  1. I thing the new coach at Leake Central is looking to shake up the schedule he inherited despite being a 4A, independent, or future 5A.
  2. Leake County 2026 schedule which should all be open dates if closing: Leake Central @West Lowndes Lake Velma Jackson posted as open @Newton *Nanih Waiya @*Ethel @*McAdams *Sebastapol @*Noxapater
  3. Leake Central 2026 schedule as 4A @ Leake County no open date posted Wayne County Kosciusko Morton @ Velma Jackson posted open by VJ @ *Choctaw Central posted open by CC @Scott Central @*West Lauderdale *Newton County *NE Lauderdale * 4A Region opponents Weird that Choctaw Central would be looking unless they jumped the gun or chose to change to week 1 or week 5 which is against normal MHSAA region scheduling.
  4. They open with Leake County is believe so that is open unless its filled with Holmes Central which is looking for an opponent week 4 that was scheduled between the 2.
  5. They will move up in 2027 definitely. 2026 is the unknown issue other than certain schools on their schedule have open datesas of last week.Only Leake Central coach seems to know what MHSAA decided last week.
  6. The plan was presented to MHSAA last week. I have heard the Jr high and high school at Leake County will move and become part of Leake Central. They will be 5A by 2027 for sure. As to 2026 that is up to MHSAA. We will probably know more today.
  7. Low performers are not likely to move their kids from the public school. If they did I don't see driving the kids to a private school. They will most likely be the drop outs and homeschoolers that get caught never homeschooling in the first place.
  8. It will be interesting to see if we go back to 6 classes like Alabama but we don't have the private schools for 2 classes making 8 classes total with 5 days of championship games.
  9. I think i will wait till after tomorrow's pod cast to see what's in the works Then I will relook at all potential or rumored consolidations to reclassification 7 thru 1 or 4 regions in 1A, etc.
  10. 6A school and when does it go into affect.
  11. That will bring us to 41 and 31 football schools in 1A.
  12. I was thinking they have 2 different districts in Attala County. But if all 3 then all 3 that will be Attala County and Kosciusko City merging. That makes sence.
  13. With Leake County merging the high schools we will eventually have to change the makeup of division of classes. This drops us to 43 schools in 1A and 33 football schools. The new make up will be: 7A 24 Recommend is 16/20 6A Next 24 5A Next 24 4A 40 3A 40 2 non-football (New Site/OLA) 2A 40 1A 47/51 10 non-football Otherwise 1A will be left with 43 and only 33 football. Obviously we will loose the following in near time as Leflore County is also building a new school for 4A Greenwood, 3A Amanda Elzy, and 1A Leflore County. Then we drop to 42 and 32. Rumor is Attala County may consolidate and we drop to 41 and 31. Now we are down below 4 Regions x 8 schools.
  14. Normally the principal makes the recommendation. In this case it should be the assistant principal and maybe the chairman of the committee or both. Now if you wait til July 2st and a new principal is in place then he or she can recommend.
  15. Consolidate 8 to 15 counties in to others. DROP from 82 down to 70ish will help too. Alabama has like 67.
  16. I agree that 4 regions was enough even if we send 6 to 8 per region to the playoffs.
  17. How many 1A/2A schools do we need to lose due to consolidation in order to return to 6 classes? Its going look weird having 40 schools in 1A and 27 football schools as an example divided into 8 regions with 2 or 3 school regions especially in NE Mississippi.
  18. Will Hathorne step aside and let assistant principal and teachers interview potential coaches or will he medal in it is the million dollar question right now.
  19. If politics gets in the middle of hiring a coach then your not going get top notch coaches to come to any school.
  20. So Leake Central will be 5A and most likely play in Region 2. Thus either Provine or Vicksburg to Region 3. Then Sumrall drops to 4A.
  21. Yes the plan was presented to MHSAA yesterday. As to whether they will play 4A in 2026 and then reclassify to 5A in 2027 or play independent. All of Leake County opponents will be looking for an opponent or have an open date in 2026.
  22. MHSAA executive director says it may go to a vote of the people. If it passes either way public funding of private schools will be in full force.
  23. 1 Reclassification will remain at 2 year intervals. 2 Leake County is consolidating beginning this fall. 3 No on joining Alabama and Louisiana Reclassification Cycle. 4 Executive board discussion will be known on Monday.
  24. Majority of the board is up north to some degree.
  25. Too much baggage in the bill that should be separated. No public school funds to private schools or home schools that have not been vetted.
