MDE meetings: October 15th, November 4th.
-
They had a very small class like 38. For some reason either Ai or US World News has it at 198 which is a large increase. So either some failed the 11th, promoted from 8th to the 9th, or recruiting away from say Quitman, NE Jones, or Wayne County(Beat Four), etc just saying. Sometimes kids gravitate toward a winner.

Without the multiplier that 4A dropping to 3A is minimum or normal now. I f some of the Jackson area MAIS schools come over to MHSAA that may change or be true.
-
You don't recon we will have 4/5/6 team regions in 1A-4A since they gave Neeves the right to set up 5A-7A with 5/6/7 team regions.
-
Bay Springs has never recovered from leading Raleigh 14-0 with about 5 minutes left in 2024vand lost 22-14 in overtime. Their Raleigh boys caused great pain on his boys and refused to schedule us in 2025.

I really don't think you have to do something with 1A if your going to have 15 or so non football schools. 3 team regions in football will not work long term with 8 game schedules because once you play 5 teams from region 1-2A in football then you get into playing 3A/4A schools or travel 3 hours for a non region game against Simmons or Noxapater to avoid 3A/4A schools.
-
I remember when there were 55 schools in Class A. Region 5 had 9 schools.
-
Maybe the merger is back on track. You would think you need 72 schools for 7A-5A which you have. Then 48, 56, or 64 per class will sound good for 1A-4A and that gets you back to 6 to 8 schools per region and your open dates go away. You currently only have 168ish when u need an additional 24 to just to get to 48 per class.

Subtract the multiplier on those private schools and move on. I wonder with the possibility of say a Louisville moving down and going South had anything to do with it.
-
Back to original numbers I guess St Andrew's might have not wanted to be 4A. They can't compete in football anymore. That new Bama/,Florida league may have been a factor.

I did some Ai and US News and World Report research on numbers for those schools mentioned above for numbers reported sometime between start of school year and reclassification form time: Here is what i found and its based on those numbers and if the school is not mentioned it is staying in their current class: Moving down to 4A: Purvis, Sumrall Moving up to 4A: PCS, St Andrew's, St Patrick, St Stanislaus Moving down to 3A: South Pike, Mendenhall, Forest, Mooreville, Byhalia, Rosa Fort Moving up to 3A: North Tippah Moving down to 2A: OLA, Union, T Edwards Moving up to 2A: Vardaman, Riverside Moving down to 1A: Hatley, Hamilton, Myrtle, Leland, North Forrest At least 2 3A schools will be going to South 3A either Humphreys County and Yazoo County to region 6 or Noxubee County and Choctaw County to region 5 or 1 each to each region. SCHOOL. 2024. 2025 Mendenhall. 391. 332 Richland. 390. 332 Louisville. 371. 324 Ripley. 370. 324 S Pontotoc. 367. 356 Moss Point. 361. 343 Forest. 341. 343 Mooreville. 335. 403 Byhalia. 333 310 Amory. 332. 331 S Pike. 321. 342 4A/3A split St Patrick. 316. *226 (339) St Stanislaus. 316. *170. (340) OLA. 212. *212 (424) PCS. *256. *224 (336) Booneville. 276. 319 St Andrew's. 226. *256 (374) The above info is based on the schools currently in 4A/3A that have been mentioned moving up or down. We all know that if 7A/6A/5A ends up with 24 each 1 school will drop down out of each class. That will be a factor at the top of 4A and bottom of 4A. *US News and World Report numbers where else do we get them except from the school. (234) is the multiplier number I gave them. I am looking at ST Patrick, St Stanislaus, St Andrew's and OLA moving up. That leaves PCS on the bubble with 2025 number. That leaves appx 5 schools that will drop down. I am projecting solely based on 2025 numbers that Louisville, Ripley, Rosa Fort, Byhalia, and Amory are dropping down. Where are the kids going is the question. I suspect drop outs, transfers to another school or MAIS, or homeschooling.

Trimming Heads and Shaving Points with slick and Bo for 10-5

I think Mr Neeves is bound by the current 2026-27 handbook on discipline. If certain unnamed principals and AD's have a problem with the Handbook on discipline then they need to initiate changes at the district level. I am positive Mr Neeves may welcome. -

I just think some 2 or 3 step process needs to be put in place that includes annual training of coaches and players prior to the season starting like in June or July. I f you are going to throw punches and sling helmets, throw the Gatorade then you need major punishment. As a coach its trash talking that leads to cursing or running of the tongue that provokes things from the other team. Suspension doesn't work then something more permanent may be needed. -

You fine the school, fine the coaches, suspend the players x number of games for 1st offense. 2nd offense requires a double or triple the fine for the school and coaches, suspension for the coaches, and suspended players for the season. 3rd offense 5 times the fees, and permanent suspension from coaching, 2 year probation from playoffs. And make the statement boldly. Required schooling for reinstatement to coaching and playing provided you are freshman or sophomore. Junior or Senior your done no reinstatement nor playing other sports. -

Crystal Springs 3A South last one and may not win a game. McNair had to kick some off the team last year then he resigned. They hired the track coach not necessarily a football coach. -
1st time offense comes into play. What is the legal thing to do comes into play as well. And yes they probably don't want it to get to court so they do the reasonable thing. If your throwing punches or cursing you need to be punished harder. Inciting a riot also a larger punishment. The football field on Friday night is not the backyard BBQ on a Saturday or Sunday afternoon discussing pro and college and what is Prescott going to do or not, Redskins and Cardinals are better than Cowboys.
