  1. Yes, you're right about that. Their final home game against Bay Springs on Thursday, the 26th of October, should be a thriller.
  2. Here's a couple you might want to check out: 10/13 Tylertown @ Poplarville 10/20 Magee @ Jefferson Davis County I think either one of those would be good to go see and also within a respectable driving distance as well.
  3. I just hope these fuel prices will subside some because high gas prices and football season don't mix. If your carburetor is running a little rich, now is the time to get it tuned in.
  4. We are less than a month from kickoff on Friday, August 25th. It won't be too much longer to wait. Will there be any coastal teams participating in jamborees on Friday, August 18th?
  5. How many of those seniors can elect to come back if they haven't used their covid year and don't get drafted? You may not lose them all after all.
  6. I'm sure there's a similar excuse in regards to Clarkdale.
  7. Poplarville has gone 103-32 since the 2013 season with 4 state championship appearances. Yeah this MaxPreps poll is seriously flawed. Poplarville is top 20 in my book.
  8. Who knows. What's even crazier is Vanderbilt has like (8) first place votes.
  9. The media picked State dead last in the West with (1) first place vote. What a flippin' joke LOL!
  10. With the QB's that OM brought in, it makes you wonder if it's Dart's job to lose. I think the only way that Will would get replaced is if he got seriously hurt or starts laying eggs. Hopefully none of those things happen, but they always say that the backup QB is literally one play away from being the starter.
  11. @BrickCity Do you think Vic Sutton and Chris Parson will redshirt this year? Will and Mike are both seniors, but I don't know if they've got extra eligibility beyond this year. They might if they've got the covid year to use. I think both Chris and Vic are great fits for Mississippi State and I'd like to see them at Mississippi State for as long as they possibly can hang around. Hopefully Vic can get a scholarship (and I think he will). I remember when we had to burn Arceto Clark's redshirt and I'm thankful that players can now play in up to 4 games and still preserve it.
  12. I guess it must suck to be intertwined with Gulfport, but I guess that was part of the coaching shuffle. Hopefully the dust has settled and Ocean Springs can get back to being Ocean Springs. Have a safe trip to the Yune when y'all get to come play us. I think I'll enjoy not having to travel that week LOL!
  13. No they didn't Slick. The amount of playoff games for 5A-7A are the same as before. What he is referring to is region 3-6A where there's only 5 teams in that region due to Jim Hill being independent. For example: PRC can go 1-10 and get the 4 spot in the playoffs as long as who they beat loses all of their region games.
  14. They definitely look better, but the small M-State logo reminds me of the Croom Era uniforms. I think if they would have taken the "MISS. STATE" from the Dowsing-Bell Uniforms last year and straightened it out or taken it from the practice jerseys and put that across the chest, I think that would make them absolutely fantastic.
  15. How much does Hancock return from last year? When I saw them play last year they shutout PRC, so that's not really a great indicator of the team that they had or what they will possibly return.
  16. Starting with Laurel right out the gate. Should be a great and hot ballgame. Drink plenty of fluids in the stands.
  17. If any of you North Mississippi folks have any insights into the teams that comprise Regions 1 & 2, please feel free to post them. If you feel like posting predictions on how those regions will stack up, then go ahead and post that as well. I'm slightly (or very) intrigued by 6A North mainly because I don't really know what to expect from it.
  18. No it wasn’t. Picayune didn’t win that ballgame. Picayune got taken to the woodshed by PRC. That was Collins’ last year at PRC and Picayune was down a little bit that year. They did to Picayune what Picayune normally does to PRC. When Collins left after that season and went to d’Iberville, PRC should have promoted Seth to head coach but they didn’t and they’ve paid the price ever since.
  19. It was 2015 when they beat Picayune. PRC was some giants that year, no lie.
  20. Part of me wonders if PRC canceled the regular season game against Picayune because they don't want to have to play Picayune twice. If they manage to get the 4 spot in region 3 and Picayune gets the 1 spot in region 4, then yes they would have had to play Picayune twice at Picayune. I just wonder what the reasoning was behind that decision making process because it'll hurt both schools financially for the next two years. It just seems like a decision that was made in haste and the bigger picture wasn't looked at regardless of wins or losses. I also think there's a cultural problem at PRC and hopefully this new coach with no ties to the area can come in and rectify some of that. Maybe getting Picayune off of their schedule is part of that remedy, but I guess time will ultimately tell.
  21. West Harrison getting a playoff spot definitely sounds feasible because they'll only have to be better than Hancock and Long Beach. Granted that sounds easy enough and hopefully they can make some more history this year, but in a good way. They've been bad for far too long and hopefully last season was them turning the corner.
  22. I have this lingering question in the back of my head that pertains to region 4-6A, so I'm going to ask it and maybe someone can chime in with a response. Was West Harrison's first winning season last year and Hancock's 6A playoff berth a fluke or were they just victims of circumstance? I realize they'll be battling it out for a playoff spot, but how much traction is there to gain for both of those teams?
  23. I certainly appreciate your prediction here, but here’s the thing: The region 3-6A district championship is going to be the last weekend of the regular season between Hattiesburg and West Jones. The winner of that game will take the region 3-6A crown and have better seeding in the playoffs. You then will have to navigate your way through the playoffs without taking a loss because this isn’t double elimination like baseball. It’s a difficult row to hoe for sure.
  24. You're exactly right Vott. Region 4 is going to have two very good football teams that won't make the playoffs unfortunately.
