Will it be announced tomorrow? You don’t think the assistants would stay if another candidate was hired? Will some of them come to Gulfport? I assume Bramlett Will go after another head job if he doesn’t land this one?

I’ve been assured that all assistants are under contract and would be retained, even if an outside guy brought in a couple of his favorites. Because defensive coach Green did go to Gulfport, a new hire might bring in his defensive coordinator. If Bramlette is promoted, he has qualified assistants to fill that position, and would need an offensive position coach, even if he keeps play calling duties for himself. As I’ve said all along, hiring Bramlette keeps continuity on the staff and with the kids, from the weight and nutrition program that he was in charge of, to the jr hi feeder system that has been improved. So, yes, the board has probably received the recommendation and may well announce their choice at the regular scheduled meeting tomorrow evening. Seems like a long time coming, but that’s just me.

To answer your last question, I personally believe that Bramlette would have tossed his hat into the searches for openings here on the Coast and statewide if he wasn’t confident about getting a shot in O.S.  He will be hired by a smart school if not by O.S.

Seems like this was always gonna be the case if they do indeed hire Bramlett and he may do really well there. I guess they just had to do some courtesy interviews.

Well I can tell you all this much, Jeff Stockstill can coach. I watched him this year in the State Championship game and they completely dominated Charleston. Their 2 losses over the last 2 years where to 2-A State Champion Bay Springs  and 4A State Runner ups Mendenhall who they beat both of last year. I don't know Bramlett and I hope he does a good job but one of the Jackson Schools will wise up and hire Stockstill soon and he will have them going!

Don't think JPS has any financial lure

Glad Causey wised up. We would run Ocean Springs in the ground next season. There’s a difference between having a great team and having a great program.

Love this post! I’ve been listening to y’all talk trash for years, and for good reason, but you’ve got another nine months to live with that whupping you got last fall, and I’m the one who’s a fan of the best team now. I would have loved to have stolen Causey away, but he’s got a good thing going, and I can’t believe he was ever serious in the first place. Probably just tweaking those hard core OG fans after losing to “that Coast school”. I do wish that we could have hooked up for a regular season game. We’ve got a lot to learn from a well run program. But for now, you’ve gotta stop with the talk. It’s still our year!

Not sure I’ve ever gotten over on Dub on here. Probably jinxed myself and my team for the next decade.

I tend to agree with your sentiment here.  If they were going to hire from within, why the heck do you bring Jeff Stockstill in for an interview?  Why would Ocean Springs want to tease themselves like that?  If I was a Greyhound fan, I would be lobbying real hard for Stockstill.

Charleston played Cov 0 vs Scott Central and stayed in it all night continually getting beat.  Not to take anything away from Stockstill but anyone could've won the last 2 years at Scott Central.  Winning with superior athletes doesn't make you a great coach.

Well Charelston has great athletes and their coach continued to make bad decisions. Why would you stay in cover 0 with the best QB in 2A who signed with a juco and one of the Best Wr. out of the state a USM signee. So you just proved my point! A great coach takes great athletes and wins games. The ones that matters and he has done that the last 2 years. They may have not still won the game but Charleston would not have gotten blown out like they did if they got out of that coverage and gave the DB some help. And they way Stockstill lined up and attacked the man coverage all night proves my point even more. He took his great athletes and took advantage of what Charleston gave him!

Not just anyone can go 28-2 and win 2 state titles, Scott Central lost in the 3rd round the year before with most of the same kids and arguably more talent than what they had the year they went 15-0. I've seen plenty of guys screw up good situations loaded with talent. Look at Holmes County Central every year, look at Ridgeland and Vicksburg this year, Brandon and Starkville both have seen years that they are loaded and not won it I can point to every team on the Coast that has been loaded and blown it. Why didn't Oxford make the playoffs with all of that talent they had? Bad take man.

You sure about this? I’m hearing something different this morning.

I heard it was between Bramlett and DuBose and that community and school pressure to hire Bramlett was through the roof and they expected them to hire him. That was what I was told over the weekend. Of course in situations like this, most everybody "knows" something. LOL.

That's what I've heard, as well (offered).

The money might not have been right for Dubose to come over. I’ve always been skeptical of these retired guys coming in and coaching part time. Not saying that’s the case, but a young man who is hungry is sometimes a better fit. Again, lots of good options no matter how the decision goes.

If they do not hire Dubose they are crazy. He has won everywhere he has been. I would trust a proven winnerthat has been to the top of the mountain multiple times before I take a chance on an up and coming guy. Especially with zero head coaching experience. Not knocking Bramlett, I do think he is a great coach. Head Coaching responsibilities and the day to day grind is a different beast than just being the OC. Many great assistants have failed as head coaches and thrived as just coordinators. I just wouldn’t want to take that chance.

Indeed.

You hire DuBose.  He's won 3 state titles in the highest classifications of Alabama.  End of story.
