Well if it's any consolation to you, Picayune will have a 10 game regular season. It obviously wasn't by choice, but I guess PRC needed a cream puff to soften the schedule for them. I hope they found their cream puff and I hope they get to enjoy it for the next two years. They'll have cream puffs coming out their ears.

The cool weather is gone. When will it come back? Late October or something? I'll be happy to see some cooler weather for sure, but I just don't want anymore high noon sun-frying games on a Saturday at Pascagoula LOL!

Could this game creep into Tuesday if there's another weather delay?

Oh and South Mississippi is under a Severe Thunderstorm watch until 8 pm. I don't have a clue what that means, but I guess anything can pop up at anytime.

Vott, the only way that Tennessee can put up crooked numbers is if USM has a complete pitching meltdown. I think South Mississippi boys are accustomed to South Mississippi heat. If Tennessee wins, they win, but it won't be without a fight.

The "Who Dats in Rosenblatt" will be absolutely crazy. Them LSU fans are in Omaha even when LSU ain't there.

I get the Tennessee pick, but will USM really lay that big of an egg? I think if Southern can get either a game 1 or game 2 win, that will carry a lot of momentum into game 3. If Southern loses game 1 then obviously it's probably a little bit more difficult for them, but if they win game 1 I think they take the Super and punch a ticket to Omaha.

Maybe Amite County can get them a souped up wildcat to come coach them.

Have the openings at Amite County, Byers, Hebron Christian, Riverdale, & Thrasher been filled yet? If so, the 2022-2023 coaching carousel can be put to bed.

I wouldn't be so quick to etch that in stone. I appreciate your confidence, but Picayune needs to stay healthy. If Picayune can stay healthy, then they can surely keep the train moving. The Mount Everest of a non-district schedule should have The Tide ready for the post season, but I'm not ready to make any predictions one way or the other just yet. I'd like to see some football games first LOL!

I personally think Tennessee would have to come to Hattiesburg, but Southern Miss needs to beat Penn today.

It’ll be interesting to see how this pans out. I feel like there’s probably going to be a good bit of game hopping when Wayne County and Wayne Academy have home football games on the same Friday nights. I mean if I lived in Waynesboro, I would definitely want to do it.

Lionpack, I think you’re a good poster on here, but please try not to make yourself look ignorant. I seriously doubt he’s been ran off anywhere and I don’t know what happened at Neshoba, but I can promise you if there was something he didn’t like about that program or if they weren’t going to give him the liberty he needed to be their head coach then they probably had some unreconcilable differences. He’s won over 60% of his games, won a state title at Lumberton, played for another against his future team on the opposite sideline with Simmons, and has been a head coach for over 20 years. He’s had way more success than a majority of Mississippi High School Head Football Coaches and most importantly he’s a good coach. It may be difficult to win at Southeast Lauderdale and it may take some time, but it certainly isn’t impossible. I think there will be an improvement there in year 1, even if the improvement is small.

I know. I'm enjoying this weather while I can. I don't think we'll have it too much longer.

Can I order some cool weather to go along with it? LOL!

That's what I'm curious to see - How much better will Southeast Lauderdale be with Brian Ford at the helm? I really think they will be better and more competitive. I don't know if that will equate to more wins, but it should. Maybe a few more because they should have some winnable games on their schedule. Even if their improvements don't show up as wins in the win/loss column, there will definitely be improvements because there are small victories within the game that will not show up via the scoreboard. Getting a state title winning coach at Southeast Lauderdale has no doubt breathed some fresh life into that program.

Here’s a random question for you Wayne County folks. Whatever happened to Dietric Slater? Even though it wasn’t, it just seems like it was yesterday when he was playing basketball for Rick Stansbury and the Bulldogs. He was a special athlete for sure.
