name a single starter from our '21 & '22 squads that was "Recruited".  Picayune wins the old fashioned way and that's something I'm proud of.

The schools that are consistently recruiting are petal, oak grove, Hattiesburg, west jones, and Tupelo. Sure some others schools get away with recruiting from time to time, but those schools do it consistently.

Don’t forget Laurel.  They have more kids they pulled from west jones alone the last 5 years (not counting some from south or northeast jones) than west jones had transfer in (recruited or otherwise) in the last 15 years.

Stone has more overall wins, Region wins, and playoff wins than Petal over the last five seasons.

Instead of throwing shade maybe try something positive

Petal would’ve smoked stone county the last five years and you know it

Irrelevant.  Mid 7A vs Mid 5A.

This kind of recent Facebook-like negativity, general nastiness,  and ugly language will not become a staple here.

Also and OAN, for the initiated,  multi-accounting will get all of your accounts banned.

This when I get irritated about this. Because cmon man.

A kid definitely did not transfer on his own. He is not old enough to make those type of grown up decisions. Now if you wanna say he influenced his parents to let him transfer and they all moved to another school, I would believe you. But he for sure didnt do it on his own.

Petal got a 10th grader that was 4th or 5th on the depth chart and was told he would be better at another position in this time in moment. Obviously that didnt sit well with him and he transfered... which is funny because he's in the same situation at petal.

Exactly...cause he not starting over Belton

McDaniel was at OG last year. This is not new for 2025

Honest question for all of you: Do any of you really and truly get angry if a team that you play in your region or maybe in the playoffs every year gets players to move in every year? Or could it be a little bit of jealousy that those move ins are not wanting to come to your school?

The frustration is with the rules not being followed & equally enforced among all schools/students.

As long as the same rules apply to everyone & everyone is held to the same standard, we can’t fault anyone.

😆 🤣

Main issue with this is kids switching in and out of public/private due to “scholarship” offers. That’s not okay. But MHSAA doesn’t police it or enforce it and MAIS schools have the $$ to buy people off. When feeble attempts have been made in the past to deem certain players ineligible due to infractions, $$ suddenly appears and all the problems suddenly go away. THAT is the issue. Saw it with Hartfield a few years back. Everyone has a price.

I’m told the Roberts kid was declared ineligible and won’t play for Petal this season.

Was this going to be his senior yr? And if he tries going back to south jones, one would he be eligible and two would he be welcomed back?

These schools that recruit these kids and ruin there seasons need to face some kind of punishment. Petal and west jones both now have a kids season in limbo.

Or maybe the kid should just stay put and not let him or his parents get influenced to leave
