Boyles was the coach at Pearl in 97 or 98 or around that time during the school shooting. Hall left north Ms to Wayne County and hired Marcus as assistant coach beginning in the next fall.Boyles was also asst principal. Pearl that played like 3 games in 10 days because it was October and region games had to be played. I think they played like a Thursday, Tuesday and a Friday to make it up. He took them to South state i believe. Stressful time.

He did say let's see if we can get there. I think he referring to yes the AD and probably the principal will present it to the school board. They will take it under advisement or get bids. In mean time smaller schools and districts will struggle to pay for it. Then the police or teachers will have to stand there to strip search you. And then comes Billy Bob with his fire arms permit and that school policy will have to be looked at. More confusion!

The executive committee has established by a vote of 11-0 a set rules and eligibility for student athletes transferring from public to public schools. Those rules will be announced when the legislature passes such law.
-
The executive council voted 11-0 to add metal detectors at entrance to all sporting events going forward. 1 No guns 2 automobile keys ? 3 Metal water bottles ? 3 Folding chairs ? Etc.

Executive Council has passed going forward 7A/6A/5A Regions can have no more than 7 schools per region and no fewer than 5 schools per region. This will be at discretion of the Executive Director for Reclassification. Me personally this probably will help schools like Oxford and Tupelo where Region 1 7A will be 7 schools and Region 2 will be 5 schools.
-
I totally understand that situation. And the only solution is to put them in a region where 4 out 6 will have to travel farther for 1A Badketball Region games or have the county with 3 or 4 1A schools to consolidate.

My updated and adjusted numbers for 2027 that includes Leake Central(5A), Leflore Central(6A), North Tippah(3A) looks like: 7A 24 schools 6A 24 schools 5A 24 schools 4A 40 schools 3A 40 schools 38 football schools 2A 40 schools 1A 42 schools 32 football schools with 6 team regions in north Ms to accommodate 2 non football schools per region and 2 regions in the south with a non football region. There are currently 9 non football schools in NE Mississippi. The 100 dollar question is what do you do when 1A gets low enough that you end up with 4 regions of 3 football and 2 non football schools in each region. Those non football need to play football or else but that's my opinion. You certainly can't drop to 2 and 2. You can't drop much further without dropping 7A, 6A, and 5A to 20 schools or dropping 4A, 3A, and 2A, down to 32 schools each. Especially if your going to stay at 7 classes. I won't be surprised if they 8 classes at like 32 or 24 each. It will be a long Friday drive from the coast to Mendenhall or Bay Springs, etc for a region game with 7 region opponents.
-
Yes with all 7 classes being 32 and extras dropping to 1A. Changes will happen to 1A after losing 10 schools or so either way. My guess is 4 football schools per region with the 10 non football schools added to make it work or go back to 4 regions in football. I don't see going back to 6 classes.

Basketball, baseball, and softball would be 4 teams x 8 regions

Update: 2027-29 Leake Central will be in Region 2 5A replacing Sumrall. Choctaw Central to Region 3 replacing Leake Central. West Lauderdale to Region 4 replacing Choctaw Central. Mendenhall to Region 5 replacing West Lauderdale. Lawrence County to Region 6 replacing Mendenhall. Sumrall drops to 4A replacing Lawrence County in Region 7.
-
I have been told there will be 7 schools in Region 2 5A. That leaves 4 schools in Region 5 4A. Then all schools affected will scramble to fill open dates.
-
Leake Central and Leake County consolidation has been confirmed. They will play in Region 2 5A this fall. The current Leake County coach will be there head coach and build his staff. As to the bottom 5A school dropping to 4A no one has said.
-
Or 7A drops to 16 schools by 2 Regions of 8. The trickle down occurs and 8 2A schools drop to 1A.
-
The first question has been answered. Leake Central and Leake County are consolidating this summer. The Leake County coach will be the head coach. They will play in Region 2 5A in 2026.
-
I thing the new coach at Leake Central is looking to shake up the schedule he inherited despite being a 4A, independent, or future 5A.

Leake County 2026 schedule which should all be open dates if closing: Leake Central @West Lowndes Lake Velma Jackson posted as open @Newton *Nanih Waiya @*Ethel @*McAdams *Sebastapol @*Noxapater

Leake Central 2026 schedule as 4A @ Leake County no open date posted Wayne County Kosciusko Morton @ Velma Jackson posted open by VJ @ *Choctaw Central posted open by CC @Scott Central @*West Lauderdale *Newton County *NE Lauderdale * 4A Region opponents Weird that Choctaw Central would be looking unless they jumped the gun or chose to change to week 1 or week 5 which is against normal MHSAA region scheduling.
-
They open with Leake County is believe so that is open unless its filled with Holmes Central which is looking for an opponent week 4 that was scheduled between the 2.
-
They will move up in 2027 definitely. 2026 is the unknown issue other than certain schools on their schedule have open datesas of last week.Only Leake Central coach seems to know what MHSAA decided last week.
-
The plan was presented to MHSAA last week. I have heard the Jr high and high school at Leake County will move and become part of Leake Central. They will be 5A by 2027 for sure. As to 2026 that is up to MHSAA. We will probably know more today.
