Heidelberg not Mize. Mize will have to get past Wesson in Round 2.
-
FIrst Round Wilkinson County @ Scott Central Bay Springs @ Collins Newton @ Wesson Perry Central @ Mize North Forrest @ Heidelberg Pelahatchie @ Amite CCounty Clarkdale @ East Marion Loyd Star @ Lake I believe Lake will win Region 5 since they are playing 3A numbers and are favored this year. But if they finish 2nd I pick Lake vs Wesson for South State.

Move Calhoun City to #1 1A and insert Clarkdale as#10 moving everyone below Calhoun City up. Remove West Lowndes from the 1A list. -

These rankings come from A Combo of Massey, ESPN, SI, Maxpreps. I know we have ESPN radio in Mississippi. The rest i don't know or have a clue. It is a combined rating of the 4. With that said here is a 5A Correction 10 West Point 22 Brookhaven 35 Holmes County Central 38 Ridgeland 42 New Hope 47 Laurel 59 South Jones 61 Vicksburg 64 Wayne County 70 Lafayette County Personally I think it may be largely based on last years results. If you look up your school in search they have projected scores for your 2026 schedule. -

Alot of single schools in each county.
-
I think its a problem for all 1A to 4A schools. Those kids in Byhalia and Tunica moving to DeSoto County for jobs, Louisville is rural but does have jobs just not enough to keep kids from moving to Golden Triangle or Rankin/Madison County areas. You keep going to Hattiesburg to play championships those kids see what's in Hattiesburg area. College's are able to recruit some if these kids away from their home towns thru championship games. Basketball wise its outside of Jackson for them to make a new home.
-
They have went thru coach after coach. They get the program rolling and they leave for better pay i guess.
-
Yes, graduate high school, go to college get a job in the metro area and establish a home there. Some just move after finding a job in Hattiesburg or Jackson after not going to college. Still others meet that significant other and follow them to the suburbs. You can't blame them until taxes get higher, cost of living goes up and they move back to the country towns of Puckett or Seminary, etc, etc.
-
Based on data annually reported to government from cities, towns, and counties. It's kind of a secret census that the government can give grants, loans, etc for infrastructure as they request. More people you have the better.
-
Look for even larger numbers in the suburbs of Memphis, Tupelo, Oxford, Starkville/Columbus, Meridian, Jackson Metro, Natchez, Hattiesburg/Laurel, and the coast. Smaller numbers in the country side.
-
Their numbers should be doubled. That's probably why their already 4A.

Thanks for all the Prayers going up for my wife

Prayers and fight to get well. -
How many restaurants not fast food in Starkville should I want to stop at Applebee's for example after or before the game. Food at the stadium is not of my choice.

Clarion ledger has an article regarding Mississippi latest Census Data. There is a shift in population towards the suburbs and the coast.

October 2025 #'s 8th-10th grades 7A #24 Horn Lake 988 6A #1 Meridian 958 #2 Pearl 922 #5 Terry 871 #14 West Jones 765 #15 Hattiesburg 762 #16 Forest Hill 758 #19 Jim Hill 742 So 3 of the 7, JIm Hill, Pearl, and Meridian are located north of I-20. I believe Jim Hill will go region 2 but you never know if Canton, Ridgeland, Callaway, Murrah, Warren Central just might get Meridian and not Jim Hill or eveb Pearl.

This is not rumor. I had a cousin who lived just inside Newton County Schools line. They were sending the child to Sebastopol or Lake.l as I recall. They now live in Pearl River County. Newton County Dchools started cracking down on situations like theirs. They were going to force them to sind the child to Decatur an hour away vs a 10 minute drive school. She worked in Forest at the time. It was just better to drop the child off and drive on to work. Then word came out that 2 districts were consolidating in Newton County. I t will be interesting to see if any kids west of Newton or Decatur end up at Lake when it happens.
