How many you men in NE Mississippi are living in one school zone and driving to another school to play football.?

At 40 students per grade, the following schools need to be considered for consolidation: Shaw, McAdams, West Lowndes, Hickory Flat, Thrasher, Houlka, Coffeeville, Jumpertown, Mt Olive, Blue Mountain.

It doesn't make since to pay more than 15 teachers to teach less than 50 students per grade. May lower that to 40. At some number the state legislature needs to set a number which automatically triggers the change or consolidation. Covington County needs to bite that bullet.

Well might as well build a new Jr High/High School along 84 west. Call it West Wayne and make some happy. Beat Four and Clara students would attend.

The biggest changes will be 5A Region 2 with Leake Central joining for 1 year. Then the Leake County opponents with an open date if they can't find another school with the same open date.

Remember that's only 3 grades. Covington County a few years ago had a hearing with intention to close Mt Olive. Everyone showed up at the hearing. The board voted 3-2 to keep the school open. I agree that all schools at some point with a small number need to be consolidated.

A few years ago a proposal to count only the 9th thru 11th grades was passed. That's all they count now. I counted the 8th thru the 10th grades on the October 2025 numbers.

House has passed HB 1944 that will give $20,000,000 to private schools by 2028. It is $9,000,000 annually. That will increase to $16,000,000 this summer, $18,000,000 by next year. This bill needs to be defeated in the senate.

Maybe that's the trigger to go back to 4 regions for football. That leaves 30 for 8 regions. 24, 24, 24, in larger regions created this situation. That's 2 regions out of 8 with 3 football and at least 2 non football schools.

Curious teachers, and really curious football players. Maybe if they get wind they walk out of school in protest of the selection if they don't want him.

We may have 5 or 6 school regions with 1 or 2 non football schools crossing region lines to play basketball or baseball, etc. We may also see 6 team regions that split current regions sending Delta schools east or Golden Triangle schools north. Maybe we see a return to 4 Region Football.

I don't remember what 2 years it was but Philadelphia was 1A at one time. They were also 3A. They are going by the way of JDC and Taylorsville slowly. I think its safe to say that many go off to college, get married and live in the suburbs of Rankin, Madison, and other larger counties.

I am not a DA. So the football coach is making $95,000 a year and then funneling money to principal to keep job. What in the name does MHSAA have as a violation here. Sounds like a district attorney issue here.
