I have no idea if they streamed last night's game or not, but Picayune looked good from everything that I saw. We did have some false starts, but that's to be expected with all of the transition. Our defense really showed up last night and I think they have a chance to be saltier than last year.

Let me see if I've got this straight here. For example, if PRC quadruples their win total from last season (even if it's Florence style cupcakes) which would be a surprising amount of glucose on the gridiron for them, they would definitely appear to be better than expected. Maybe not playoff worthy by any means, but a dark horse. I guess being a dark horse is an easier feat to achieve than it presumably sounds.

Maybe I’m missing something, but isn’t a dark horse team one that would make the playoffs and possibly make some noise once they got in, but they also have to be a team that wouldn’t be expected to make the playoffs in the first place?

The thing with George County and Pascagoula is is that one will wind up beating the other. Will those two and Hancock make the playoffs? Probably so, but depending on who eats who will determine the seeding. I just don’t see them as dark horses because they are playoff worthy already.

Unofficially, Picayune beat Slidell this evening 30-0. It was an alternating scrimmage between Varsity and JV. No time or score was kept and there were equal amounts of alternating plays on offense and defense.

Can we get Jimmy Bell to play football as well? I know Jans just got him via the portal, but man the thought of him on the gridiron as well.

Picayune used to play Slidell years ago in football and when I say that it was like pre Dodd Lee era. He did play Bogalusa his first couple of years, but I think that got way too nasty. He then scheduled Jesuit out of New Orleans and they came to Picayune for a two year series back in the late 90’s. Catholic will be the first Louisiana team we will have played since Jesuit. Correction: Picayune played Slidell in 2007, but it’s been a while since we’ve played a team from Louisiana.

The swarming termites have been awful this whole week in Picayune. Tomorrow’s game against Slidell starts at 5:30 and the gates will open at 4:30. Hopefully it will be over before dusk.

The general consensus that I'm getting here is that Arnett will probably take a step back as far as wins and losses are concerned and I get it. He's a new head coach with a new offensive system, but hopefully it won't be too disastrous. I think the talent returning and what is coming in is solid, so this may boil down to the amount of kinks that this new offense will have.

I honestly have no idea what you are talking about. Maybe you can post a picture of it so we can all judge the thing. IMO, Hattiesburg should have never quit wearing their LSU style helmets and jerseys and we never should have put that goofy looking “P” on our helmets either. The “P” that’s on there isn’t super terrible, but I guess I’m a traditionalist and the numbers on the side of the helmets is what I think of when I think of Maroon Tide Football. As far as our jerseys go, our home maroon jerseys used to have “MAROON TIDE” on them and our away white jerseys used to say “PICAYUNE” on them. Those were the days LOL!

If the results of this past weekend doesn't get him canned, then the results over the next two weekends should. I don't see LSU or A&M making a mistake and losing a game against State.

If PRC makes the playoffs it’s essentially by default. If they somehow manage to screw up a deadlocked 80% chance at making the playoffs, they can send Coach Jacob II (the second) back to Alabama LOL!

I don’t even think a 2nd year T-ball team with kids aged 6-7 would drop as many pop-ups as what State did yesterday. I feel like the white flag has been raised and waved.

Why are the results we’ve been seeing 1 & 2 years removed from NC’s acceptable? Taking a step back is perfectly fine, but the collapses we’ve been seeing shouldn’t be. OM probably has legitimate excuses for their collapse since their pitching staff has been decimated by injuries, but State OTOH stands without excuse. When the issues become greater than what a coaching staff can fix or resolve, what are you supposed to do?

I think the concrete is beginning to cure here. It’s definitely not where I would have placed State or Ole Miss before the season started, but here we are. Sad, sad, sad .
